Premier League 24/25 Pre-season guff (misc talking points)

Why Premier League’s 'swap weekend' could be another PSR loophole (BBC Football) -
So this is the reason we haven’t got a kit sorted yet.
-
Is it done yet?

Have you never heard of Gary Megson?

I rarely have a clue when these things come up, which is why it’s a good job I’m not involved in the process at all. The Corblimey fellow sounds interesting. I think Potter, Pottychino and De Zerbi are unrealistic. There’s some merit in Moyes II Men, a shrewd operator, but that would be a bit of a deviation from the preferred playing style so seems unlikely. Carrick a bit of a dark horse candidate, could fit the bill, but had a tricky season last time out… there again, he knew how to get the better of us, so some useful insight there in how not to play. I can’t remember who I voted for, probably Corblimey. If I were a betting man, I’d chuck a cheeky fiver on Rob Edwards. It just feels like the kind of appointment we might make.

First thing that comes to mind: Maybe a little on-the-nose for a playing kit. Probably fine for training.

They’d probably go Scottish style and split the league up to avoid such scenarios… not for any competitive balance reasons, but because you could have So Called Big Six games to be played in major venues, and the Others can be played elsewhere… Chelsea Liverpool in New York; Arsenal Tottenham in Los Angeles; and Palace Everton in Gary, Indiana.

Think the idea of a 39th game is that nobody is being robbed of a home game, it’s entirely additive to the current 38 game schedule, so does not disrupt the home/away balance. — I do expect this will happen, and probably quite soon. It’s an idea almost as old as time at this point, and now someone has presumably bunged FIFA a suitable amount of cash, some of the final roadblocks are perhaps out the way now. To be honest, the only surprising aspect could be if it goes to the US before it goes to Saudi Arabia, in the current climate. Get ready for the mental gymnastics of the So Called Big Six trying to both justify how the very lucrative 39th game is both not a problem for them at all, but also a massive problem for them and their players who face “ridiculous” demands to play matches all over the world. Oh those poor unfortunate souls, forced to compete in four competitions… if only there was a way to reduce the burden! Can Arsenal do it on a cold rainy Tuesday night in Detroit? Let’s find out!

I had looked into a Swedish website about a sport playing dragon, but to ship was going to be £9 and the shirt was more than the official. Ended up going Official and will eat the massive delivery fee, and I’ll probably get stung with duty. The irritation is that while I was in the general vicinity of Leicester a few weeks ago, I toyed with the idea of popping over to the shop. The thought quickly left my mind because there was no indication of a sale… until a few hours later I got an email that they had started discounting kit, by which time it was too late. I wasn’t too bothered at the time, there was the prospect of another trip back to the UK a few weeks later… that didn’t materialize, either. So here I am… paying for shipping that’s almost as much as the shirt, which will have that somewhat unnecessary additional Straight Back Up patch on it, and I’ll likely pay an additional 20% when it gets here when customs wants their slice of the action. C’est La Vie.

Ran the lad absolutely ragged, considering his fitness record in the last five years. Honestly amazed that he managed to get through it. Also genuinely surprised how much I came to like him early on in the season. I was deeply skeptical, not because of the fitness concerns, but coming from quite probably my most despised football team. Same again next season, please.

What a load of crap.

Very much want Birmingham to get relegated for precisely that.

Always a favourite of mine, brilliant servant to the club, scorer of some brilliant and some vital goals. Legend.

West Brom (H) 2-1 Post-Match Thread

Hamza MOTM and then some. I just don’t see how you could vote for anyone else today. I genuinely don’t know how we’ve come away with three points there. Utter chaos. -
As damning as it gets… when you can’t even muster anger or disgust. and I’m more or less there at this point, too. Utter shambles.

Millwall (A) - Post match 1-0
lookwhaticando replied to BigWesMorgan's topic in Leicester City Forum
Well, that was a bit crap wasn’t it? I don’t expect us to beat Millwall just because it’s Millwall. I don’t necessarily expect us to beat them because of their recent form. I don’t expect to beat anyone in this league for the most part, that’s just not how it works in here… What I do expect, however, is that we’ll at least look like we’re trying to win. Tonight, we managed that only from about the 87th minute onwards. Which is a shame considering we’d already been losing for quite a while before that. -

It’s the Leicester way. -
He would’ve been a legend in my eyes if only for getting us out of League One at the first crack. How many ex-PL teams have slid into that abyss and taken years to resurface? To then take us towards promotion in the first season back in the Championship took us towards “this could be one of those significant partnerships” territory. To then return after a brief hiatus and pick up where he left off - but with one hell of another mess to clean up - getting us back up the table and ultimately promoted. Levelled up again right there. The 14/15 season… it took a while to really get going, but we made it. We survived, against the odds, having looked buried for a large chunk of the season. Levelled up, yet again. He took us from our lowest ebb, sorted out one hell of a mess, made us competitive. He then returned and repeated the same tricks - cleaned up a mess, made us competitive, got us to the promised land. I can only imagine that anyone doesn’t revere our Nige is a troll. I don’t see how you can be a fan and not massively appreciate what he did for us across his two spells. In an alternate reality, we might have stuck with Holloway after the relegation and we’d probably be in League Two by now.
