Harry - LCFC Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 Been a bit hit and miss this season. Good player and I totally disagree with people who say he's "not good enough" over a few games, especially when he's shown in others that he is capable at this level. Cambiasso's one inswinging corner told you all you need to know about who should be taking set pieces though.
fuchsntf Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 I do agree with col that 4-4-2 is not the way to go. We're so ****ing exposed it's incredible that he hasn't changed it at all. everyweek we see so many different opinions on formations, not long ago some were screaming for 4-4-2, then last ditch statements like the above...'its incredible that he hadnt changed it at all', where have you been ?? He HAS changed and mixed, obviously there is more of us(fans), but even the ca 1000 fans on here cant agree, on 4-4-2, or any other set up. What chance does a manager or coaches have, if your top players from last season, are way behind any expected form, and the teams defending not just at tha back, but the ball in general, plus fewer than last season , but still there, not converting some of the easier chances, our moves and passing too hectic. Opinions and critic is easier, but what do you do,when nothing is working or not any group of players standing up and showing themselves.
Greg2607 Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 You can't look at Matty James as the sole reason that we aren't winning games. I think it's more to do with an unblanced side. We have absolutely no genuine quality down the left hand side. time and again, schlupp collects the ball and then either mis-controls it, over runs it (and a defender takes it off of him) or runs into blind alleys. As such, we are fairly one dimensional in our attacks, we spray the ball out to Mahrez and it's easy for teams to read this, put two defenders on him and we are suddently relying on long balls to the front two. IF we had a strong left winger, who could commit (and beat!!) the defender, then we would be much more dangerous in attack. Moreover, when our midfielders are making forward runs with the expectation that Schlupp will lay on a pass, or the forwards will bring them into play, we lose it and are then over-commited in the attack, the opposition counters and time and again set up chances to score. Fundamentally, we need to be panicking less on the ball, actually make our passes count and find a way be effective down both flanks.
Bamba's Babes Posted 8 December 2014 Author Posted 8 December 2014 We need a mean b@stard in the middle.
Jimmy Posted 8 December 2014 Posted 8 December 2014 IF we had a strong left winger, who could commit (and beat!!) the defender, then we would be much more dangerous in attack. we have 1 but we seem to insist on playing him down the right despite the fact he stars internationally on the left
Rasmic123 Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 james is a good holding midfielder but he does not get forward well and for this reason, he cant play with cambiasso because then we have 2 very defensive midfielders and not enough cutting edge.
Bablemikey Posted 9 December 2014 Posted 9 December 2014 He has to play with Cambiasso to cover for the lack of pace.
