  1. Theyve taken their momentum into the season and added to their squad. Weve been very shaky but we are massively unsettled, with a depleted squad and the manager hasn't really had a proper preseason. I think this one should just be marked down as just dont lose. Id take a draw right now, in to the international break and then go at it with whatever final squad we have after the break, and be fully up and running by October. Whether its a win or a draw, id love it if we were to score late on for either result to knock some stuffing out of them.
  2. Likewise.. I reckon he'll either go back Middlesbrough or Wrexham will take him.. fits their mould of ex premier league 'legend' as they'll label him. Either that or off to the states for a few years
  3. Genuinely, whatever his value is on psr.. get that matched .. even a minor loss of we can afford it and get him gone. Stole a living. A bit hypercritical because id actually start him tonight with what options we have, unless Mav is an option.. but the sooner data's gone the better. Frees a space for someone new, or with we miss the window then at least to give minutes out elsewhere
  4. I dont expect that he'll actually be out. Just be like what we used to do with Vardy
  5. Be useful him being out. Knock a bit of confidence out of them.. probably pass a last minute fitness test
  6. Dunno, hes always looked pretty quick off the ball to me. Problem for me is he doesn't utilise it when he has the ball, and when hes making a run hes too slow to make his decision of when and where to go.. so by that point the 5 yards he'd have gained hes already lost.
  7. Marti said he is just now
  8. Now they've said Bilals available.. him over Ayew.. id still go with Daka.. pure pace up top although we all know Jordan will be in the 9. Can see Bilal having a stormer.. last chance to push someone to buy him. 2-2 can see Bilal getting one and assuming Stephy makes the squad then him to get the other.
  9. Ah fair enough. He was though which is why I could see the northern Italy pull. They spend a lot of time around that area and like I say she skis alot around there so it kind of makes sense. And let's be honest.. if you could pick up a pay cheque 'working' there for a couple years, it be hard to say no
  10. I think hes garbage personally, but him and Winks is better than him and skipp or skipp and Winks. He offers very little but he does have a physical presence.. whether he puts it to use or not (often not) is another thing. But its better to use it with what we have
  11. Jakub Ricardo (best position) Okoli Vestergaard Thomas Winks Soumare (purely as we'll need a physical presence) Fatawu Ayew Mavididi (if fit) Daka Rather have Ayew in the 10. They've started the season reasonably well and whilst we're unsettled as a squad I think games like this need experience, even of the quality isnt quite there. We're the home team but they'll make it somewhat hostile on the pitch and in the stands. Ayew has the ability to win plenty of free kicks at least
  12. That was Abdul that got sent off werent it? Don't think Mavididis ever made a tackle has he? Youre bang on about him peeing these off though.. climbed over the barrier to celebrate at St Andrews didnt he?
  13. Tbf for 35 seconds every game when he goes on his Yaya You're run he is the best midfielder in the country.. then he remembers who he is and goes back to Boubaball
  14. Surprised it werent Como as id anticipated that with the Wise link, but not surprised at all to see it likely be another northern Italian club. His missus is often in that region every few weeks over the winter, hes not far from his pal Dennis.. and like others have said, its a pretty picturesque place to spend your twilight years at.
  15. Yea agreed. I mean he may not be as keen to put in the marauding runs for some of his closing down challenges, I think that's more to grab the attention of a suitor, but he'd do enough to help us out. If he dont want to be here though, I would rather he be gone as we wont need the negativity around the club from someone feeling a little solemn about things, but I dont see him as a trouble maker.
  16. If he wants to go and there is a reasonable offer on the table around 25m allowing us a small profit just let him go urgently. Gives us time to get someone else in and doesn't risk us being left panic buying garbage, getting noone at all or being left with a player stuck here that doesn't have any interest in either playing or putting up a fight. I've no doubt he wants out, but ill take it with a pinch of salt hes talking about sitting in the stands.. obviously I dont know anymore than anyone else, I just dont see him as that type of player myself
  17. Another one I can see ending up somewhere like West Ham. 25m + addons/sell on percentage
  18. He's in a fortunate position really. He knows realistically he'd be happy with a signing on fee of around a million and a 50-60k a week salary as it'll gazump anything hes earnt in the past. But he doesn't need to rush it, he knows some clubs will be desperate with the window almost shutting that he can wait, football isnt his priority right now. I can see him going West Ham for about 75k a week, 4 year contract and a couple million signing on. Jackpot for him if he does.
  19. If we werent in such a financial mess id disagree. A player that scored as many as him in a position we need filling signing on for say a million plus a 3 year contract at 50k a week would be great business. All in its a 8.5 million investment on a player that woulf usually be around the 15m mark and would likely be a sellable 10m asset next summer if we need to sell. However, I agree, we need to keep players on lower wages and this year utilise the loan/loan with obligation market to break the cycle. Regardless, he wants a lot more than 50k apparently. Plus like others have said, no pre season either so would take a while to be up and running
  20. I think JJ will be one of those what could of been players. He was absolutely phenomenal a few seasons back for half a season and then got injured. Another season and a half like that and he'd have moved on to a bigger team for 40-50m. But literally fell off that cliff and couldn't stay fit. Must be playing with a fear of getting further injuries, alongside losing his feel for the game and pace. Doesn't help either that we were an all out attacking team which benefitted his attacking ability to run with the ball, to then return from injury to a team that passes it back all the time. He's a player whose become too negative and needs moving just so we can begin a new era But he will go with my best wishes, always felt (although it wasn't always enough) that he gave absolutely everything and genuinely comes across as an alround decent person too. New start for him, money in our pocket .. win win Good luck JJ
  21. Absolutely agree! Twice yesterday we had free kicks about 40 yards from their goal and a chance to either lump it into the area or start an attack.. commentator even said 'Leicester win a free kick in the opposition half, a chance to put the ball in the area' and on both occasions, even though Vesty and Okoli went up they just played it backwards, eventually to the keeper. The commentator then congratulated the press of Charlton for it. Yes, they pressed well all game, but it had nothing to do with those free kicks.. just shows how negative minded we are in possession. I dont believe that to be a Marti thing though, its the culture in the club from the last few managers. We do lack creativity and ball carriers and need some new ones in for their ability, but I also just generally think we need new players in for their more positive mindset too
  22. Just dont lose. Early in the season dont need to be giving them a boost of confidence, but we're that unsettled i dont fancy a win. Id start with Daka purely for his pace. Ayews had 3 games and done nothing. Id be tempted to play Ayew in the ten, purely for his physicality and holding the ball up and winning free kicks in their half (even though we then tend to pass it back to the keeper). All for giving the young players minutes but I think whilst we are unsure of what we have available and are unsettled we should utilise the experience for games like this. Winks in for Skipp, Riccy for Hamza and Faes in for either one of the back 2. Vesty is a better player but we will need a little pace against these so leaning towards Caleb if still here. And get bloody Evans involved off the bench! Jakub Riccy (c) Faes Okoli Thomas Winks Soumare Fatawu Ayew Monga Daka
  23. Too early in the season to have a proper idea how things will go. I mean Ipswich haven't won a game yet, sheff united have lost all 3, Southampton on 4 points and Preston have beaten two relegated sides whilst being a relegation contender. Only thing I do think is a probability from the opening three rounds is that its likely to be a much tighter league than the past few seasons where the top 3 or 4 are miles clear. I had initially thought Ipswich would run off with the title with Birmingham in tow with Sheffield United and Southampton, with us a but behind due to a deduction.. but I genuinely see about 10 teams now that are much of a muchness, I just hope we make a few decent acquisitions so that we can be one of them. I've enjoyed Wrexhams run up the table, but with them really flexing their muscle this year spending wads on absolute fodder im glad to see them throwing points away
  24. Im going sleep early next Friday because that will be worse.. however, its 3 points
