Grewks Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 3 points against barnsley, 3 against blackpool and 3 against QPR when we play em, and that would give us second? 83 points, at least 16 clear of second, and only 30 points left to play for.

QPR or Derby will get 87-88 I reckon. I think hoping that QPR will only take 1.6 ppg from their other games is wishful thinking.

Some on here really overrate QPR. Today they had a 2-0 win, but looking at the stats it was hardly convincing. Both created an even amount of chances, and we all know how poor the brummies are, we made em look like a non league side at their place.

Stats don't always tell the whole story but I take your point. For what it's worth, Statto.com are predicting that 84 points will be enough... http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship My suspicion is that we'll need 87+ but that's based on nothing more than pure speculation. Either way at a point a game from now on we'll only have ourselves to blame if we don't get promoted.
Finnaldo Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 I find it hilarious that every time a team in the top four loses they're going to capitulate, but when they beat the team 17th in the table after failing to win in the past five games whilst looking generally hopeless in most of them, they're going to challenge for a automatics spot again.
Corky Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 There are no excuses for throwing this away now. We are five defeats and five positive results for others ahead of third and fourth place. The only barrier to promotion now is complacency. I don't see it, we won't win every game but we'll do more than enough.
cjslcfc Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Win our 6 remaining home games and that puts us on 92. Record for 2nd which we ourselves set. Even draw a couple, say Brighton and QPR at home, and we are on 88. That's losing every single away game left. We are too good to be that bad.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 8 March 2014 Posted 8 March 2014 Don't read too much into QPR today, they were playing Birmingham City who are dreadful at home

Dan Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 QPR are very over-rated. Another case of people falling for 'name' players.
One Legged Beaver Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 QPR are very over-rated. Another case of people falling for 'name' players. Couldn't agree more, can't thing of one of their players I would actually take into our First XI.
Pegosteve Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 A bit more perspective and to make everyone feel even more confident in order to get to 90 points lets look at what points teams can afford to drop from here on in. Us - 23 Burnley - 15 Derby - 7 QPR - 9 Forest - 1 Wigan - 4 Nobody else can make 90 points.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 93 will be the magic total thought I think
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I think it will finish: Us top Burnley QPR Derby Wigan Reading With QPR or Wigan winning the play off
Buzzell Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 I don't care how it finishes aslong as we're top. Burnley will more than likely come secondl and I can see Derby and QPR fighting it out in the playoff final.
Stadt Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Considering 'Arry is supposed to be a triffic man manager and motivator / he's not doing very well at all.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 It would be great if we could get a decent result away at Barnsley this week 90 points I think will do it
Grewks Posted 9 March 2014 Author Posted 9 March 2014 It would be great if we could get a decent result away at Barnsley this week 90 points I think will do it Although i want all 3.....a point would not be a terrible result at all. Just gotta win our home games for auto's, and win at burnley for championship in my opinion.
bluesbrothers Posted 9 March 2014 Posted 9 March 2014 Can't lie that I'm worried about Tuesday. It's been a long break and after last season, everyone to a man who went there must shudder when they think of the place. That being said, we've been putting teams in their position to the slaughter all season, and the smart money is on us continuing that ruthless streak. I just hope the boys are ready for a proper scrap - this is going to be one of those close, ugly games along the lines of Dirty Leeds or QPR away. The sort of game for close control and patience - perhaps one we'll need the know-how of Phillips in to break down a stubborn defence.

Their defence is shocking, forest created a number of chances as well. can see us getting at least 3.

I hope it's going to be one of those games where we do put them to the slaughter - like we did with Charlton and Ipswich, rather than Dutty Leeds or QPR. But like you, I am a bit worried (no change there, then). Barnsley have not lost at home in the league since December.
