Jimothy Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Vettel was so lucky not be taken out by the other twoI thought that at the time, really highlighted it from the angles on the replays. Would have been similar to when Sato took out Heidfeld in Austria all those years ago.
BlueSi13 Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Incredible finish! Once again though it looks as if disgusting luck is going de-rail Hamilton's world championship bid.
isaidno Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Incredible finish! Once again though it looks as if disgusting luck is going de-rail Hamilton's world championship bid. Less than a race win in points difference. Plus 'double' points in the last race
DennisNedry Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Great to see some quality racing after the snooze fest of Monaco. Hamilton very unlucky again. He needs Rosberg to have retirements now or it's championship over (unless he goes on another consecutive winning streak). Perez was protecting Rosberg. If Perez was passed earlier, I think Rosberg would have been 4th. What a smash at the end, Massa's fault all round. Delighted for Ricciardo.
DennisNedry Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Less than a race win in points difference. Plus 'double' points in the last race The thing is, except in extraordinary circumstances like today, Mercedes are always going to be 1-2. So the only way Hamilton can win the championship now is beat Rosberg for the vast majority of races from now on. Of course that is excluding the fact that Rosberg may have some DNFs.
isaidno Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Cut away from the coverage halfway through the podium to show 'quirke'
iamafox Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Hats off to Ricciardo for achieving his first GP win. He timed his overtake on Rosberg to perfection, just before the yellow flags came out on the last lap.
Jimothy Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Cut away from the coverage halfway through the podium to show 'quirke' you're joking! It's not like the race over ran a lot!
Lionator Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Every race should just be held in Canada! Always a great GP unlike most of the modern snoozefests.
Amin Posted 8 June 2014 Author Posted 8 June 2014 Well done Ricciardo! Fully deserved a win after his start to the season. You can always rely on Canada for a good race.
Amin Posted 8 June 2014 Author Posted 8 June 2014 Cut away from the coverage halfway through the podium to show 'quirke' It's on red button now.
Nalis Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 I thought that at the time, really highlighted it from the angles on the replays. Would have been similar to when Sato took out Heidfeld in Austria all those years ago. Incredibly bad luck that one! Rosberg is due a retirement but 2nd is excellent result for him given the brake issue he had.
LCFC1996 Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Perez gets five place grid penalty for Austria. "Changed racing line which caused the impact"
Brainy Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Hamilton could win 10 of the next 12 races, have Rosberg finish 2nd in them 10 and win 2 races in which Hamilton doesn't finish and Rosberg would still win the title. It will come down to this sort of bollocks really given how dominant they are. Sounds bitter but Rosberg still hasn't beaten Hamilton on merit in a race this year (Monaco fair enough, except you can't overtake and how he got pole..) but more so Australia where he got pole and had a problem as soon as the lights went out and today where he looked fast enough to win.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Dunno about all this 'cut the chicane and gained an advantage', on the face of it, yeah, he gained just under a second, but he completely wrecked his front left tire, so he certainly didn't do it on purpose and wouldn't of wanted that to happen could he of helped it, it hindered him more than helped him, clearly.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Gutted, Perez should have atleast a 10 place grid penalty. Race was superb the last 7 laps or so.
Amin Posted 9 June 2014 Author Posted 9 June 2014 It would only have been a penalty if Hamilton was alongside Rosberg, or already ahead. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed with the way Rosberg seemed to crack under the pressure. Not only did he lock up at the chicane but he nearly put in the wall after the first pit stop.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Rosbergs luck will run out, got away with it at Monaco, coming off and causing Hamilton to lose his chance... and then twice lost the car in the race in Canada, going completely off and then almost ending up in the wall earlier... Throw in the fact Hamilton has had to retire from two races, when not his fault the 22 point lead isn't so impressive...
Brainy Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Gutted, Perez should have atleast a 10 place grid penalty. Race was superb the last 7 laps or so. 100% Massa's fault. Don't know why I just figured i'd be as blind as you usually are.
