Mark_from_USA Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 On the post match they discussed whether to leave Wasyl and Schupp in the side ahead of Moore and Konchesky. Here is my take - Yes and Yes. The reason is, City need to figure out whether Schlupp is a FB they want to take into the PL, so the more he plays the more they can evaluate this, especially against better teams. As for Moore, he has already booked his place in the PL side I believe. Therefore, City can see more of Wasyl and see if they want to extend him. In other words, its all about the summer decisions now. I think this would fit with the businesslike approach to this season. Your thoughts?
Harry - LCFC Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Dyer and Mahrez as well. Feel really sorry for Lloyd, a lot of people mentioned his name when talking about our player of the season and he's probably not going to get back in for a while. Same goes for others too, unfortunately for them Pearson will stick with a winning team, it just works well. Bodes very well for the prem though. Don't particularly like the idea of bringing in loads of new players so it would be good if we could avoid that.
Mark_from_USA Posted 11 March 2014 Author Posted 11 March 2014 Under this line of thought they would want to have Dyer in. They've just bought Mahrez - hes going to be with the club next year. Much as I hate to say it, I'm not sure Dyer has his place booked just yet. I'm not bashing him, its just a feeling....
65RosesFox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 I've always said you play players on merit. Wasyl, Schlupp and Mahrez have patiently waited on the bench for their opportunity. It has come whether it be through injury or a dismissal to another player and they have taken that opportunity and all three have consistently performed good/excellent. If a manager was to drop someone in that situation it shows that they have favourites and no matter how well you play you are no more than a back up and sub. Fortunately Pearson is far from that and has played players who have earned a place in the starting line up. And that's why we have such a strong squad, because in more or less every position (except GK) someone can easily replace you and keep you on the bench if they put in a good performance.

Manager's rotation policy is always interesting. I think you're right in that Pearson has been very consistent, and that counts for a lot.
sylofox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 To me it's all about winning this league. NP don't drop winning teams Moore Konch and Dyer have not been dropped. They got injured part of the game. So they are fit and NP brings them back in removing players that have done a good/great job while they have been out. How do you think the three dropped players would feel or react. They would be well pissed and could destroy the squad attitude. If Moore Konch and Dyer can't accept or don't understand that they are not squad players and not what NP wants. And not sure I want them either. It's a squad game and you play on merrit and current form. Who deserves to be dropped on current form.
Ric Flair Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 It seems Mahrez has seamlessly slotted in and we're looking fresh in attack. Dyer will be an asset from the bench for sure.
Raj Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Dont fook with a winning team....your winning-the team picks itself easy
Mark_from_USA Posted 11 March 2014 Author Posted 11 March 2014 I guess the question is, with promotion just about assured, do you use games now to help the summer decision-making? City have to get this upcoming summer right to have the foundation for a long stay in the Prem.... Do player starts have any role in this now?
Bryn Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Yep, keep things as they are. The players have to know that they have an equal chance of breaking into the first team if they take their chance. The only one I'd be inclined to favour is Moore, because Moore, Schlupp and Mahrez have more longevity than Dyer, Wasyl and Konchesky.

The only bearing anything has atm is getting a P next to our name and then a C. Nothing is won yet and could still be all thrown away. (unlikely as it maybe)
One Legged Beaver Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Three clean sheets in a row, you'd be a fool to switch it up. They may not have been against sterling opposition but we've left Schmeichel to just cameo appearances in all three matches.

But Wasyl and Konch have experience and at top level. Something we will need a lot of next season and something sadly lacking last year. The added experience this season is a major part of us being top right now IMHO.

cc_star Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 No dilemma The players who've come in have the position their own & will stay there as long as they keep performing at those levels & the results keep coming. Schlupp in particular needs to play every single minute there, we need a pacey LB and we need to see if it's him & he needs experience.
sdb Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Burnley will be a great test and indicator of Schlupp's ability at LB (personally really rate him). Mahrez and Was are in on merit quite rightly. With games coming thick and fast NP will rotate ala Millwall at some point, but we've got our settled 11 and it's a good looking one with plenty of potential to improve. The only minor imperfection is that ideally Moore would be in as he's a more long term option and again, needs to show he can cut it against the best in his league before next year (if we end up promoted).

Are all 6 of these players booked for the PL squad then, assuming their contracts can be sorted?
sylofox Posted 11 March 2014 Posted 11 March 2014 Are all 6 of these players booked for the PL squad then, assuming their contracts can be sorted? Who knows. All I am saying is youth is not everything. Old heads and experience make a difference too.
Anthrax Posted 12 March 2014 Posted 12 March 2014 If Schlupp carries on performing till the end of the season I don't see why he wouldn't play next season. Just whether Pearson would favour experience over young Jeff..
