  1. 1. I feel...

    • ...optomistic and think we have a strong chance of staying up looking at how bad other sides are as well as ourselves.

    • ...that we have a chance of staying up if we are still just a few points behind after the next 3 games

    • ...we're gonna need luck, but crazier things have happened

    • ...like giving up. We're down. 100%, and if we survive ill give £20 to the foxes foundation.

Just want to see how the forum feels at the moment towards survival without having to wade through pages of the same fools repeating themselves.

Were gonna need luck. We lost a game today that was one of our must win games therefore we will need to beat our other must win games a la burnley, hull, Qpr, west brom, Newcastle and we now need to beat another team like Everton for instance.

Add another,

Nigel to stay or go... would be interesting at this point

Short of a remarkable improvement and other teams having a ropey run, we're down. Realistically, left ourselves way too much to do.

An unexpected win at Arsenal and we're where we wanted to be. I do think we need some luck though.

Hahahahahahaha PMSL Hahahahaha a win at Arsenal Hahahahahahaha PMSL.....sorry this is the funniest thing I've heard in my life

I went for option 4.  Its not so much that we are only 3 points off safety.  More the fact that regardless of the situation now we are still  going to need at the very LEAST, 15 more points to have even a remote chance of staying up.   Thats 4 wins and 3 draws or 5 wins.  We don't look capable of beating anybody let alone 5 teams.   And thats just to get 32 points which I'd guess is the absolute lowest required to stay up should results go for us more often than not for the remainder of the season.    We are probably going to need 36/37 points to really be in with a shout and thats just not happening.

I think he's highlighting how close we actually are to the other teams around us, which is true. We're far from relegated.

True...reminds me a bit when we scraped into the playoffs last day against Forest....we went on a shocking run that season and only made play offs due to other teams above us being shit.

I see what you're saying or should I say he's saying but you can't lose at home to WBA Stoke and Palace but expect to go to The Emirates against an Arsenal side riled by dropping 3 points to arch rivals Spurs and hope for anything but maybe and I mean maybe a point

You are optimistic, but also sensibly balanced, and I admire you for that.

The fourth one down.

I feel like I've watched today's game four times already. It isn't a co-incidence.

Someone has to be!

Seriously though, cheers DT. 75% of me is optimistic about our chances of staying up.

I think we are going down. Don't get me wrong I hope we don't, but I don't see us staying up realistically. We are a championship side currently.

I could have gone for any of options 2-4, but have gone for option 4 - the most realistic after today.

If we'd won today, I'd have probably gone for option 2, that's how tight the margins are in this league.

We're absolutely NOT a rubbish footballing side at this level. Never mind 3, there are at least 6-7 poorer footballing sides than us in this division......but......unfortunately.....

If you miss most of your chances and don't have the confidence that you're going to score if you shoot (I'm thinking the Nugent & Cambiasso chance today, here)....and if you repeatedly concede goals from set pieces (today, among other days) and/or make 1 or 2 important defensive errors (other days - or, at least, punished on other days).....then you're going to get relegated!

It's NOT all over yet. There are scenarios that could see us survive.

The most likely one is:

(1) we pull off a surprise win in the next 3-4 games (Everton looking the most feasible), as we're really not THAT bad a side at this level, despite the major failings outlined above;

(2) At least 3 other relegation-threatened sides get very few points from the next 3-4 games (entirely feasible - Hull, QPR & Villa, for example, really are very poor sides)...AND

(3) Kramaric comes good and has a purple patch, scoring half a dozen goals in the last couple of months of the season (doesn't look likely so far, but he's only just arrived, is still adapting - and we know what strikers are like, either hot or not (and I've a lot of faith in Pearson's player acquisition record). Taking chances has been our single biggest failing this season. Yes, we've been rubbish at set pieces (attack & defence) and have made stupid defensive cock-ups, but our goals/chances ratio must surely be the worst in the division?

Unfortunately, we now have to hope for (1), (2) AND (3) to happen in order to survive....which is why I've gone for the pessimistic option 4 in the survey.

Oh! And we should stand by Pearson! We will probably go down now, I think, but we stand a much better chance of staying up by sticking with him (as the players are doing) - and a much better chance of making a swift return if we do go down.
