MC Prussian Posted 28 October 2014 Posted 28 October 2014 A project by data freak Virgil Griffith: He puts the US SAT scores for Uni students in relation to their favourite bands. http://musicthatmakesyoudumb.virgil.gr
Charl91 Posted 28 October 2014 Posted 28 October 2014 Well, according to that, I'm an idiot. Seems legit.
ozleicester Posted 28 October 2014 Posted 28 October 2014 I must listen to the bottom band.. im so dumb i cant even make it big enough to read. lol oh right, click the link not the pic
Trav Le Bleu Posted 28 October 2014 Posted 28 October 2014 About 50% of the music on there I know only by name. Very Americentric. Love a bit of Sufjan Stevens though. I'm so clever I event new words!
Fox92 Posted 28 October 2014 Posted 28 October 2014 What a load of rubbish. Beatles and Dylan near the top, mind. So I guess I'm fine going with that!
The Doctor Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Beatles, Coldplay and U2 fans more intelligent than Hendrix fans? Clearly intelligence doesn't aid itself to good music taste then.

I know you're not a Beatles fan but please don't include them in the same sentence of Coldplay and U2. And you do know that Hendrix was a massive fan of, and massively influenced by, The Beatles don't you?

As for influences - big whoop: Metallica influenced Mastodon, but Mastodon are good while Metallica have been poor for a while.

But they changed once they hit drugs and wrote Revolver. Even as a massive fan, I don't really listen to much of their early stuff. I take your point about influences but the likes of Hendrix, Dylan, Bowie, Weller, Gallagher etc cannot all be wrong. The Beatles were far from "crap".

Of course they can - that's like saying that Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot & Chairman Mao mean Marx can't have been wrong. The amount of people who buy an idea doesn't give legitimacy to the idea.
Bettsj2 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Lets be honest about Hendrix. Phenomenal guitarist and changed the face of the rock genre but when it comes to his music, there are about 10 songs which are basically gifts from the Gods. The rest are pretty difficult to listen to.
Finnegan Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Let's be honest, most Hendrix fans would be too ****ing stoned to study. Actually, having just this minute thought about it, the biggest moron I knew at uni was a Hendrix fan. I ended up having to live with him, bone fide thick ****.
