TJB-fox Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 I'd be interested to see how he does next year after hes earned a contract somewhere. A lot of players hit form when trying to win a deal
phillo Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Mark w.... I've said it before buddy, your infatuation with Waggy borders on the extreme. To be honest, on a day when all three of our strikers scored, I don't imagine anyone is really bothered whether Waghorn made an assist. Are they? well said col who gives a dam

To be honest, on a day when all three of our strikers scored, I don't imagine anyone is really bothered whether Waghorn made an assist. Are they? Hardly. Mark even stated that Waghorn is rightly right down the pecking order but defending the fact that he is a decent player who's never really had a chance here. As for being interested in him, the whole point of this thread is about Waghorn so if you're really not that bothered then why look at it? That makes no sense and just detracts from the purpose of the topic. I'll always take an interest in ex-players, especially the younger ones who didn't fulfil their potential/looked like they actually wanted to do well.
fleckneymike Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 Surely this wont mysteriously disappear. http://www.whoscored.com/Players/33889

It's good for him, a decent player who always gave his best for the club and had a good attitude. We had enough threads when Beckford/ Danns/ Campbell and other former players did something half decent for their next club so why not Waghorn?
Guest Col city fan Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 It's good for him, a decent player who always gave his best for the club and had a good attitude. We had enough threads when Beckford/ Danns/ Campbell and other former players did something half decent for their next club so why not Waghorn? Fair enough and no offence meant. I'd personally rather concentrate on who we have at the club now, rather than a player who looks like he'll not play for us again.Waggy is a good professional and I wish him all the best. I've always said there's more to come from the lad, just not in a City shirt or so it would seem.

Guest Col city fan Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=24780 It looks like they really rate him Mark. Good luck to the lad.
Langston Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 The only game he wasn't completely useless? Simply not true at all. I stook by Vardy last season when he was given similar sorts of bullshit criticism and i'll stand by what I say with Waghorn. It's no coincidence wherever he has gone out on loan the fan of those clubs have loved him and wanted him to stay. Championship clubs too Hull couldn't wait to get rid....
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 It's a shame for him how his career has gone for us, It's taken all this time to show his worth again, the time he finally hits form and we are top and clear by 8, meaning if he ever gets a new contract and returns, his current form still won't be good enough to play for us in the premiership... Waghorn reminds me of James Mcclean in ability and style. Good luck to him but it's not worth him returning.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Won't forget his Bristol City injury time winner Whose is the celebration in your sig? Hull couldn't wait to get rid.... Yeah nothing to do with being out injured for the majority of it hey.
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 This thread actually got bumped for an assist when we had three strikers on the pitch who all scored And of course Wigan fans will love him, he clearly plays well when he is desperate to impress ie loan.
Thracian Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Even Waghorn critics like myself have never denied he has ability. It's just that his abilities are limited and not good enough to help our cause more than momentarily. Waghorn is not a natural goalscorer. I even doubt he'd be a natural scorer if the goals were 10 feet higher and wider because he'd still blast the ball everywhere but inside 'em on far too many occasions. He's also woefully one-footed and I saw no evidence of him trying to rectify that at Leicester or to develop his peripheral vision, ball control and passing ability. He's not going to score many with his head either so, altogether, what you have is an unspectacular 8-12 goals a season guy who'll never win his place in a really good team unless there are people out injured. Good luck to the lad, but if he was really good enough for us then it would be a sign of limited ambition.
MrSpaM Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Lloyd Dyer gets an assist : "Lloyds not good enough, drop him!" Waghorn gets an assist for Wigan "Why did we ever get rid of Waghorn?!? amazing player!" #foxestalklogic
Tielemans63 Posted 1 March 2014 Posted 1 March 2014 Loaning him out was a great move. He's causing problems for our promotion rivals all over the place. Better he's doing that than sitting on our bench.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 March 2014 Posted 2 March 2014 Brilliant 2nd assist against Forest To be fair to him it looks like he did alright today, his goals a tap in and his assist is clearly unintentional but at least there was some end product to his running around like a headless chicken. Just a shame Mark's not got near a computer tonight. The fact still remains that he needs to move on though I'd have reservations about Nugent and Vardy in the Prem never mind him.
