I was living on the fylde coast ( because my mum and dad god rest his soul moved us away from gods country in the 60s ) wishing that I was at every game but alas i only managed a couple of games a season - I have kept the faith all these years such that now me and my son are both season ticket holders and are enjoying what could be our greatest ever season

Was a brill time watching the mighty city home and away, QPR and Luton away will always stay with me. Especially everyone singing Joe,Joe, Joe Waters on the way back to our coach's with all the locals hanging out of their flat window's...................only down side was the cold drive home with a couple of our coach windows having been bricked..............bad losers!! :scarf:

Didn't go to that game but went with my late dad and his bodyguards to the Semis that year when we played Liverpool at Old Trafford. Scary times back then as I was only 12 at the time and there was a lot of agro up at Old Trafford with bottles being thrown at the Leicester fans and Liverpool fans trying to climb over the walls to get in. Luckily my dad was a lecturer at Demontfort Uni (then Leicester Poly) and a load of his man mountain Turkish students followed the foxes. It did come in handy at one point I remember. finished 0-0 and we went to Villa on a weekday night  in the rain I remember but lost 3-1

Had some great times following City back then with my dad in the mid 70s leaving school early to get the 15:20 from Oakham to Leicester and slipping in the back of his lectures at the Poly before we all headed off for a Wednesday night game at Filbert Street.

He passed away 2 years ago in July but I am sure like many of our fallen foxes family, he is watching on now with pride as we march our way towards the promised land

Thanks for sharing your memories, I was 21 at the time, remember thinking we were in for a very tough game, especially with a young lad making his debut. QPR were ultra confident, but we bossed the game.

Away cup games in those days were very special, always by coach or the football special train - some brilliant memories!

yes , was there too and we all wanted white wristbands after .

does anyone know why QPR  played in red though ?

Didn't it used to be the rules that in the FA Cup both teams had to change in the event of a colour clash?

So, did you or did you not get to see Debbie's tuna canoe?

Fvck me, this thread makes me feel old. In March 74 I had recently started a new job running the marketing communications department of a big construction machinery company, and I was miles out of my depth. My three-month review was coming up, my son was a year old, I'd had a mortgage for nine months (a £7000 mortgage) that I was struggling with, and I was worried about being thrown out of the job. Then the Three Day Week (look it up) ended - two days before the Waters sensation - and all of a sudden it was blue skies and sunshine all round. I read about the Waters debut in the papers (in those days I was too tired to stay up for MOTD) but that was my City experience in those days.

Having an unforgettable time interviewing some of the world's best sports personalities while also enduring the groundwork of moulding a separate career as a professional squash player and national coach. Said my first "hello" to "The Princess". Everyone should meet a girl like her at least once in their life! :D Happy days, but not enough chance to see the City because of my own playing commitments.

Dad was made redundant from Stibbys?  We were just getting ready to move to Bristol as he got a new job. We were living in Birstall,Moorgate ave. Happy memories . Missed that game but remember plenty of others. And so the obsession began :)

I was at the nursery with Kevin Phillips. Bastard nicked my milk bottle when I turned my back for 2 seconds. Once a poacher, always a poacher.

Listening at home on the radio. Vaguely remember my Dad shouting something about Waters, and me thinking "never heard of him"

Following it via the BBC.:thumbup: (I was only a liccle lad though :P )

Same.

I was 10 and had been to the 3rd and 4th rounds but my Dad didn't tend to take me to away games. I think he went on the lash in London with his mates after the QPR game..
