broughtonblue Posted 7 March 2014 Posted 7 March 2014 I asked paddy power a few weeks ago on the odds of Liam playing for the full England team in the next five years, they wouldn't give any!
Xen Posted 7 March 2014 Posted 7 March 2014 He would not be the first player to be over looked at u21's and picked for the full squad. Just look at the reverse how many play at U16 to U21 that never make the full squad. It's all down to what the managers see's in you. On the 500 games if an England manager said to him or his agent "we need to see you at a higher level playing in Europe" He would be gone like a shot. We all wood even Mr LCFC Steve Walsh would have jumped ship for that. But you can't blame them played for your own team the nxt step is England. Doesn't seem to be a problem for Southampton players...
CPW22 Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 A good read and encouraging to see. The most important thing for Liam is his development at the moment, something which under Pearson and the current set up he will get plenty of. My fear would be, if we did go and stay up that things change and big names become more important. Nothing to suggest this will happen though, or that Liam can't be a big name!
Langston Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Physically I'd say he's ready for the step up, pace and power in abundance - just needs to keep improving his reading of the game and his ball retention and the kid'll play for England, hopefully with us.
Voll Blau Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Real Roy Of The Rovers stuff for him. Seeing stuff like this makes me think there still is a bit of magic left in football.
Bryn Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Got a friend who is writing an article and wants to watch some of Liam Moore's best performance, asked what I thought were his two or three best games. Off the top of my head I thought when we beat Wigan 2-0 and when we hammered Derby. Any other bright ideas?
Tommy G Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 this thread needs dragging up should he be subject of speculation in the summer....
billyn88 Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I remember going to Selhurst Park back in early 2012 and saying 'who on earth is this L Moore bloke?' on the starting lineup. I was impressed that day and with Pearson in charge I saw him being given a proper chance. He's seized it with both hands and is in the side on merit and doesn't moan when he's out of it (this can be said for almost all of the squad and its vital). Now time for cynicism. I believe that he said this and meant it. However, he's young and is in the thralls of our most successful season in a decade for his boyhood club but the allure of bigger teams later on might just sway him. I just hope that people on here and in the rest of the fanbase don't drag up this quote if he moves to an Everton or a Spurs in a year's time.
Smudge Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Still think it's ridiculous that Michael Keane has been shit all season on loan but starts for the U21's over Liam. Suppose it's just like the senior England team though. Saying the things the fans want to hear, I hope he stays for a while but if his development continues then idk if we'll be able to hang onto him really. Michael Keane is a Manchester United player. That was the point he was trying to make... Unless I'm missing something, Michael Keane hasn't played for us since last year, He went to Derby and played against us. He is now at Blackburn.

I thought the point was that Keane was starting ahead of Liam Moore for England U21s despite the fact Keane's been rubbish for Derby (well, he was when we beat them), just because Keane's a Man Utd player. People weren't happy about this.

Liam made some big crunching tackles that day and really stood out in a team that looked like they would rather be some place else. I think that was also the game Steve Howard was sent off for elbowing about 5 mins after coming off the bench.
