Waghorn Set For Wigan Loan

And he scored didn't he?

It's either one assist and one goal or two assists. Think Maynard may have stolen the second.

Any fan that doesn't appreciate what waghorn did for us is either 12 and wasn't around or just drunk too much to remember. Except it wasn't just that one season, which was in the championship for those that continue to call him a league one footballer, last season he had some great games, winning motm and scoring at a respectable rate. He has had terrible luck since joining, neither Paulo nor Sven knew where to play him, this is his fourth loan spell and he has had a number of injuries and problems.

I'm gutted he didn't get the chance to build on his potential, England U21 last season lets not forget, but I'm also not naive enough think he can still make it for us. Good luck waghorn, if we ever get the chance we should cheer his name to the rafters, because he was exactly what we've always asked for in a player. He gave everything every game, he cared about the club and he helped in the transition from our lowest ebb in football to being the club we are today. We overpaid, but that wasn't his fault, he underperformed at times, that was, but I always enjoyed supporting him, he was part of the team that restored pride to us. Along with Howard and Fryatt and Berner and Oakley and others.

Waghorn I salute you.

Mark if it gets too tough pm me, solidarity brother.

Spot on.

Exactly what i think about Waggy. We signed Wood at a time that Waghorn was really finding great form. Then he was given 15 or 20 minutes here and there and people got on his back. If you can play as well as he did in games like the 4-1 against Derby and then still get replaced by a new striker then your confidence is never going to be great.

Good luck Waggy, see you in the prem one day  :scarf:

Oh FFS! Excuse after excuse after ****ing excuse. He won't ever play in the Premier League. He had a half decent half hour against Derby County ONCE. Whenever anyone praises him they mention one ****ing game and one ****ing game only - because that was the ONLY game in recent memory when he wasn't COMPLETELY USELESS. And you would think he won that game for us single-handedly, which he didn't. It took Marshall and Nugent coming on to seal it.

Sousa was a crap manager for us and the signing of Wafhorn was a complete waste of money. Has anyone ever thought that maybe there is a reason he hasn't got much game time at Leicester of late? Or do you all know better than Pearson?

We didn't sign an excellent player and he will never become anything more than a below average lower league player. He's 23 ****ing years old. If he had any potential at this level he would have realized it by now. I wouldn't go out of my way to boo him if he ever comes back but I certainly wouldn't cheer him from the rafters.

I remain torn on Waghorn. On Saturday for example, I'd have been happier bringing on Waghorn than Wood. I think he's a better all round player than Wood.

However, its all academic. It looks like he's played his last game in a City shirt.

I wouldn't write him off at 23.  Vardy didn't come good at this level until a much later age.

He takes a great corner, created some vital goals for us last year from set pieces.

I like Waghorn, but he needs regular first team football to improve the weaknesses in his game (hitting the target, movement, avoiding the offside flag) and he won't get that was us.  Can't fault his attitude - he needs to be playing football week in week out.

and people forget he ALSO missed a penalty in that play semi against Cardiff, people slag off Kermogant (good player IMO) but people also forget that someone else missed a penalty that game.

Very true, I can`t understand the abuse Kermogant gets either, his miss was in a shoot out and as you say Waghorn also missed, Knockeart on the other hand now worshiped and adored had Wembley on the end of his boot at Watford !

Missed a really good chance in that game too.

This.

He did always seem to need a run of a few games before he clicked into gear - and, unfortunately, the club can't afford to risk potential extra dropped points while he takes those games to get up to standard. NP is probably also thinking that his job depends on getting promotion, so he won't want to take such risks on a personal level, either.

It would be nice to imagine Waggy coming good elsewhere and returning to the fold. More likely, he'll end up moving permanently to a Championship club where immediate promotion isn't a requirement and where they'll be able to allow him longer to bed in.... I'd then expect him to make a good Championship striker. Whether he has the potential to go higher, only time will tell.

I know funny how it works out we had a better chance of getting to wembley with Knockaert yet he misses and still worshipped, and Kermogabnt misses in a penalty shoot out and is public enemy number one.  Very strange

The difference is that unlike Waghorn and Knockaert, Kermorgant was shit when he played for Leicester City. Glad I could clear that up.

The only game he wasn't completely useless? Simply not true at all. I stook by Vardy last season when he was given similar sorts of bullshit criticism and i'll stand by what I say with Waghorn. It's no coincidence wherever he has gone out on loan the fan of those clubs have loved him and wanted him to stay. Championship clubs too

Blimey Col, I always thougt you were one of the few on here that spoke sense! Until now....

Waghorn ahead of Wood? Seriously? After an indifferent season last, I think Wood's looked so sharp each time he's come on as a sub recently. Problem for him is two strikers in very good form ahead of him.

I'll remind you of Waghorn's performance at Stoke when he came on as a sub. Quite possibly the worst I've ever seen any Leicester City sub perform in 25 years .

Neither did Kermit, he chipped it to the left where the keeper was diving.

lol

cheers for the compliment (I think) buddy.

No, I do think Waghorn still has something to offer the right club. It's difficult being a bit-part player coming on after 60/70 minutes and expecting to change a game. I've always been surprised at how a player who looked so good in that first season, could then struggle to hold down a first team spot..Some smart arse will say its 'because he's shit' but he's not.

And I think I'm one of the few who doesn't rate Wood particularly. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he leaves at the end of the season.

Finally mate, never judge a player on one game, however bad they are. I saw Muzzy Izzett have some total stinkers, yet he remains one of City's finest. Not that I'm comparing Waghorn to Izzett...

Well that is a load of crap, he had a month last season (about six games) where he contributed hugely, not in terms of goals (only managed two) but his link up play and general enthusiasm helped us to beat Ipswich 6-0 and Derby 4-1 as well as win at Sheffield Wednesday.

He was overpriced looking back but he was signed after a loan spell where he scored 12 in 43 in his first full season as a professional. It wasn't a waste of money at the time. He's not good enough for us now but to make out he's been useless is just wrong.

Players aren't either amazing or shit, there is a middle ground and Waghorn is in that category.

I refer you to Martyn Waghorn and ONE game against Derby County - which all of his 'supporters' have based their opinion on.
