With young players you have to give them a chance before deciding they’re simply not quite up to speed yet. Plenty of players aren’t that highly rated, end up with a chance and surpass all expectations. Luke Thomas looked at his best when he first had an opportunity, I don’t recall any hype around him but he slotted in quickly and looked the part (initially). I remember reading Rashford wasn’t tipped as a first team player but seized a chance due to injury. The Leicester pathway is to go on loan and almost unanimously impress for 2 or 3 seasons before you get a chance - it doesn’t always have to be that way.
