Okay let's explore 'building' using a building analogy.

In days of yore a house would be built foundation upwards.

Nowadays the 'building' is actually just redecorating, some lucky ones even manage a loft conversion or a conservatory. But that's as far a building teams goes nowadays.

Not really sure what you mean by that.

I think strengthening a squad over four transfer windows, allowing the players time to play together and become a united team as well as signing young players in the knowledge that they would progress over time is a pretty good example of 'building' a squad and a team ethic. Whether that can be translated into a construction analogy I don't know, but it's football we're talking about here, it's going to look different.

A loss tonight and at the Villa on Sunday and he has to go.

Tactically poor, no plan B, poor judgement on buying players and giving extended contracts to even poorer players.

Time to go

Few problems with this post.

1) it's not a blip

2) there is a lot of crap, but we are too, so pointless saying it.

Its just a BIGGER blip than most!!

We aint at the point where fans are sibgibg pearson out...we could just be 1 game away frim a good run.

Yes we are just as crap as others, but do we want to be one of them clubs swappibg managers every seasin

The most sucessful clubs are those with longstanding managers.

Doesnt NP deserve ABIT if time to put things right?

Its not like we are getting whupped 3/4-0 is it?

Just ONE game away from a good run....thats all it could be......

From what? I post on here so much it's hard to keep track of what is said...

I've pretty much always had faith in Pearson. It's slowly diminishing but the improved performances of late have given me encouragement. I just think there's a lot of "the grass is greener on the other side" stuff going on for some fans. To me, the results of this poll are telling and, in fact, the majority of Leicester fans are backing Pearson to get us out of this rut.

The main thing for me is how hard it is to prove that doing things differently in previous games would have got us a better result. It's all well and good fans having their opinions on wingers, the diamond, Pearson sitting in the stand etc... but they are nothing more than opinions. Some may try and disguise them as facts but in the end no-one can prove that doing so would have got us a better result. In that sense, you can only really judge the manager on results and performances. Results have been very poor and there was a point where performances were also poor (Swansea away, Southampton away, WBA at home etc...). However, I think the last two games have been an improvement and we really aren't far off turning a corner. I think we've been unlucky not to take more points from the Sunderland and QPR games and we have shown more creativity in those two matches than in all the matches combined between the Man Utd and Sunderland games. It's funny because people talk about not getting battered being a good thing, then others complain that a loss is a loss (no matter how we perform) and the rest just want us to "have a go" if we are going to go down. I think you started a very good thread on contradictions the other day and I very much agree with it all. Pearson can't win over all fans. However, it would be good to start picking up more points!

I also think, ultimately, it's a learning curve for all of us. Players, fans and the manager are all new to the league as it is right now and we need to have a little more patience and perspective. I feel that the change that would come about from sacking Pearson is too much, considering how it is his side he has built over a few years. The Thais have also been building the club, both as a brand and with infrastructure from the youth right up to buying the stadium. I think they see Nigel as the man to take their project forward and will have learnt from expensive past mistakes that it's not always the right thing to be short-termist and sack the manager after a little struggle. I and they could be wrong and Pearson could turn out to not be up to it at this level. Phrases such as "tactically inept" are often thrown about with little thought, almost like buzzwords for when a manager or team is struggling. I don't think this is the case for us, I just don't think some of the players have stepped up to the mark and Pearson may have had too much faith in the squad. Who knows what difficulties came up with transfers in the summer so I can't automatically blame him for that.

That leaves me thinking that he is the right man, he's turned it around before and even though he's shown signs of naivety (well, what I perceive to be naivety) I think he will turn it around again. We've already started to improve and, hopefully, tonight is a turning point. Personally, it's still too early to tell what the rest of the season has to offer. That is, apart from the fact we are in a relegation fight. But who didn't know that anyway??

Good post, I seem to remember you definitely wanted him out but I'm glad you've seen the positives in recent performances whereas some people can't.

Pearson has taken us from the lowest point in our history to the premier league. He's the perfect fit for us and needs time as he's also adjusting to the league. I'd love to hear a Nigel Pearson chant tonight, to just show the players, owners and the non-playing staff that we are still behind him. Small things like this could give the team the lift required.

Yeah and if we lose you will certainly hear a Pearson chant .   :nigel:

He's not 'out of his depth' tactically. The tactics we need are fairly obvious and just what every other struggling team does.

He just needs to go 4-5-1 for the rest of the season and STICK TO IT, rather than chopping and changing every game. Pack the midfield. Play on the break. Close down games when we're in sight of valuable points. Don't play players out of position. Don't go gung-ho away from home. Don't ask players to perform roles that they're not familiar with (eg Konchesky at wing-back, James as attacking midfielder, Vardy on the wing, Ulloa dropping deep).

Pearson has done the hard bit in creating a motivated, talented young squad.

Pretty much this - especially the emboldened underscored.
