  1. We were incredibly lucky. Appointing Ranieri (who applied, we didn’t seek him out) and winning the league after sacking our successful manger because his son and his mates got rimmed on film wasn’t genius planning. Appointing Shakespeare permanently wasn’t a particularly well run-club move. Puel was just available, not the result of a through managerial search (shallow managerial recruitment is a KP staple). The reason our net spend was less than half was because of the general inflation in football. Our spend across summers 14 and 15 would be at least double now. Ulloa as a good championship striker would be £25m, Kante would be double or treble the price. Okazaki the same.
  2. 16 assists however
  3. Bradley’s supermarket (The Nisa) in Quorn stock a load of local breweries’ beer. Charnwood, Round Corner, Langton, Mill Hill, & Tollgate.
  4. He’d already had a good spell in the Bundesliga before producing in the Championship. BEK had a promising but not off the charts start in Belgium I agree but worse players have produced more in crap sides. We can all see how good BEK is but it’s mostly potential at the moment. If you’re a club with £40m burning a hole in your pocket do you put that towards Cunha with his 11 goals and 4 assists this season or, BEK with 2 and 1 respectively? Maddison went for £40m (relegation caveat - will be same this summer) with a much higher profile and 5 good seasons in the PL, plus the English premium.
  5. He’s not productive enough yet for anybody to justify dropping £40m on him. He will do eventually but not yet - 2 goals and an assist in 14 league starts doesn’t warrant that sort of fee.
  6. There’s nothing of value gained by most interviews, least of all a half time one. Unnecessary.

    First good score in a while #WhenTaken #347 (08.02.2025) I scored 931/1000👑 1️⃣📍13.6 km - 🗓️9 yrs - 🥇186/200 2️⃣📍312 km - 🗓️5 yrs - 🥇185/200 3️⃣📍819 km - 🗓️1 yrs - 🥈174/200 4️⃣📍202 km - 🗓️1 yrs - 🥇191/200 5️⃣📍1.4 km - 🗓️5 yrs - 🥇195/200
  8. Ha, me too. Saw him at Firebug in 2021 or 22 and he’s much more polished now. Fin vs the internet is brilliant - the most recent new atheist one is sooo good.
  9. He helps us going forwards too, he’s always had a knack of influencing of the play further ahead but he’s improved massively in possession too. 10 off 300 apps for us.
  10. Two crap sides but we looked a bit livelier on the break. Good bit of play from Bilal and BDR had an instinctive close range header
  11. Adds to our game in an attacking sense because he’s pretty positive generally. We’ve always missed him when he’s been out
  12. They’re so bad. How can a squad be so expensive and so bad
  13. Worst game since last week where he was abysmal and majorly at fault inside a minute
  14. I feel like we never utilised him properly. 114 starts (121 nineties), 61 goals, 33 assists is a fantastic record. The most starts in a PL season was 16, it felt like if he had 3 bad games he was dropped - everybody else has had the luxury of 5+.
  15. Iheanacho is one of the best big game players we’ve had. Dragged us to the cup final, scored in every round bar the final, so composed for his community shield pen, scored that equaliser you mentioned.
  16. Ulloa scored some important goals early on and helped keep the ball up the pitch. Ayew is the closest thing we have now Vardy, Nugent, Schlupp and Mahrez all chipped in too.
  17. I’ve been a Fin Taylor fan for a while now, so know of him. Prefer him to Vittorio who is a bit hackneyed imo.
  18. It's that time again. Doing 7 acts for £7 again for the third yea run a row, it's such good value. Also seeing Horatio Gould next week upstairs at the Black Horse in Aylestone. https://comedy-festival.co.uk

  20. This could have been turned into a big opportunity the game needed, instead they've fumbled it in the worst way - predictably too.
  21. I quite liked Welch. One that maybe should have been given the benefit of the doubt. Although I suppose we can't afford to carry injury prone players.
  22. It's probably for the best we didn't; have the extra CL revenue, we'd probably spend it on even more expensive dross we couldn't shift.
  23. What happier after MO’N and what happened after Pearson is where the distinction between the two happens. Pearson was so effective he managed upwards and laterally so well. He built the foundations for a title winning and cup winning side for about £25m. His faith in Walsh, Shakespeare, Balsom, Rennie, McKenzie meant every pound he spent was worth 10x as much. He had his flaws but nobody changed the club for the better as much as he did. Giant of a man.
  24. You can make the case for loads of different games and seasons but I think it boils down to Pearson. He’s the single most important figure in our post foundation history imo (possibly one for the unpopular opinion thread?). Everything changed when he walked through the door in 2008. Thank the heavens he came back.
