Rasmic123 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 James MOTM, him and cambiasso looked like a great improvement over king and drinky. hahahahahahahahaha, you must have been hitting the hard stuff last night
65RosesFox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I thought Vardy looked sharp when he came on, and the Vardy of last season. he had two good efforts on target and Speroni made two very good saves, as someone above mentioned, against a Championship keeper I'm sure he would've got on the score sheet at least once.
Dickov22 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 hahahahahahahahaha, you must have been hitting the hard stuff last night He's right though. Cambiasso and James played pretty well. Two of the better players for us yesterday.
dbtcity Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 You should maybe try watching the game with your eyes open. Best reason I can think of for you to be so wrong. Cambiasso, Was and Mahrez were head and shoulders above everyone else with the three subs also doing very well when they came on.I guess when I've got my eyes open and I see the player he's marking running off him as he jogs back must not be happening then? He's a central midfielder who doesn't seem to fancy a tackle win anything in the air or really like marking his man, his punts forward rarely hit there man either, the one thing I will give him is he doesn't panic on the ball and keeps it moving left or right starting counter attacks quickly but unfortunately in a 2 man midfield he gets found out, maybe if he had a free role in a middle 3 I wouldn't notice it as he wouldn't have the responsibility of picking anyone up but the majority of the time we have 2 in there which leaves us so exposed it's untrue as like I said before he doesn't track back with his man there fore leaving his midfield partner trying to hunt down 2 or 3 players.... I guess you don't see any of this with your eyes wide open???
Guest Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Thought Schwarzer looked good. Mahrez was class Nugent was good Wasyl was great Cambiasso gets overated. He makes a few good quick passes but he fails on a few too, worse than that he's a liability on defence. Most players were neither poor nor good. Ulloa was below average. Simpson was outstandingly bad. Would hope to see Huth in for Morgan, De Laet in for Simpson, Hammond in for Cambiasso, Kramaric in for Ulloa (keep him for the last 20 mins hoofball) and maybe Schlupp replacing Konch allowing Mahrez and Albrighton to play on the wings.
Dan Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 We cannot afford to carry a striker who "only scores goals" at this level, especially when he has only scored 2 goals in our last 19 league matches. Didn't realise his record was quite that bad. It really is Chris Wood all over again.
Ian S Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Agreed but he's Esteban Cambiasso so on that basis alone he deserves a 7 Sadly you are correct, however I would say the same for Mahrez, great for 20 minutes but fades away.

I guess you don't see any of this with your eyes wide open??? Pearson's fault for playing him in a 2. He's so far ahead of his teammates in terms of vision, passing ability and actually your point about him in the air I disagree with. I think he's pretty good for his size. I agree he does get left behind on occasion, he does sometimes look a little slow. However, in my opinion he's that good we should build the side around him. Stick him with James and Hammond/DD and he'd be even better. He was head and shoulders the best player in the first half for either side.
reynard Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I honestly must watch a different cambiasso to everyone else as I see an old man who's legs have gone, sees a pass others don't..... yes thats because it's not there, to slow, weak in the tackle offers no cover for whoever plays in the middle with him and constantly just let's people run off him!!! I will probably get shot down but if he was a no name we snapped up from Italy he wouldn't get half the love in he gets he'd be getting hammered Actually I tend to agree. Yesterday was a typical performance really. One or two great passes but so many woeful overhead flicks that just gave the ball back to them. It looks like he's ok for a few minutes each match but no more than that and how the hell did he miss from to yards out or was he just too slow.
Bamba's Babes Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Matty James was awful. Too many times he is behind the ball and not driving from midfield or passing forward.
Guest MattP Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Wasyl MOM. Mahrez, Cambiasso decent. Ulloa, Morgan and Schulpp embarrassingly out of their depth.
Dickov22 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Matty James was awful. Too many times he is behind the ball and not driving from midfield or passing forward. Rubbish. Had a decent game
Guest MattP Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Whenever James is in midfielder we don't seem to get overran. He does have a presence a man like King could never have.
Dickov22 Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Whenever James is in midfielder we don't seem to get overran. He does have a presence a man like King could never have. I agree. He's a strong player in my opinion. Good engine, good tackler, doesn't get pushed off the ball. Best central midfielder we have (and he was last season too)
cjslcfc Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 I agree. He's a strong player in my opinion. Good engine, good tackler, doesn't get pushed off the ball. Best central midfielder we have (and he was last season too) I agree but I still don't think yesterday was one of his better games. Thought he wasn't that involved overall. That said, I want him to be the future of our midfield. I think Pearson also rates him as our best midfielder too. He has a great engine on him and we don't really get overran when he plays there. He just needs to brush up on his shooting and he'd be a fantastic box-to-box midfielder.

I've seen him play better but he's miles ahead of Andy King and unfortunately Drinkwater. That said, my starting 11 would always involve 3 centre mids - Cambiasso James and probably Drinkwater. Feel a bit sorry for Drinkwater this season. I don't feel he's had a real run of games to get any rhythm. Would have liked to see more of him and James in the same 11. Just hasn't happened
Sunbury Fox Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Was MOTM for me. Looked composed throughout and his distribution was solid. Mahrez and Cambi very good in patches. But we have at least 3 players out there whose confidence is totally shot - Konch, Nuge and Morgan. Nuge was decent to be fair but his finishing is farcical.

Just hasn't happened My order of CMs this season goes Cambiasso James Hammond King Drinkwater (GTF ) I think the biggest disappointment of this season has been DD by far. I know he hasn't had a real run of games but his passing has been nowhere near as good, he looks like a rabbit in the headlights when he gets on the ball and he needs to be involved to play well. A lot of games have just passed him by. Nevertheless, if we go down I'd hope that we can keep the James and DD partnership together that did so well for us last season. Let that build up even more and DD could re-find his confidence and form. The biggest surprise has undoubtedly been Hammond. He is suited to us having less position and needing a guy to break up the play.
ADK Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 Cambiasso and James really suit each other in a two. I really thought we were dominant in midfield, the only success Palace had was through Zaha against Simpson and by hoofing it over our centre midfield to exploit Morgan's lack of composure. Yes it would be nice if Esteban Cambiasso was 5-6 years younger but he would never ever play for us then. If Gerrard has a game as good as Cambiasso then he gets huge praise. If people couldn't see the difference between us yesterday and with King and Drinkwater in the middle then I don't they are that knowledgeable about football.

Unabomber Posted 8 February 2015 Posted 8 February 2015 That's funny because he was by quite some distance. Cambiasso was pretty poor so I find it laughable you even put him in the equation. Mahrez flattered to deceive again, tricky but what did he actually create? What? Cambiasso and Mahrez were comfortably our two best players yesterday. Morgan, Simpon, Ulloa 2. Cambiasso Mahrez 6. Everyone else 5.
