LC/FC Posted 3 March 2014 Posted 3 March 2014 I love Waggy. I can't help it! His enthusiasm is infectious and his attitude, sublime. Confidence player and needs a run of games to get into things. Hopefully Wigan will prove a good spell for him. Needs to improve his reading of the game but that'll come with maturity. An unplayable Waghorn is a sight to behold!
chicagofox Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 How would anyone know that an unplayable Waghorn is a sight to behold? Nobody has ever seen him be unplayable (or anything even close to it for that matter). And as for maturity, he's 24 years old.
Bert Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 He would certainly get a clap from me. One thing you can't really say about Waghorn is that the effort was never there.

Nobody has ever seen him be unplayable (or anything even close to it for that matter). And as for maturity, he's 24 years old. The season in League One he was unplayable at times, probably due to him being an out of the blue loan signing, so an unknown quantity with a wicked engine. Many defenders couldn't handle him. And 24 is nothing in maturity terms, only the start where most players come into their prime. Not to mention the injuries he's had over the last 3 years have got to have curtailed his development a fair bit. I will say that from his showing for Wigan, he's still a bit of a jammy sod now and again.
LanguedocFox Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 He did well to be unplayable when we were in League One because his first match was against Swansea at home in our first game back up in the Championship. He and Dany N'Guessan came on as half-time subs and changed the game. They both scored and Waggy hit the bar. Amazing debuts for both of them.
LC/FC Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 Was it only after when we came back up? Feck! 5 years don't half seem to go by quick, then blend together. I may have lumped it all just as 'Pearson: Part 1' Sorry Fryatt! Completely forgot about you.
LanguedocFox Posted 4 March 2014 Posted 4 March 2014 Was it only after when we came back up? Feck! 5 years don't half seem to go by quick, then blend together. I may have lumped it all just as 'Pearson: Part 1' Sorry Fryatt! Completely forgot about you. I only remember because I was at that Swansea match. For various reasons - a bereavement, a wedding, some financial issues - I hadn't been able to get over there for any games during the League One season, but I managed to wangle a client meeting to coincide with the first match of the season. I remember, or I think I remember, that the atmosphere that day was incredible, and although the first half was dire, we were a different team after the break. One sad thing is that the following year, Swansea's manager (Sousa) was in charge of City. And we know what happened then.
