Taylor Fletcher Vs Lloyd Dyer

Yeah let's blame our joint second top scorer and possibly out top assist man of the season so far.

For all his skill and flare Mahrez has been no more effective then jeff...

Wrong. Mahrez has been let down by poor finishers (and he's one himself in truth). In our first three games he created a one on one and all three chances were spurned. You can't put that down to Mahrez.

No but I'm not blaming Mahrez either just pointing out that Jeff has been just as effective as Riyad

Mahrez has created four clear opportunities through good play (Schlupp v Everton, Nugent v Chelsea, Ulloa v Arsenal and Vardy at QPR), of which none were taken and only half on target. His stats should be a lot better.

I thought dyer was happy to stay, but the club had a policy of giving over 30 players a one year contract yet Wes got a three year deal. He was unhappy at the club breaking their policy and subsequently left.

Even though I've just said that poor finishing has ruined Mahrez's assist stats. How many clear cut chances has Schlupp created for others this year? Hardly any. I can think of two, which both ended in goals (Ulloa v Arsenal, Mahrez v Burnley). If it wasn't for poor finishing Mahrez would have about 6, if not more.

Add to that the ball through for Vardy v Liverpool than ended with Ulloa's goal, add another to the QPR game.

With better finishing Mahrez would be looking at a minmum of eight/nine assists now. Which would have him in second behind Fabregas, you can see why big teams are looking at him, whack him in Villarreal's team and Vietto won't be spurning those through balls.

Erm but doesn't jeff have the same strikers to work with? Ever thought that the fact he gets down the line and puts a cross in might be the service that suits Ulloa best? We've scored from 1 Riyad cross, Jeff scored it btw.

I love Riyad but maybe if he actually put a cross in from time to time, you know like wingers are supposed to, Ulloa would get more chances to score

Absolutely which is why I've been so disappointed he has barely tried to do it this season, even with a defensive full back behind him for cover.

The Sunderland game he had a chance to do this all match and put a measly one cross in that went along the floor. If Jeff does have 'all the attributes' of power, pace, speed etc it's a complete mystery why he isn't able to get to the byline and deliver these balls on a regular basis like he did against Arsenal.

I would imagine he's playing to instructions and let's not forget all of his experience as a winger has come this season, he's still learning the position

I very much doubt anyone is telling him not to run at defenders and try and create chances for the strikers.

Learning the position? Beat people and cross the ball, that's what wingers do. I know he's got a reputation as being a bit thick but surely he doesn't need to learn that. He seemed to show more going forward at LB than he does at LW. I don't get it.

He has Konchesky at left back Jeff's main role is to double up there otherwise Riyad would be on the left with Knockaert/Albrighton on right, personally I wan't BOTH on the left with Konchesky gone but that ain't going to happen

Jeff is gonna be 'learning' a different position throughout his whole career at this rate.

Either stick him at left back or don't play the bloke.

Until we do finally pay out for a new left back, he's our next best option.

But he doesn't do that nearly often enough. Name some more examples if you can think of any - but I can think of two occasions where Schlupp put in a ball that lead to a chance of significance. At least Dyer used to actually get into a good enough position to make up for the fact he couldn't cross that well.

Mahrez would put more crosses in if he was playing on the left and Albrighton would put them in if he was on the right. Schlupp, for me, doesn't contribute enough to our attacking.

Posted

Schlupp's vision and awareness is poor, he's not very composed either so that's why he makes loads of sideways passes - Mahrez' passing is varied and purposeful

Posted

The fact anyone would favour Schulpp over Mahrez shows how wrong the attitude of English football is sometimes.

Preferring man with 'all the attributes' supposedly of power and pace etc despite being clumsy and laughable on the ball to a skilful skinny winger who can often do majestic things with the ball at his feet and often dazzle supporters.

This is how we ended up with Vassell or Heskey off the striker for the national team rather than Joe Cole.

Mahrez should go to Villarreal, he would thrive in a technical league like La Liga.

It's almost as though people have forgotten how infuriating and frustrating Lloyd could be and his usual hibernation period between November and March.

I like the bloke, enjoyed watching him play but, as usual, he's improved hugely since he left in the eyes of some.

This, as soon as a player has a run out the team or is sold it's exactly what we're missing, the final piece in the jigsaw etc, and is obviously complete bollocks.

Come on now. Look how even our best players have struggled in the prem. ANY decent premier league right back would have snuffed Lloyd outta the game.

A question for all you City social network would be managers ?

Taylor Fletcher was given a year contract... Not played and has been fooooked off as not wanted (so now on loan never to be seen again??)

Loyld Dyer only offered a one year deal wanted two year deal and he left!" so is currently on the bench at Watford ladies!?

So in My opinion we could have had a good impact player on the bench in Dyer with not bothering to extend Taylor Fletcher's contract and giving loyal Loyld an extra year as wished?

I would appreciate your thoughts you lovely boys and errr girls? ( I have to be PC these days and include everyone)

Up the foxes ( I hope so, as we can go no further down)

What get me is you start a thread without any research or thought.

I will give you the GTF contract as that one baffles me too.

Lloyd wanted 2 years we offered one he did not want that and went to Watford.

If he can not get a game in the championship how was the club wrong?

Saying that when GTF could not get a start why did we give him enough appearences so we had to give him another year?

The GTF contract is / was wrong.

But sorry the club is not wrong with Lloyd he can't play championship so the prem no way.

Did he? I thought Schlupp did but may be wrong. If he didn't then I'm sure he played a part. Burnley was Schlupp's best game this season if I remember rightly.
