We are simply missing a midfield ball-winner. He don't even have to be much good at football. Just break up attacks. Stick to position, perform his role. I've said this until I'm blue in the face.

Someone, I notice, has given Cambiasso the customary 8 out of ten...

For me, and I said this in the in-game thread, he ran out of steam again after about 60 minutes. When they took hold, you pretty much knew how it was going to end. We need a drum-beater, to enable the flutist to do his best work further forward. Cambiasso and James, in a flat 4-4-2 is not the way to go. There's not enough energy there.

I can't believe Pearson did this again. What is he doing? He's digging his own grave

Yes, every so often, then ran out of steam. Why? Because he's box to box in a flat 4-4-2. And he tires.

Read the match thread.

Wow.

I agree with you....... :nigel:

We need to go back to basics....

Ulloa up top on his own, attacking width out wide where mahrez and schlupp/albrighton/knocky have to do less tracking back.

James and king sitting, with Cambiasso a little further forward....

Something like....

.............................GK

.de laet.....moore............Was.....Schlupp

.................James.............King

.........................Cambiasso

.Mahrez...........................................Knocky? (Why not)

............................Ulloa

Get de laet and Schlupp forward, and get james and king sitting for 2 reasons.....

1) James and king are far better at defending than our wide players.....

2) Ulloa needs crosses....

As much as i love vardy, Iain hume of the premier league is all he has been thus far.

I don't dislike him as a player but how the fvck can a professional be so awful at such an essential part of their job? What the hell does he do all week?

Think he's been good in recent weeks but some of those crosses were criminal and he also loses out on a hell of a lot of ariel battles against shorter opponents.

Confidence?

No, give him some help by having someone BEHIND him. Let him do his passing where it's gonna hurt the opposition.

I see your point, but I feel Cambiasso is better trying to dictate play from a deeper position then trying to be a 'number 10'

As much as I've loved Cambiasso so far I think it was quite clear after about 60/70 minutes he needed swapping with Drinkwater.  He's played quite a bit of football recently and it started to show.  Very good first half but we needed more energy in the middle second half.  It's difficult because he's being asked to do too much.  His pass to Vardy in the first half was a pass no one else in our team could have pulled off so quickly and his footwork at the beginning of Ulloa's goal was tremendous.  So it is difficult to take him off if you're losing the game - but it needed doing today for the team's benefit.

His corners and free kicks are dreadful every game.

I cant understand why Cambiasso is not taking them?

James is like the rest he tries, unfortunately the quality is not there for the ruthless premier league

.

Completely disagree, he's got great qualities which have shone in some of the last few games. I think the he's being used as a scapegoat for his poor set peices!

Going down that route u could abuse everyone

De laet- dives in

Vardy- runs round like headless chicken

Kasper- distribution is shocking.

Nugent- not good enough

We see James as a great target for a scapegoat, does the dirty work incredibly well, he's not going to be everyone's cup of tea. His performances are not always stand out, a vital part of the midfield non the less. Similar to a Carrick for utd, lampard now in his older years at City,

Cambiasso just didn't see enough of the ball today, little times he did we were able to see the quality of his passing range. He was breaking up play well at times, especially in the first half but our main problem today was reacting to second balls. James & Cambiasso simply couldn't cover the spaces where the balls were dropping in, we simply needed another midfielder in there, or a player who plays behind the striker but is capable of dropping back into midfield. As I've mentioned today also our passing game has completely gone out of the window, we seem scared to bring it down & play, and fans going on about bringing Drinkwater back into the side, quite frankly his passing this season hasn't been great. I would seriously look to introduce Hammond or King back into the team, two players who are always willing to pass the ball.

But they also need better quality alongside them, is the answer a defensive midfielder so we can allow the likes of James, Cambiasso, Drinkwater & King to look forward, or do we actually need an attacking midfield who can create more chances for us, do we even need both?

Sometimes we need three in the middle, but we are also better when we play with wingers, so which formation do we bloody go for  lol

We have tactical FLEXIBILITY my friend.

Three games in a flat 4-4-2, 8 goals conceded.

Cmon Nigel for fooks sake...

The funny thing is, the fans wanted a return to 4-4-2 after Burnley.....

That is why i would never trust their decision on sacking a manager.

Like everyone he's been poor in recent weeks, and he was woeful tonight, but he's certainly one of our better players.

It's harsh to judge individuals at this stage when no one can do a thing right - based on his time at the club since he joined James is well worth his place in the squad. But based on tonight, he should be dropped for Drinkwater next match.

Yep but whatever we play doesn't seem to work, unless we play Man Utd every week.

where is the mahrez thread then? cause he was way worse than james.

No way did you see James' positioning on top of his terrible set plays and zero defensive ability the guy was totally lost today...he looked like he had absolutely No idea what he was supposed to do

James is terrible. I wouldn't only drop him but loan him out...NOT a premier league player

James has been our MOTM in perhaps two of our last five. So god knows how shit the rest of them are.

He was poor today, but has been good in other games. Overreactions really aren't needed at the minute.

I think we need to accept there isn't one player playing consistently well at the moment, and stop picking on any individuals.

Some people's opinions on players seem to swing dramatically but I can think of very few players who I've learnt something about so far this season. I know what they're capable of and I know what they're like when they're under-performing.

Players cannot reach their potential the way things are at the moment. Some of them aren't good enough and some of them are much better than this. Some of them are always lacking and others are just inconsistent. Some have potential to improve and some are just poor players at this level.

It's not a time to scapegoat players, not even the ones who are constantly poor match after match. There is obviously a bigger problem than one player playing badly. Even when some of these poor players were playing earlier in the season, they were being carried by the rest of the team.
