Safe standing. I’d happily wager you put one of those in, you start to get people electing to stand there. These are people who aren’t inclined to begin chanting but join in. Then the momentum starts rolling Then a whole re-structure of the ‘stands’ in terms of price, demographic etc. There’s a place for everyone in the ground but club have got to help do that. It would become easier for them to steward and police. They can focus on these areas in terms of marketing - not just that but bespoke food and drink kiosks etc etc They won’t though. As along as it’s sold out crowds every week, there’s no need for them to do it. They will take the cash over actual fan engagement. The stadium lives in its 2010 shape. No one has updated it in terms of organisation. Our marketing departments are so far behind the times because the status quo means they barely have to work for it.

No You just need to be on board and present rather than going out of habit

Didn’t play that well v Cov and Saints were in poor form going into that. Either way that’s August and September, a long way from now -

Trying to calm down after the event but my hot take still is that we haven’t won an important game again. Park the tactics at the door and everything else. Sometimes it’s about sheer will and desire but when it comes to the end, this squad is coming up short in those situations. Getting a bit tired of ‘we will be okay’. Particularly given last season. Actions of a club off the pitch still leaving in a PL daydream. We have a huge advantage of 21 teams in this division. We should be ambitious enough to say let’s win. -
Was up for it. Possessed at times. Failure to keep him in the game second half, one of the reasons we lose momentum. Particularly given he had Clarke on toast who had been booked

He was as bad at Cov. -
Understand a bad back injury. Did it when bending over to give Rudkin his gym towel after his 5k on the treadmill.

And painfully why in the second half didn’t we utilise Mavdidi! Clarke on a yellowF he was clearly up for it. Ignored him from 70 mins onwards -

Conflicted. 2nd time Ipswich have had some major fortune to get a late draw. Goalie turned into Orjland from the Villa semi. However my Rodgers PTSD is playing up. Late goals, late subs, weak at set pieces, soft. Get deeper and deeper. Allow a shot on edge of the box. Goal -

He’s incredibly average. -
Nothing more than a hunch but those players are more likely to be identified due to agents etc rather than actual hard scouting, other than cursory looks at Under 20 tournaments etc. São Paulo needed some dosh quick and have guess what.....Beraldo's agency is headed up by someone with Italian links. That's gut rather than anything I actually know mine.

A lot of this summer was Enzo's contact book and pulling on some agents he knows well.

Rudkin didn't buy South America as part of his scouting budget on FM. So he doesn't know any player from that region
-
Hmmm I am slightly uneasy with that. He's shown reluctance to alter from a system when it isn't work, he's had a dig about transfers and his team so far are coming up short in big, tension games looking a bit soft. His personality is completely different but he's showing a similar stubborn streak.

Crowd should be picking up the slack. In this league, if your team can fight, win the second ball a lot and take advantage on the transition you'll be fine. I worry we might have had that slightly coached out of us due to the system we've adopted. At times needs must - 10 wins gets us there. The build-up to this game as just confirmed why my interest has been off with us this season. I am still pissed off about last season and how its aftermath still exists. We have all these advantages in our favour this season. A failure to use that is a sign of how bad the leadership within the club is. With a parachute payment underwriting some of this seasons loss, here we are in January still scratching around transfer wise because we have a wage bill that is unsustainable without a major financial transfer (or two) every financial year and the addition of PL TV revenues. If we cock this up, it's major shit creek financially. All those groans about Rudkin be elementary. All chatter about not letting players cos of FFP considerations not worth the time. Because we need them off the wage bill to keep the club functioning, let alone FFP - particularly as any outgoings market value will be reduced. Yeah you can tell I was up at 7am this morning on the phone and e-mails because one of the roofs on a project I managed two years ago came off

Doesn’t matter. They rank all the qualifiers 1 to 16 on basis of the group records. it’s rubbish because 1) it isn’t a surprise they are matched up given they have a direct effect on each other 2) Tigers group was considerably the strongest pool in quality The same thing has happened with Bordeaux v Saracens, Stormers v La Rochelle, Bulls v Lyon, Northampton v Munster. Absolute nonsense format

The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
CosbehFox replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
Cambridge Half in six weeks. A rematch after being disappointed last year with a run there. Had a good month here - endurance is increasing, confidence is up too and be interested to see what can happen if I truly push myself. Managed 23k/14.2 miles in 2hrs 6. And didn’t feel too bad all yesterday. Strength training has defo pushed me on. Still off the gels etc but started looking into protein to help me. I’m trying to target a 1:51 Half. Cambridge is lovely and flat. But need to make sure something is in the tank from 15k. If I have some power in my legs, it should be really enjoyable because the crowds are massive around the city at the end -
Their fourth complaint to the PGMOL in one and half seasons. Defo comes from the top as well

Pretty crap that it’s going to be Leinster away for the next round
