Pre-Season Nerves.

Boy oh boy, I can't wait for the new season to actually start.

The rising wave of negativity throughout the fanbase - not just here, but anywhere associated with LCFC - is embarrasing. I understand that the coming season is going to be tough, yes, but for as long as a competitive ball has yet to be kicked, I find myself trawling through piles and piles of nitpicking rubbish here on FT. Whether it's people bemoaning a draw in a pre-season friendly, folks throwing out conspiracy theories about Pearson's relationship with the owners, toys being thrown out of the pram because we're not signing new players left right and centre or individually picking out every tiny fault with every player in the squad to justify declaring them "unfit for the Premiership" before they've even played a game, it's painfully clear that more and more people are worried about our coming season.

I've got news for you all - yes, it's going to be difficult. Of course it bloody well is - we're playing at the highest level for the first time in a decade, with a squad who more or less all have to prove they can "make the step up." We're not going to romp the league - this year is purely about consolidation. I don't think any of us truly know what to expect until we've played one or two matches.

Tormenting yourselves over every if and but of Leicester's preperations and forthcoming season is ridiculous. Pre-season friendlies mean bog all - otherwise, Chesterfield would be in Europe right now and, if we get any sort of result out of Werder Bremen, we should absolutely romp Chelsea given they were thrashed 3-0 by them yesterday.

I almost feel that people get some sort of masochistic kick out of playing down our chances. Why can't we approach the coming season in any confidence, given the wonderful football we know the team are capable of? At the very least, go do something else until Everton come to town. Only then can we pass any sort of comment on how we might fare in the coming season, and I for one can't wait for it to come - but I'm sure as hell not going to fill the hours by slandering every aspect of the team I love!

Agree with pretty much all of what you said and I do think we'll sign one or two more before the window closes.

I don't actually read/see lots of negative posts, but I do read lots of posts complaining about people being negative.

I certainly have pre season nerves. First game is now at the end of next week. It's been a long time coming, this. We're back in the big time. We all know it will be hard, but let's enjoy it!

Exactly this. Don't think I've seen a single person imply we'll be relegated or be close to being relegated. Just seen people complaining about our defence which at times does seem worthy of slight concern.

Totally agree we're all on edge with anticipation. Sut it's going to be difficult. But I believe were better equipped than Cardiff or Hull were going into last season.

Hopefully we'll catch a few teams out early and settle in quickly.

I think it's important we pick up, if not a win, then a few draws from the first 5 fixtures, but it isn't the end of the world if we don't and I think the fans should be prepared for that eventuality, we should be under no illusions it's probably the hardest start a promoted team has had in many years so if we can pick up a result then we'll be well ahead of schedule imo, even if we're near the bottom after the first 5 fixtures.

I don't take any notice of the negativity. If you can't be positive after the season we've just had then I feel a bit for you really.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve who has slept through the last 10 Christmasses.

I'm normally quite positive and hate it when people criticise the squad. I don't see the point of it. However, my opinion is that I don't think we have enough strength in depth at the moment. Maybe it will get sorted in the next week and we'll be fine. Maybe not.

We certainly shouldn't be panicking...yet.

To be honest, the straw that broke the camel's back for me was that ridiculous thread posted today speculating about Pearson's relationship with the owners based on one minor comment.

5 games in we will be bottom of the league, of that I have little doubt. Thankfully, they'll be a darn good reason for it and we'll then collect points.

oh yes er you er sure !  what ????? wheres my meds ?
