Promotion next Tuesday?

So, if I have worked this out correctly, we cannot go up on Friday or Saturday.

We have 86;

win on Friday and we have 89, draw we have 87 and lose we have 86.

QPR have 70;

Win on Saturday they will have 73, which means the maximum they can get is 91.

Draw on Saturday, they will have 71 and can get a maximum of 89, lose and they have a maximum of 88.

So...

I'm wrong !!  A City win on Friday followed by a QPR loss on Saturday would see us promoted.

A City win and a QPR win would mean we would be promoted with a win on Tuesday.

A City win and a QPR draw would mean a City draw on Tuesday would be good enough.

A City draw and a QPR win would mean we still need 5 points and cannot go up next Tuesday.

A City loss and A QPR win would mean we still need 6 points and cannot go up on Tuesday.

Fingers crossed for a home promotion party !!

So, paradoxically we are looking for our rivals to get something at the weekend?!?!

(Not Burnley though)

So we can still get promoted saturday??

Yes, if we win on Friday and QPR lose on Saturday.

I love reading permutations, the sooner the better!

If QPR only draw on Saturday and we win Friday I can't see how they can overturn the goal difference in 6 games.

We're there as soon as they don't win a game imo.

Simple.

It's highly improbable but still possible, so no (p) next to our name.

Derby also need to drop points Saturday.

Yeah, that's right.

Derby play Tuesday as well, and assuming they win on Saturday, we win on Friday and draw on Tuesday, we would be waiting for news of their result on the night.

If they drop any points in those two games then a win and a draw is enough for Tuesday.

Complicated innit ?!?!

Using Will Hill's odds for a Leicester win, a QPR loss and a Derby draw, there is a 9.74/1 chance we will go up this weekend.

HANG ONNNNNNNNNNNN

We'd be on 89 with a win and QPR would only be able to get 88 if they lost

SO OP IS WRONG

The OP is often wrong, but in this case has pointed out his/my original error above !!   :P

If we win on Friday, and Derby fail to win and QPR lose, we would be promoted while traipsing around Tesco with the missus !!

Clear now ???   lol

Promotion on Tuesday would be fantastic. A bit of a bitter sweet moment going up when we aren't playing on Saturday. But I'd still take it any day!

Hmm, the way I worked it out is we cannot mathematically get promotion until tues. I'll let someone else explain the maths.

No - we need QPR to lose and Derby not to win if Leicester win.
