When working in Bulgaria my plane back to Sofia was cancelled due to heavy snow and rescheduled for four days later. I missed a friend's birthday party so arranged to meet him when I got back and buy him a beer, then met my partner at the bar that night. Still with her 13 years later.

Is it just me or are a lot of young Brits picking up American accents, or at least a more American way of pronouncing certain sounds, especially vowel sounds like /əʊ/ Edit - I think I posted this in the wrong thread although this one is at least related to changes over time

Farage being in UK politics is not good in any way, even if it takes voters away from the conservatives.

As much as I would love to see the Tories lose even harder, the fact that Reform are seen as a 'danger' electorally is just such a depressing indictment of politics in England and the right wing especially.

Anglophilia is still much more widespread in Europe than we think. You still see lots of English music or football themed bars and our media and literature is still widely consumed. They generally think we're idiots for Brexit but we have a cool factor that no other country does.
