AKCJ Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Funny it's now the last thing you look for, considering we scored plenty of goals from excellent kasper distribution last season. I can think of one. Vardy vs QPR. Please enlighten me.
ImBlue Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 I can think of one. Vardy vs QPR. Please enlighten me. vardy millwall at home. Not always assists but his distribution used to set up a lot of attacks very quickly,
Gio Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 I love how Ben Hamer has become Manuel Neuer after a couple of mistakes from Schwarzer. His kicking is an embarrassment plus he has made plenty of mistakes himself for both Spurs goals and against Man City. What a joke. Against man city? No keeper is expected to stop a shot taken from a few yards out unless it's straight at him. The player/s at fault for that goal were the midfielders not tracking back properly. As for spurs. The free kick is not really his fault if the idiots in the wall jumped out the way. I'm not making out that Hamer is amazing but based on form he's easily been the best. Don't really care too much about distribution to be honest, preventing goals is his main job. Good Distribution is an extra and something he can work on to improve

lestajigs Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Bit bored on a Monday afternoon, and puzzled by the continued selection of MS, so thought I'd look at the data given our Club's emphasis on Sports Science Goalkeeper League Games Played Clean Sheets Goals conceded Average goals conceded Schwarzer 4 0 8 2 Hamer 8 3 8 1 Schmeichel 14 1 26 1.9 Reasonably clear cut, is it not? Not really, I dont understand a word of this
harpendenfox Posted 23 February 2015 Author Posted 23 February 2015 Just to add to my data smorgasbord: Goalie Games Played Points in those Games Kasper 14 7 Ben 8 10 Mark 4 1 But yes, Ben's distribution is dreadful. Two of his goals conceded were the Liverpool penalties at Anfield. One was the result of Konch's backpass against West Ham. His only error leading to a goal, in my opinion, was the Spurs free kick (second goal) lestajigs, on 23 Feb 2015 - 5:07 PM, said:Not really, I dont understand a word of this If you read my original post the layout makes it easier to understand I hope?
mintyda Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 I sit near the dug outs and Pearson frequently went ballistic at gamers distribution
ImBlue Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 I think Hamers kicks have sometimes got that much luck when he has sliced/hooked it they actually look good. Truth is, he had the worst distribution I've seen from a pro/semi pro goalkeeper ever and even the players are guessing as to where it will go. Oh and he's so scared to get the ball, he takes forever to get it under control and I think it makes the defence uneasy passing back. Whereas under pressure you could give kasper anything and it was mopped up
Soar Fox Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Heard from someone who works at the club that the defence haven't got much confidence in Hamer. Before games he sits in the changing room looking nervous & quiet. Where as Schwarzer is much more vocal and talks to the defence giving instructions. They also feel more comfortable when passing the ball back to Schwarzer in matches.
ImBlue Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Oh, so two? I thought you said there were plenty? Come on, it was a weapon for us and often sparked counter attacks. The best keepers in the world are excellent with the ball at there feet and can distribute well. As well as commanding your area is say it's more important than shot stopping itself.
Gio Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 No keeper should be beaten from his near post from a free kick especially. Don't agree tbh. Free kick would have gone straight into the wall if they didn't move. Because they moved he obviously saw it late and was also expecting a cross as any keeper would have from that position. Also it went in off the post, would have taken a world class save to stop it. Even so that's one (debatable) serious mistake in 8 games. Schmeichel's positioning for the burnley free kick was much worse. Schwarzer has made 3 mistakes in 4 league games and 4 in all comps.

Unlike hamer who adds pressure.

Not saying Schwarzer is good because I think Hamer is a better keeper but to act like he is the worst keeper in the whole world when Ben Hamer has made mistakes himself is a bit stupid.

His kicking is an embarrassment plus he has made plenty of mistakes himself for both Spurs goals and against Man City. Spot on. Our squad players would be storming this league if it wasn't for that meddling Pearson fellow playing all his friends and associates.

I'm not saying he is the worst ever? I said he'd made a lot of mistakes which he has, I believe he's capable of better but in current form Hamer should be playing. Also I don't think it matters who the mistakes were against. If you let in a rubbish shot against man united and the same kinda shot against a weaker team then it's still the same mistake

shailen Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 A good keeper keeps the ball out of the net first and foremost. When I see him play, Kasper is the best at doing this for me, regardless of the stats this season. Distribution, commanding the area and so on, are all important attributes but are of secondary importance. Kasper is the only keeper we have who is capable of winning us a game with his goalkeeping. Wouldnt say the same about Hamer or Schwazer.
shailen Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 Best goalkeeping performance this season for me
Richard Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 You can infer nothing form these statistics. The sample is too small and there's far too many other factors to really say who's the better goalkeeper, though I do feel Hamer should feel a little hard done to to be dropped, he only really made 1 costly mistake (Spurs?)
Claridge Posted 23 February 2015 Posted 23 February 2015 In addition to that Villa shambles, he palmed saves to opposing forwards in both the Arsenal & Utd game resulting in key goals He was directly responsible for 3 decisive goals against us in 4 appearances, plus the slow to react Vs Everton which in itself may not be criticised but on the back of other such performances is worrisome to say the least No surprise Hamer has best record, would like to see him behind the (fractionally) more assured back 5 as opposed to the leaky back 4 How is it more assured? We average 2 a game with the stupid back 5.play 5 to hide Morgan's woeful defending
