  1. Even after just one game in charge, you can sense the shift in energy and aggressiveness. We were much quicker and more willing to attack the opposing box. There's plenty of positives to take from today's game. I also think the players are finally smelling the coffee. If Rowett can sort out our atrocious defense (somehow; 1,6 goals against per league game is terrible), we should be fine.
  2. Mukasa head and shoulders above Daka (remember, £23m transfer fee and about £3.4m in wages per year) and Ayew (£5m transfer, £2.3m in wages per year; the latter isn't a striker, in all fairness). Also puts Mavididi (£6.8m transfer fee, reported £500'000 a year on wages) and Monga to shame. 2 goals and 2 assists in two games. At least we stuck in, Winks with a great goal that somewhat makes up for his lacklustre attitude beforehand. We need a fit Jordan James back so badly. And a back four that deserves that name. And that bad record continues: 30 LEAGUE GAMES WITHOUT A CLEAN SHEET
  3. Unlucky towards the end. Three points would've been better, but I'll take a draw for now. Players have shown improvement after going 1-0 down. 1 down, 13 to go.
  4. Pure shithousery now. Who was supposed to be taking care of Wilmot there?
  5. WInks' redemption ark complete? 2-1 Lestoh
  6. Way to lose the ball there. Jeebus.
  7. Pathetic reaction after that equalizer. Winks at the heart of this Stoke counter. Blimey. Have to do better.
  8. There we go! Mukasa!! 1-1
  9. We were so quick to appoint a successor to Mighty Marti.
  10. Arsenal keeper flopping in best Stolarczyk fashion. Well done to Wolves. I still want them to finish on less points than Derby.
  11. Obviously that was meant tongue-in-cheek. Mukasa has had as much impact in his first game than Ayew had in his first eleven this season (1 goal, 1 assist). Let that sink in.
  12. Jordan Ayew isn't the issue per se, it's his shitty attitude this season, the constant falling over that gets most fans, of course. Here's to more effort on the pitch, and less licking grass. The majority of this squad has a LOT to make up for. The only ones that come out with any sort of dignity so far to me are James, Fatawu (just) and Vestergaard (for his goals, mind – which is bizarre in itself). The rest – sheesh, talk about underperforming.
  13. Scenes if he starts Jordan Ayew as our lone striker on Saturday.
  14. Which ones?
  15. All this doom and gloom. Remember: Oxford could still overtake us.
  16. What a career he's had – and a long life. The Godfather, THX 1138, Falling Down, Apocalypse Now.
  17. Peak UK television for me. Great trilogy,. The cast, the art department, all works so well.
  18. Godspeed, Gary.
  19. This team doesn't have it in them, there's no fight, there's no willingness, there's usually just excuses on the pitch. Second-worst defensive record, there's no defending that obvious issue. And no manager has ever addressed that since Maresca left. Player recruitment in recent years has been mostly atrocious. Shades of money laundering, if you ask me. Add the shitshow that is our managerial merry-go-round. We're unstable, debt-ridden, have seen the first points deduction ever, have no leader on or off the pitch (we only have one able player, and he is injured). Apart maybe from the start, we've sabotaged our own season for most part. This club has become a farce, layered with ineptitude on pretty much all levels, and is being run into the ground by unprofessional, careless clowns. In short – no, I can't see us win six games out of the last 14. Because that'd mean us winning almost every second match. At best, given this season's record, we're looking at three to four wins. That won't be enough.
  20. I stated this in another thread, he's essentially being asked to do two jobs at once – because Mavididi has been so ineffective/selfish in front of him. League stats Mavididi: 2 goals, 1 assist – these are Daka-style stats, terrible when you know he can do much, much better. He should be in Fatawu territory. Thomas: 4 assists
  21. Ahem, I meant our FA Cup title win – alongside Thomas and Choudhury. I concur, staying in the Championship is essential in terms of pulling power. That's why I'd like to see us build a team around a particular spine of players.
  22. We managed in 2008/2009. And the rest is history. Obviously, we ought to hold onto the most talented players (without getting held ransom by outrageous demands) no matter what league we're in. The first to go are the ones out of contract and some of the most lazy, ineffective and frustrating players. Daka, Ayew, Faes, WInks, Okoli, Ricardo (shame to see him leave as the last member of the title-winning team, but he's had a mare of a season so far). Mavididi has been a letdown this season. Skipp is costing us dearly in terms of contracts, too. But maybe we can build a team around him, Fatawu (provided we can keep him) and James (please buy the lad, he's the natural-born leader). That'd be our spine in midfield. Keep Lascelles fit. Our scouting network has seen better days. We need to recover there. too, and finally have more luck finding real gems, such as Vardy, Mahrez, Kanté and bargains such as Morgan, Albrighton or Huth. All of that, of course, under the guidance of a competent manager. So many parallel construction sites, though.
  23. Speaking of new albums by Canadian bands, the New Pornographers are still active and kicking: "The Former Site of" is out in late March.
