Worst Performance Since October Sees First Defeat In 2015 For City

Barclays Premier League
King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester City 0

Stoke City 1
Krkic 63′

Jeff Schlupp returned from injury to win the man of the match vote (5.62) on the same day as the start of the African Cup of Nations. Schlupp's appearance in the home defeat to Stoke aggravated Ghana but will certainly be welcomed by City supporters as he offered one of City's few attacking threats in a disappointing display overall. The team performance (4.84) was the worst since the Swansea City defeat back in October, not surprising considering the only other players to score above average were the two who made up the top three. Anthony Knockaert (5.59) did enough to warrant second place, while the 28 minute performance of record signing and Croatia international Andrej Kramaric (5.58) saw him finish third.

There were disappointing performances throughout the rest of the team with the midfield and strikers faring particularly badly. Tom Lawrence (3.50) did not impress as the voting supporters felt his performance was bad enough to rank considerably lower than the rest of the team despite his short time on the field. The midfield pair of Danny Drinkwater (4.40) and Andy King (4.11) well and truly lost their battle with the more physical Stoke midfield of N'Zonzi and Whelan, while last season's prolific strike force of Nugent (4.11) and Vardy (4.12) was ineffective.

Nigel Pearson dropped to his lowest confidence rating (82.23%) since before Christmas with his biggest single drop in confidence other than the QPR defeat. It was clear that many blamed Pearson's selection for the defeat and this was reflected in his low match rating (3.94). No blame can be attached to referee Andre Marriner for the defeat after he put in a decent refereeing performance (5.69) in his first Leicester match this season. Some credit has to go to Stoke (5.94) who despite not creating too much were tough opposition, being voted the tenth best performance City have faced as they kept the Foxes at arms length throughout.

I can't believe Pearson's had three games where he did worse than that. I'd have had it comfortably bottom. Dodgy team selection, dodgy substitutions.

Which performances were worse? I thought it was no better than Swansea.

18) 3.60 - WBA (H)

19) 3.49 - Southampton (A)

20) 3.19 - Swansea (A)

I didn't start recording it until September so Shrewsbury probably would have been down there too.

Swansea was worse.

Southampton was probably voted worse because we didn't actually try to win the game, which is understandable.

It was a poor result, performance, dodgy team selection/subs.......but I cannot think the greatest disappointment was that we approached the game with such hope - what with Kram signing, upturn in form and the dream of getting out of the bottom 3 -it was going to be a long way down.......

I don't know whats worse. Schulpp 1st, Kramaric 3rd or the fact King polled above anyone.

What an absolute shambles of a day. It could have been momentus for us getting out the bottom three and it almost feels like the day the renewed hope vanished.

First half against Stoke wasn't disastrous. No one could have complained had we gone in 1-0 up at the break. It wasn't that bad. It was nowhere near as bad as Swansea, Southampton, and even the first half away at Stoke all those months ago.

Second half was disgraceful though.

I think for most of the supporters here a match is like a woman's period. The mood swings are just annoying.
