One name: Joe Waters!!

Remember him scoring two  great goals at QPR in the F A Cup. Little Irishman. I've still got the newspaper cuttings, and I was at the game. The atmosphere was great. Away support back then was far noisier than it is today, and that is a fact.

yes it could be that

i thought that was the year we played in the all white strip  though, .

if not , does anyone know what year did we play in all white

I'm pretty sure that was the year.

I remember Joe Waters. I think we picked him up for a nominal fee from some minor football club. Grimsby seems to ring a bell?

I don't think he had a very long career with City but I think I remember him scoring a few important goals for us from midfield? He was short in stature but had a good pair of lungs on him.

I wonder where he is now & where did he go after he left City?

I think we sold him to Grimsby, iirc.

He finished his career in the States, where he still coaches, I believe.

I was 10 years old, and wasn`t taken to away games at the time, and so i had to listen to the reports on radio Leicester.

Back in those days, there was no match commentary on local radio, and only second half commentary from one of the top games from any given Saturday or midweek match on bbc radio 2.

On local radio, we only had a report on how the game was going every 10 or 15 minutes, or if a goal had been scored, they would cross over to the ground to tell you about it.

Both the semi final games with Liverpool had second half commentary on radio 2, and listening to us lose the replay at Villa Park was heartbreaking!

1982 was another great cup run, with great memories, ending with us losing to Spurs at Villa Park.

I can still remember walking out of Villa Park, after the game, and thinking that it had been 8 years between our 1974 and 1982 semi finals, and the chance of getting to wembley for the FA Cup final, and hoping it wouldn`t be so long until our next opportunity.

32 years later and i`m still waiting!

Didn't get to this game but was at Villa Park for the semi final replay. We had the Holt End it was a great atmosphere and a great game. I remember when we equalised we must have gone down and back up again 20 steps up and down the terrace. Nothing like standing at a game so good to have had that experience that many of todays fans will not have had.

Strangely am meeting up with one of the lads who I went with to that game this week and we have not seen each other since 1977.

Jimmy Bloomfield's team one of the best we have ever had.

I can't believe it is 40 years ago since Joe scored those goals !! I was 15 then, my dad got two tickets for the game but the night before fell ill and couldn't go.  He persuaded our neighbour to take me. This neighbour had a two seater antique of a car. It took us hours to get there and by the time we got home my dad had seen it on the tv ! It was a great day out though !!!
