broughtonblue Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 I'm off on a lazy do feck all beach holiday soon so storing a load of podcasts to listen to, downloaded a few talksport, city forums, and sky Sunday supplement ones. Just wondering if you have any favourites, I'm interested in sports, comedy, science (as long as it's not too deep!) nature, If I like what you post I will add them to my list Cheers
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 For comedy I like the Comedian's Comedian and Jeff Garlin: in Conversation With. They both have different guests each week - Jeff Garlin interviewing Larry David is brilliant, it's nearly 2 hours IIRC and has some hilarious bits Frank Skinner's Absolute breakfast show used to be really funny but the past year or so hasn't (seems to coincide with him having his first child)
Guest Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Friday Night Comedy from R4 is good. Other than that I'm mostly into some Walking Dead podcasts and Danny Baker and obviously The Bugle
GLC Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 The Bugle is one of my favourites, always makes me laugh. QIs podcast is very good, it's called no such thing as a fish. If you want a football podcast, the football ramble is the best one to listen too. Also, if you like gaming/movie podcasts, the uk IGN podcast is worth a listen
mozartfox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 If you have trouble snoozing, anything from Stringer helps you to drop off nicely.
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Definately recommend the Bugle. Also listen to 606, voices of the First World War, bbc documentries, history, drama, as well as a couple of poetry podcasts. Also starting to teach myself Spanish while working.
StanSP Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Are there any comedy-football ones about? Or light-hearted football ones? Nothing serious.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Are there any comedy-football ones about? Or light-hearted football ones? Nothing serious. James Richardson's Football Weekly might interest you, not funny-ha-ha but plenty lighthearted and pisstaky
JIMMYWILLIS Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 World football phone in. Bbc up all night. It's amazing every week
StanSP Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 James Richardson's Football Weekly might interest you, not funny-ha-ha but plenty lighthearted and pisstaky Nice one. Listening to it now. Decent .
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Ricky Gervais podcasts are amazing! I wish they'd do more. Still there's a massive backlog of their XFM shows, some of which are unbelievably funny. Songs of Phrase was a running highlight Nice one. Listening to it now. Decent . No problem, it's also about the only football podcast I've found where they don't make typically ignorant predictions. Ian Wright's Rock n Roll Football is also plenty lighthearted but a bit more standard talk radio and a bit less informed. Still a lot more bearable than TalkSport
Vlad the Fox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Ricky Gervais podcasts are amazing! I had to stop listening to them in bed because I would keep waking the mrs laughing and then snorting trying to keep it in.
grth2004 Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Kermode and mayo film reviews - funny and good interviews and reviews if your a film fan Empire - good film reviews and interviews can be funny but a bit geeky but good if you love films Frank Skinner - funny although the co presenters can d your head in worth a listen though

Bettsj2 Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Definately recommend the Bugle. Also listen to 606, voices of the First World War, bbc documentries, history, drama, as well as a couple of poetry podcasts. Also starting to teach myself Spanish while working. Teach yourself Spanish podcast? Got a link?
foxfanazer Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 I had to stop listening to them in bed because I would keep waking the mrs laughing and then snorting trying to keep it in.Funny you should say that. I had a job mail sorting where u could listen to your music etc on your headphones. We would all sit around a big table working and I'd have the Ricky Gervais podcasts on and I'd just be crying of laughter, I think everybody thought I was mental
foxfanazer Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Kermode and mayo film reviews - funny and good interviews and reviews if your a film fan Empire - good film reviews and interviews can be funny but a bit geeky but good if you love films Frank Skinner - funny although the co presenters can d your head in worth a listen though Are the Frank Skinner ones from absolute radio? If so the woman on that is infuriating!!Skinner is great though
Vlad the Fox Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Teach yourself Spanish podcast? Got a link? Coffee break Spanish. It's on podcasts in iTunes or download something like podcast republic on android and it's in there. Here is a web link. http://radiolingua.com/tag/cbs-season-1/page/3/
broughtonblue Posted 5 September 2014 Author Posted 5 September 2014 Thanks for your replies going to check some out, just want to say I've downloaded a few from talksport titled 'my sporting life'. 90 min interviews with various sportsmen/women. Had a brief listen to a couple and they seem decent. Keep others coming, will need loads to fill 10 hour days sunbathing next to the all inclusive bar on the beach
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 The XFM ones are better than the podcasts imo. Rock busters, monkey news and Karl's diary are my personal favourites I agree "Those Jamaican fellas are swinging fish round their 'ead. D.S." I'll also put forward Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre podcast for comedy. Quite hit and miss (and Herring is very divisive) but some great guests
FoxyPV Posted 5 September 2014 Posted 5 September 2014 Comedy bang bang is pretty good as is 'How did this get made?' Which is a show talking about terrible films. I went through the back catalogue and it kept me going for a while, ignore the mini episodes though. The Game with Gab Marcotti is very good. Fighting Talk is a personal favourite. Wittertainment and the bugle have already been mentioned.
