  1. They do not give a shit. Amazing.
  2. In some corner of Tamworth it is always 2016
  3. This term seems more Brexity in that it's even more "I want things to be different...smash smash... oh no" than his first term.
  4. MAGA does remind me a lot of brexit in that it appears to be motivated very much by returning to a period of great success but is totally oblivious to what created that success. And I imagine like brexit in 5 years nobody in the US will admit they supported it, or they'll claim it was betrayed in some way.
  5. Mortimer and Whitehouse are two genuine national treasures who must be protected
  6. No Pringles for me, just an Nduja and chicken wrap from St Pancras m and s, maybe washed down with a can of low alcohol G&T so I can fully enjoy the excellent football
  7. Nigella
  8. And it's a 1/4 a century today since we won the Worthington Cup. Where has the time gone...
  9. The idea got pooh-poohed on here at the time but I think it might have worked. The thought of a full stadium singing "Martin O'Neill's blue army" as we stayed up on the final day was just too tempting to miss out on in my opinion, but on the other hand it could've been a total failure.

  12. Long trudge back to tube stations unfortunately. Probably about 20-30 minutes if I remember correctly back to Stratford station, then about 20 minute tube to King's Cross. Might actually be quicker to go to Hackney Wick and then change onto Victoria to King's Cross at Highbury and Islington.
  13. I saw an article a few months ago (maybe the Athletic?) ranking all PL winners. Basically the most recent winners were top and great teams like Man United 99 and Arsenal 98 were near the bottom, because they looked at points, GF etc, and teams in the 90s were winning the league with 78 ish and going down with 40. The league is so stretched now, and quite uncompetitive. Most sports seem to be striving for some kind of parity but we'rte going in the opposite direction.

  15. Feel like there's a crossover here between the real ale heads and Pearsonites. Ranieri will always be king for us M&S sandwich, continental-lager happy clapper types.
  16. I'd be more disappointed if he wouldn't, considering the love Roma fans have for their team. Totti said something similar iirc about staying at Roma instead of going to e.g. Juve to win more trophies. We have this debate every couple of months. I think whether you prefer Nige or Claudio maybe comes down to personality. Pearson had that kind of no nonsense Yorkshireman type of persona which I don't really like, but every time I've seen him since he left he has come across as an intelligent and generous guy and for sure he's one of the most important managers in our history without whom the recent good times wouldn't have happened.
  17. I didn't go to many games during Pearson's time. O'Neill will always be the guy for me as Pearson is obviously for a lot of people on this thread. But I loved a lot of Pearson's reign because the football was fantastic and also because it coincided with a fantastic period of my life. Ranieri represents a lot of things I love beyond Leicester City. That's the great thing about football, it creates an emotional connection that goes beyond win columns or numbers of trophies, and is different for everyone.
  18. It's an elaborate Monkeys/Typewriters experiment run by the universities of Leicester and Maastricht, and overseen by Professor Ruud. Presumably in the next 1000 years it will click at least once.
  19. I really want a holiday. This is an enjoyable thread but it is a bit torturing when you're stuck at work
  20. Saw this on the 'Recent Topics' sidebar and thought it was someone we'd been linked with.
  21. I think we've done this discussion to death but I seriously doubt we'd be below Wolves with Maresca in charge. The continuity alone would be worth a few more points.
  22. True, but again that's down to culture and upbringing. I think we overstate economic concerns a little so people start thinking that for example poorer voters have been 'tricked' into voting for Trump, Farage et al when actually they quite like what they're selling.
  23. I wasn't in the country for either unfortunately. As I said in a previous post I just really wanted us to survive in the Premier League for a couple of seasons after being away and being bottom of the league for so long was so disappointing, so to turn it around like that was just insane. I still remember every game so clearly, particularly the WBA match. The following season was great fun at the start, but then started to take on an element of the surreal and became bigger than the club really. I was delighted we'd finally one something more than the league cup, which had always bugged me, but at the end I was perhaps happy it was all over. It was also relatively comfortable, whereas the great escape as you say was incredibly exciting. Nothing like going on a run like that. Like the playoff run in 96.
  24. Could be wrong but I think the lowest ten percent by income was split pretty evenly between Harris and Trump. In general I think people are influenced when voting as much by culture and background as economic status. Although of course those things are linked.
