  1. You do realise those two statements are linked? Ie their existing training ground is next to their stadium and in order to majorly alter their existing stadium, they need the land of that training ground?
  2. Free Monga at the top
  3. It's cemented my opinion there's a good number of people who don't watch for the football but rather for the narrative like it's a TV series. A huge symptom of COVID football.
  4. How much crossover in reality is occurring with the T20 competitions? To my eyes, it appears the Kiwis and South Africans internationals do a lot of them while there's crossover with IPL & Aus/England players. Big Bash aligns with Aussie's home test series. Surely there's an argument to have an agreed, aligned calendar with the potential of load management on players as well.
  5. Was my point on West Indies - incredibly reliant on the broadcast deals when India, Australia & England tour
  6. Btw this thread is weird, people's post keep deleting or require approval.
  7. I follow a couple of them on twitter/x, lads the same age as me in mid 30s and they seem pretty relaxed about this season. Despite it being a backwards motion from last season. This was put elsewhere on the forum - https://www.northstandchat.com/threads/have-we-spunked-our-money-on-average-players-or.411226/
  8. EDIT: CHF has covered it well in his previous reply.
  9. I accept that. But Brighton’s success is never going to be define by trophies because realistically it’s extremely hard to do. We managed the trophies which was amazing. However we are burying our head in the sand saying ‘ooo yeah Brighton et al need to sustain it’. They are sustaining it in relation to their respective size. Eight years of top flight football is unparalleled to them. That argument isn’t acknowledging who Brighton, Bournemouth are and where they are from. These clubs aren’t expected to have five years plus in the top flight. The fairer argument for Leicester fans to make is comparing Leeds, Villa, Newcastle, West Ham. Clubs with heavy revenue streams compared to most but can’t sustain success beyond the odd good season If anything the argument about Brighton is right at the root of the issue in how a lot of Leicester fans view their club, punch up, not down.
  10. What’s people’s thoughts to the Test Championship being two tier? I initially disliked the idea (particularly when I read Vaughan’s support) and it would make the likes of the Ashes so regularly, it loses some impact. However, I read that Ireland want it and it gives realistic structure to their calendar. Then there’s teams like West Indies what still need the tests v the top sides for broadcasting revenue. Now I’m unsure about it. However the one take is trying to get Test Matches into a competition format is a thankless task. If you want a Test Championship, you could do a competition over 6 weeks quite easily.
  11. Worth mentioning re Brighton they are all but safe this season which gives them their 8th top flight season in a row. That’s a club with a long history of third and fourth tier football. The longest row in our history was 12 (1950s into 60s)?and the one in recent memory was 9 seasons. They are about to equal in that within the same ‘modern’ football environment. They have sustained their ‘success’. They are already there in comparison to their history. Thankfully we took a bit silver along the way but I think it’s naive to say we have to wait and see with Brighton, they are in situ within the top flight.

  13. You joke but she’s currently in Japan scouting players for us
  14. The guy with a name after a hotel chain
  15. What about when your existing owner is towards Tan on the scale?
  16. Define achieve. Bill Foley at Bournemouth is unlikely to achieve anything in terms of trophies but can he increase the value of the club to make a very tidy profit? As it stands the answer would be yes
  17. Particularly given we need FFP dollar pronto supposedly
  18. There’s a link being made which I don’t quite get and it suggests to me the club aren’t that confident about their actual accounts rather they are confident of De Marco getting the job done again. A lot of these articles say LCFC don’t have much room to do transfers this January due to FFP yet the supposed charge is nothing to do with this January window. Rather the success of this window dictates if FFP will be a problem in the three year window including this season going forward because of allowable losses etc. The only link I can see is how you might persuade players to join a club likely to receive a points deduction (even in the interim). But ultimately at this time right now the FFP decision next week should not have any bearing on how we operate in January. Unless of course, they rightly ****ed the budget for this year (or they have confidence in the T3 loophole). So something amiss or not quite in sync
  19. To provide an argument to the Top is a good man. Personally I am not a fan of how he’s consistently surrounded this club with Thai influencers and hanger-on’s. Going as far as hosting Thai politicians at games. That suggests to me that the club is less about city, club or anything else and more about having something which maintains status. And so that reason I’m veering out
  20. Inter want him. And I think they would have bid if it was a rival European club but they can afford to play the long game if he stays in South America. Let him develop there and then pick up at worst for £20m rather than £7m now and have him out on loan for a couple of years.
  21. As per the word in Norfolk
  22. Emmanuel's a winner and he's driven," said Wolves sporting director Matt Hobbs. ... "When Vitor came in it's the first conversation we had, to add one quick. There are so many games in January, so you can't afford to waste a month."
  23. I see a chunk of this country and the rest of the world has no understanding of how our Parliament bills work
  24. There’s a chap at LCFC who controls the status quo regards PR. 99% of the words quoted by Top are his. When his background is from MK Dons, I need go no further in trying to explain how there’s little understanding of what football fans want.
