Promotion next Tuesday?

Recommended Posts

Posted

All I know is that now there are only 3 teams who could overtake us.

After the draw with Wigan they can't get more points.

Onward and upward!

i think the promotion has been done and dusted for a few weeks now, just want to see us with the league cup in our hands...one trophy we've never won.

Simples really..

We win Friday 89 points

QPR lose they can then only get 88

Derby draw they can only get 88

We're up!

What´s more is that if we win Friday then both QPR and Derby have to win their last 7!!

The OP is often wrong, but in this case has pointed out his/my original error above !!   :P

If we win on Friday, and Derby fail to win and QPR lose, we would be promoted while traipsing around Tesco with the missus !!

Clear now ???   lol

But... but... i shop at Asda?

and is that with your missus?

or my missus?

or any random missus?

and

what If i go to the shops Friday night?

:dunno:

Let's hope we do it on Tuesday to piss Sky off.

Living down here, I was hoping we would win last night so that I could join in the celebrations if we win on Friday. As it is, I am half-hoping for draws against Sheff Wed, Brighton and Reading so we can do it against QPR in a couple of weeks. How perverse would that be?

I don't really mean it. I want us to win all seven remaining matches and break yet another record. I love being a City fan.

Its been discussed on Radio just now. If Derby draw or lose and QPR lose on Saturday and we win on Friday night we will DEFINITELY be promoted

Can certainly see it happening this weekend. We "should" beat Wednesday on Friday which leaves qpr having to go to a Bournemouth side who are flying at the min with an outside chance of the playoffs and Derby with a difficult trip to boro.if I was a Betting man then my money would be on qpr an derby not getting the results they need.

Didn't realise we were 16 clear of third, I stopped looking down that far lol, this means if we win on Friday, we would have to lose every game and derby or QPR to win all to overtake us.

Watch Sheff Wed win 0-1 now!

By my reckoning the only way that we won't have a chance of promotion next Tuesday is if we win on Friday and QPR/Derby both lose (Derby could draw).

Otherwise, with a full round of fixtures next Tuesday, even if we lose on Friday and QPR and Derby both win, we could in theory still do it next Tuesday.

As someone else has pointed out on here the goal difference thing is a bit of a misnomer, because for it to come to that we would have to lose every game, and they would have to win every game - not going to happen in any case, but if it did they have a minimum of a 14 point GD swing on us, so could make it up easily.

Preferable situation is we win on Friday, one of QPR and Derby win on Saturday, then we go in to Tuesday night knowing a win guarantees promotion, will be a cracking game!

ermmm i think you will find we have won the league cup 3 times and runners up twice mate. I think you may mean the league TITLE (which incidentally i believe we have won the 2nd division title 6 times)

I can't help but think this time next week we will be promoted. My question is, when is the earliest we can get a C by our name?

Please say its if we beat QPR. I ain't got a clue

the earliest we can be champions is if burnley lose there next 2 games and we win our next 2 we would be 13 points clear of burnley with 5 games to go. Then Burnley play saturday and we play monday away at reading.

So the earliest we can get C next to our name is if Burnley lose on that saturday (Home to Boro) then they would be 13 points behind with 12 to play for.

A draw would put them 12 points behind with 12 to play for

A win for burnley would put them 10 points behind with 12 to play for.

So the earliest we can hav C is on the 12th April but given Burnley may pick up points and we may drop points its looking quite possible that the game at home to QPR could very well be the title winning game. Problem is Burnley play the night before we play QPR (away at blackpool) so its also looking very likely that we could win the title when we not even playing.

Don't know why but there really would be something sweet about clinching something against QPR at home. Hope that's the title confirmation game.

I really don't care if it's at Brighton, Reading, QPR etc. It'd just be nice if it happens when we play.

One thing's for sure - $ky have missed out lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

It HAS to happen on Tuesday. It cannot happen on Saturday.

Here's another scenario....

We lose on Friday <shudder>

QPR and Derby both win on Saturday

We win on Tuesday

QPR and Derby both lose on Tuesday

Tuesday night could be one of those epic matches when we have one eye on the other scores with all the resulting false information and rumours flying around lol

Bring it on.

Basically if we win Friday and Derby fail too win and QPR lose we are up. QPR away to Bournemouth, Derby at Middlesbrough. 2 of the tougher away games during the season id say. Either way, its not far away.

A win on Friday and Yann Kermorgant to score the winner for Bournemouth in the 90th minute from the penalty spot what are the odds?

Posted

The earliest we can be promoted now is 5.00pm on Saturday 5th April.

For this to happen, we need to win on Friday against Sheffield Wednesday.

Then on Saturday, QPR need to lose away at Bournemouth and Derby need to fail to win away at Middlesbrough. If those results and only those results occur, then we're officially up.

Goal difference and what Burnley do has nothing to do with it.

But it's always better to win promotion when you're playing, preferably when you're playing at home so let's hope it's delayed until Tuesday night.

As things stand right now we need 6 points from 7 games to go up. Personally I can't see where our next point is coming from.
