inckley fox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 The difference between the Championship and the Prem is that you can never switch off. The pace and the quality IMO is hugely different. Some say that the difference between the top few teams in the Championship and the bottom few in the Prem is negligible. I think different. Cardiff aside (crap), just look at the likes of Norwich, Villa, Sunderland, West Brom.. All teams that are much better than Derby, Reading, QPR, even Burnley. They have Prem experience, money to build again in the summer and contain some very good players. That's just the worst of the teams... When you look at the top half, yes, it's scary. My belief is that many on here are really underestimating how good the Prem, per se, is.. And overestimating how good we are. We will need to add some real quality additions in the summer to be able to make a fist of staying up, IMO. You cannot switch off in the Prem or you're punished. None of this Nugent missing sitters or Lloyd Dyer having an off-game or King 'going missing'. If this happens too often we'll be struggling to stay up. I think that final paragraph of yours is spot on. The same would go for Vardy, of course, he will have to become a lot more clinical if he wants to make it. That said, if you look at sides who come down from the Premier League the picture is a little different. Sides going up invest hugely and often unsettle the chemistry that they'd established in the second tier. Those coming down frequently retain a lot of players from the Premiership. They often struggle to adapt to the Championship - QPR, Reading and Wigan are all in contention, but none have stormed the league. And if you go further back than that - Derby (2008), Boro (09), Portsmouth, Burnley, Hull (10), Blackpool, Birmingham (11), Blackburn, Bolton, Wolves (12). All of them found it tough at first. It suggests to me that the Premiership is closer now to the standard of the second tier than ever before. I think we've picked a good time to (hopefully) go up.
MC Prussian Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Try biting this mother ****er! All three of them should be. Wasyl's coming. Personally, I can't see Wasilewski staying past the end of his current contract. I don't think at age 33, he would be able to cut it at the top level. Maybe as CB, but most definitely not as a right-back. The thought of him pinned against the likes of Schürrle, Hazard, Cazorla, Adam Johnson, Navas, Young or Walcott... Oh, lord. I bet Demechelis is shitting himself about the prospect of playing party boy Vardy. Then again...

Weller in Tights Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I'm sure that will help us stay up! I was simply recalling an old song (slightly adjusted) that tries to evoke the spirit of 'not worrying about others'. It was not an indication of the tactics Pearson must employ. You really need to lighten up or just go and inhabit some Rugby forum.
