  1. He was the only one who wanted the job that the board had heard of and had managed in the Premier League before. When research and planning is as poor as it is at this club, you’re giving yourself a very small and uninspiring pool to choose from. I’m not saying ‘Cooper out’, we are down anyway with this squad and a points deduction so regardless of his lack of quality it’s not fair to start pointing the finger at him and being publicly cruel. However, if someone never wanted to appoint him in the first place isn’t it just consistent to say they still don’t want him in charge for the Spurs game?
  2. Things that remind you of LCFC related things but aren’t. This ran at Leicester races today:
  3. Gary and the boys totally delusional. They may have been told to be positive but they sound absolutely ridiculous. If England lose they will have to change their tune.
  4. Difference being Greece got the most out of what they had. They had average technical players and, crucially, no pace, so they couldn’t really play effective open football. England and France should be battering some teams 3 or 4 nil, but they have chosen to be negative. That’s what makes them so hateful for neutrals. It would be a travesty in one of them won.
  5. Whether you think the decisions are technically correct or not it just isn’t right to see matches decided by marginal things so open to interpretation. And by the way, the thickness of the offside line is a variable. If the word ‘deliberate’, is written in the rules (and I’m led to believe it still is), then there is no way to interpret that. It’s a word with a definition, it’s either deliberate or it isn’t.
  6. English ref having another shocking game here. Any time a German goes down he’s giving them a free kick.
  7. With that line-up Spalletti has no one but himself to blame if they lose.
  8. Greece at least beat the best ever Portugal side (twice), one of the best ever French sides and one of the best ever Czech sides, also drew with Spain. England wouldn’t have made it out of their group in 2004.
  9. Now that is revisionism, we were really defensive for most of that match.
  10. Nothing against Scotland myself, but they’re a terrible side who deserve to be out. Hungary would be very lucky if they make it through themselves. Scotland might feel a bit robbed with the penalty decision but I’m not having that a keeper can knock a player out and it not be a foul. Anywhere else it’s dangerous play and a red card (never hear anyone defending broken leg challenges as a sending off even if it’s a total freak incident).
  11. Professional opinion is exactly why clubs end up with crap badges. It’s not supposed to be a soulless company with a ‘clean’ logo, it’s supposed to be inspiring, beautiful, artistic. That hospitality logo is none of those things.
  12. How long is this taking? I assume we have started interviewing everyone on the shortlist. If not, then what are we playing at.
  13. Severely underrated player for us, one of the few who understood how to get the best out of Vardy with early, pinpoint passes.
  14. I don’t agree, football should always be entertaining because that’s it’s function and attacking football is pragmatic. Scoring goals is the aim and that is attractive. If it’s about survival, where do you draw the line? A lot of people would have said (and did say) that results were all that mattered last season. Most seasons are going to be about surviving relegation or needing to win promotion for a club like us. Need I remind people that we were fancied for relegation when Ranieri took over. Ever since that season no manager should ever have been able to tell a club they should be grateful just to survive. Attacking football gives you a better chance of scoring and you can’t get 3 points with clean sheets and possession alone.
  15. Chilwell was an average defender and couldn’t even pass forwards, we knew we were rinsing them.
  16. Not sure why people would have egg in their faces. Villa finished 4th this season so he’s not got to beat a lot. If he does well at Chelsea it doesn’t change the fact that he’d struggle to implement his style of football with inferior players relative to the division. I’m not confident he’d have kept us up, but having better players does tend to make you look a better manager. Still, he did the job here and I’ve nothing against him.
  17. I don’t like Leeds but I can’t just can’t feel happy for Southampton and it’s because of their insufferable manager. I imagine they will grow to hate him as well. They had like 1 shot and he thinks he’s a genius.
  18. It would be someone totally underwhelming I know that much. Most likely a possession obsessed man. If it’s a choice between that, Moyes, or, I dunno, Bielsa, I’d choose the latter. We’re likely to be relegated with this squad and a points deduction. We’ve been relegated before and we’ll be relegated again one day. But can’t we have a bit of fun for once? Years of negative football and no pride makes Homer something something. Don’t care about results anymore. It’s a dull existence.
  19. 1992-2002 is the best one. Everything from the font to the spacing is just right, looks almost regal. The changes since then were totally unnecessary, though the current one is better than 2002-09 where the writing is way too big. I wish they would keep the colour scheme on away kits, one of my (many) gripes with football these days. The colours matter.
  20. Today’s games have been shocking but I’ve watched play-offs for many years and they are usually by far the most exciting thing in football. There have been many, many classic 2-legged semi finals so asking for a change in system just because of today is rash. This has more to do with modern football’s obsession with coaches like Russell Martin (also Rodgers, Enzo, etc) and their rigid styles of play that take all the joy out the game. I’m personally a fan of away goals (it would encourage Leeds and Southampton to have been more adventurous today) but there have been loads of great semi-finals without it.
  21. Retiring numbers is shite. There was a time when we thought no one would live up to Gordon Banks. Or Arthur Chandler (who’s still our record goal scorer btw). Any striker who wears number 9 should be reminded ‘that’s Jamie Vardy’s number’. I keep saying how important it is to inspire players instead of telling them they can’t ever be that good.
  22. Offside possible but too close to give, not a foul. Adams tries to lean into Faes and falls over as a result.
  23. Much better until we scored but still ponderous in the final third. Now we’ve scored we’re playing like a lower league team in the third round again. These are there for the taking if we just had a bit more belief.
  24. I disagree, if you can’t see that there’s an issue with fans being able to celebrate a 121st minute winner only for it to be disallowed 2 minutes later, I don’t know what to say. That has always been the issue. Decisions will be correct sometimes and incorrect other times regardless of whether VAR is used. The offside law is also really poor. Why not the whole body instead of any part of it?
  25. Even when this thread was started it was hilarious. A large chunk of our Premier League title winning team, a superior style that got the best out of Vardy in his 20s, and a Pearson mentality. Against this lot? Don’t get me wrong, individually we’re ok, but as a functioning team we don’t compete in the slightest with 2014. That was arguably the greatest 2nd tier side of all time. I think people just don’t realise how much weaker this league is now. 10-15 years ago English football had so much more strength in depth.
