The City chairman also had a stern warning for existing City players who did not fancy the rigours of life in Division One. He said: "If you're not prepared to roll up your sleeves and fight for the cause - then I don't want you here." Speaking exclusively to the Leicester Mercury in a wide-ranging two-part interview which begins today, Mandaric admitted relegation was something he did not expect and something for which the club had not budgeted. He said the past season had been "dreadful", and the honeymoon period he enjoyed when he first arrived at the club was now "probably over". "It's proving harder than I thought to turn the club around, to change that losing attitude," he said. "I'm trying to deal with that. I have to say, I'm not a happy man at the moment." He revealed that new manager Nigel Pearson was looking to bring in another three or four more players to the Walkers Stadium to join new signings Nicky Adams, Lloyd Dyer and Michael Morrison. Mandaric also spoke frankly about the managers he did hire - Martin Allen, Gary Megson and Ian Holloway - and the ones he did not, including John Gregory and Neil Warnock. "I asked Gary Megson before he left what he wanted," said Mandaric. "And he said, €˜Milan, I need four players.' He would have had them, too. "But then Bolton came in, and you know what happened next." Mandaric said Warnock was keen to come to Leicester - but he did not appoint him because he was alarmed by the reaction of the City fans. He also listened to the fans when rumours began circulating that Gregory had been interviewed for the vacant City manager's post.

It is pretty big news (gives us a ballpark figure of amount of signings), and people can speculate. Tunchev is clearly going to be one of these new players and I'd of thought that at least a couple will be strikers, with Hume gone and the possibility of Howard leaving.

Any half competent boss should have managed that with the players we had. Mny people didn't want him here because of comments he's made about our club, not because of his managerial abilities. And good luck to them. I didn't want him either. And still wouldn't. It's like whether Joey Barton should be welcomed back to the Newcastle fold. It's a non starter for me. The bloke is a disgrace and I wouldn't want him in any club of mine even if we were guaranteed the Premiership title. You've either got principles you stand by or you haven't got principles at all.

How can you compare a professional player who has been jailed for assaulting a team-mate to a fantastic manager at Championship level who said something about an opposing club? Warnock is an opinionated character and he said what many others were afraid too. I agree you stand by your principles as a club, but Warnock would have changed this club around last season. You would sooner have results and success than priniples. Leicester fans would have soon come around to the idea of warnock being manager as we climbed up the league.

He would have had better financial backing as well as an arguably more talented squad here than he did at Selhurst Park. We took four points off them last season. Every City fan knows he is a quality manager, like him or not. He would certainly have won over the critics as the results improved.

Well we were well above them in the league when he took over and i'd wager we spent a damn site more money than they did. Also nobody said "we would have", they said "maybe".
