  1. PSR strikes me as like being offered a credit card by a bank with a fixed £250 limit but go beyond that putrid amount spend and you're no longer credit worthy You also can't then apply for another bank's credit card if you breach the limit!
  2. I'm not sure how many would genuinely support Ruud here next season in any capacity if in the unlikely even he did stay on for the Championship next season (it might still happen but doubtful) - given the hand he was dealt this (Cooper's dire signings) and bereft of confidence/quality at the time, then not being backed in January, etc, etc to level with his disastrous track record time of it here to date. Trouble is he has also been at times ruthlessly exposed this season too and the 17/19 defeats speaks for itself an everyman would say, as well as the fact we STILL haven't won since January! While it's obviously still been a steep learning curve for him, I'm not at all sure how he would fare next season with more supposed experience of this club under his belt by then and with a different team to now (ideally!), in a step down in league quality which is more rudimental (no pun intended!), that's all. Unfortunately for him though he can only be judged on this wretched season he's mostly presided here over to the present time. I can't see it happening here for Ruud next season personally....although we're all still clueless as to how else will be in charge if not him of course! Over to Clueso...
  3. Thought that was a really strange move for him to Southampton after already suffering relegations with Bournemouth and Sheffield United before starring at Arsenal for a season until he was tossed out by Arteta effectively once D.Raya arrived. ,
  4. The irony was he had a good run of clean sheets in the purple patch run up to the Qatar World Cup in 2022, up to mid November (aided by the defence being decent I'm sure) but when that season resumed again on Boxing Day v Newcastle at home we arguably saw the real Danny Ward - as well as in the two horror shows v Wolves and Newcastle in December gone.
  5. Missing that sitter at Newcastle too!
  6. If free transfers also count then you missed out another Saints reject from the 0-9 night, Bertrand!
  7. It is just a matter of time before he leaves I think (most likely at the season's end now to avoid larger pay off). People have said if they were ever going to sack him he'd be long gone by now but on the other hand if they were going to retain him for next season's Championship slogfest then they'd have probably already said as much quite some time ago also. I would eat my hat (and the rest...!) if he was still here next season.
  8. Not saying he'd be a "No More Mr Nice Guy" appointment but it will be interesting to see what happens to Daniel Farke at Leeds now. Might be a good fit for us, might not if he's harshly ousted from Elland Road.
  9. Yes he's been great in his time here most obviously and was venting his anger in the media yesterday at our relegation/season of course but last season was the time to call it a day with his being a starting striker and he should have either left last close season altogether for pastures new or just been used as an impact sub this season - not a starting striker as he mostly has been. Service to him hasn't been great admittedly but neither has Vardy!
  10. I recall the Forest fans taunted us in the infamous home fixture defeat in October with a reverse "straight back down, straight back down LCFC ..... playing football the Cooper way" chant - and they probably wouldn't have been far wrong with that, it's just that his successor was even more of the wrong appointment based on a whim at a superior team's then autumnal form. That fault is clearly the boards and nobody else's!
  11. Indeed, a shame he didn't leave on a relative high still with his fellow title winning teammate Albrighton at the end of last season really rather than having had to be a failing part of this wretched one but having the benefit of hindsight would be priceless and all that.
  12. Warming up for scoring two OGs for the same opposition again!
  13. Bagsy...not going!
  14. Yes, that damaging Danny Ward/Ruud related defeat to Wolves in December gave Wolves a springboard yet a month later we still managed to edge ahead of them out of the bottom three after that unexpected, last win to date at Spurs. That was a false dawn if ever there was though as we seriously regressed after that, whereas Wolves went totally the opposite way. Definitely agree with the prediction that we'd have needed 40 points or more this season to stay up......not with this team!!
  15. There's a bit of mileage in what you're saying, given his decent record at Man Utd as interim in November. People say they only beat us twice but they also won their Europa Conference game and drew a game with in form Chelsea that they should have won under Ruud, was surprised he wasn't at least kept on there to be honest under Amorim. As for Cov., then didn't they turn him down?
  16. Mo Salah would have done nicely had he not signed a new deal at Liverpool! Joking aside then he has scored two more league goals this season alone than the whole of our team! Unreal is one word that springs to mind but sadly it is real!
  17. I think he still hasn't got over chucking away a two goal lead at the King Power with not much time left on the clock to say an incredulous thing like that! Have we got a league point at home since? Answers on a postcard!
  18. First game at Filbert Street March 1984 v West Ham. Won 4-1. Lineker and Lynex on the scoresheet I think plus big Bob (Hazell)! Could do with that Gordon Milne team now, albeit who started the 1983-84 season like our current form is now but came good around the November mark....
  19. Although he was much maligned during his time here as manager (too much so IMO), then what you said about Puel earlier was pretty spot on, we need somebody of his stature and 'recruitment understanding' behind the scenes working for a new manager rather than a reckless manager like Rodgers who you referenced, who just went after poor players thinking he could make misfits and shit shine! Vestergaard and Bertrand (who we famously put nine past of course two seasons earlier!), are two shining examples of his legacy, not to mention Faes, Daka, Soumare and Kristiansen - who starred in inferior foreign league teams whilst playing a different style! I was even hopeful we could land Thomas Frank here as manager when Rodgers was under threat of the sack, who you aso referenced strongly. He hasn't done badly has he?!
  20. It would be nuts to suggest he is really but the fact that he is still here now after last night (which I thought would be the tipping point), still suggests anything is possible. All the same I hope you're right obviously. The smart sweaters and long waistcoats effect of the autumn time has long since worn off with Ruud!
  21. Crumbs, after the abject performance (no.14) last night v Toon Army, the amount of empty seats around the stadium and with the only fans being the Newcastle ones who you could hear then how Ruud is still here is astounding. After yesterday then we should have followed Southampton's lead but the club obviously have no plan whatsoever that I can see in this regard so Ruud is obviously here until the end of the season now an could be so beyoind that too - shudders!
  22. True! KP missed (and lost) millions though re ££££s! I think that's why we are where we are now largely!
  23. Winning the Prem. changed it all thereon I think (and within the club's hierachy). Up until then it was relatively easy to go to any game you wanted as just a member, not necessarily as a STH. I can only get to about 3 games or so a season at the KP on average and can muster a ticket each time through one of my STH contacts there but sorry I find the prices eyewatering now on a pay per game basis and paid £55 for the ticket per se for the Forest and Man City games this season! That is very off putting, particularly when the team are as bad as they have been this season! Surely they have to lower them for next season!
  24. I think in league one 16 years ago the crowd attendances were nothing special but good for that level - 20K on average at home I think. An interestng season but a culture shock at times also. Next season back in the Championship will see more sparse attendances than last season though (where attendances were about the same as now!), I'm confident of that.
  25. That's an old classic chant of 80s90s vintage but is extremely applicable to this lot!
