I mean Its nice for the fans who get to travel to far flung places in Europe on a Thursday night but it's such a poisoned challice. Look at how its effected teams in the past with their league form having to play Thursdays and then Sundays....there's naff all money in it until the latter stages and it's more of a hinderance than a help. We had the Champions League which stuck is in danger of relegation at one point but that was worth it with it being an elite competition but the Europa League is a pile of pants in my opinion and its not a tournament we would ever have won anyway. Thats my opinion...disagree with me if you like.

League matches always mean more to me...its our bread and butter. Dont get me wrong ill be absolutely gutted if we lose today and miffed if we draw. Later rounds of the cup will get me off my seat and a semi final and final yes you could argue are more important if youre safe in the league. Disagree that this is our best shot at Europe as thats finishing 7th (where we stand at the minute). As far as team selection goes im not stressed about it as we will hopefully see Simpson / Huth / Fuchs (Prem winning defence), Iborra (better than James), Silva (European Championship winner) and Iheanacho (scored both our goals v Fleetwood and was MOTM). Hardly the worst players to bring in ate they.

I personally think that we can make 8 changes today and still play a very very strong team. Its bound to be 8 or more changes but if we keep the changes at 8 we could play this team and id shoot myself if we didnt win!! Jakupovic Simpson Maguire Huth Fuchs Gray Iborra Silva Albrighton Okazaki Iheanacho Maguire stays in to assist Huth in his comeback.....Albrighton as he seems to be able to play all the time and we dont have 4 wingers and Okazaki to keep the connection between midfield and attack plus Iheanacho works better alone i think.

Useless. Best players Benalouane and Jakupovic. Gray - was he playing? Slimani - was he playing? King - Does he know how to pass forward? Barnes - Not ready yet Chilwell / Amartey - Did ok James - Offers nothing. Overall superb performance.....NOT!!

Just opinions bud...we all want the same thing....Citeh to do well. Im not saying Amarteys perfect....nor any of our team but I like him and think hes got a good attitude and is a useful utility player. Id still like us to lool into getting a quick full back in the mould of Kyle Walker but it might be just as easy to end up witn yet another duffer so we shouldnt rush into it. Many of our players have had to endure long spells waiting for a chance....dreadful team performances that destroy moral and being used out of position. It takes a lot of mental strength to not just wait for your chance but take it when it comes along. It was pretty public how much Gray moaned and in my opinion he still is not in my best 11.

Morgan's tackle today that got him injured....Maguire being caught up field all the time and the way he was turned by Salah for their second....Fuchs hoofing it into Row Z and Mahrez losing the ball in the halfway line and costing us goals v Palace and United. All players make mistakes (some costlier than others) and youre highlighting a clearance for a corner against a rampant Liverpool who had us on the ropes because we had NO midfield protection or get out. Difficult to see you as just wanting him to fail. He was superb today...superb in the League Cup and fair play to the lad who is a centre back by trade and also thrown into central mid last season to replace the irreplaceable Kante. To me he is a key member of our squad.

I started this topic following the Soton 2-2 away draw of the Premier League winning season. Seems like we got away with it for a while but the problem has not gone away and take todays game for example....would a man at the far post have stopped their first goal. 100% disagree with everything youve said. Man City were not poor and even with reserve team players playing still had the quality of £250k a week Toure who just plays in this competition...Gundogan, Silva, Danilo and Jesus who would all walk into our first team. They all played the Pep way and didn't give us any time on the ball and very rarely ever gave it away cheaply from my recollection. That Man City team were 10 times better than Soton and Newcastle who we played recently....maybe even better than Spurs who lets face it were toothless. We huffed and we puffed and I think every player bar Nacho put in a solid 7 out of 10 performance. Even King got some tackles in that werent fouls (shock horror). Like I said they were very well drilled and didnt let us play our game but we kept going and going and everyone of our players can hold their heads up high tonight. Players like Dragovic and Amartey were great tonight considering they havent kicked a ball since the last round and even Benny looked good when he came on. Anyway rant over...thats my take on it.

Ok its obvious that Puel is trying to change the way we play and have us play through the midfield instead of hoofing the ball forward which considering the constant moaning on this forum over the last 18 months has to be a positive thing surely. I know its an old cliche but i think to be successful with this change it will take time....possibly a long time...possibly to long for us to give him a chance due to the impatience of fans and owners these days for immediate results. I agree that tonight when the game went against us second half it wasnt the time for pretty passing and a plan B was required.....a plan B that should have been our previous plan a with balls over the top for Mahrez Vardy and Gray to chase. We were not good enough or composed enough in the second half to play a passing game through midfield and theres no shame in us admitting that and trying a different tactic (Puel has to see this and not be so Stubborn in his philosophy and approach). I think once a proven passing player like Silva is in board and Puel brings some of his own players in this style of play will suit us more and more. Lile i said it takes time to bed in and in that time we will have second halfs luke tonight....we will also be battered by the big clubs trying to play the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Man City, Arsenal at a game that they play 100 times better than us is foolish. Sadly I dont see any of the good, the bad and the ugly changing during this transition process so we just need to accept it or reject it. I do think though that this way is only going to see us hovering around mid table for the forseeable future as loads of other teams around us play the same way and its only got them so far without the best players like the top 6 have.
