There will come a time when the elderly drivers will be restricted. It's bound to happen. And I say that as someone who is approaching 70 (years, not MPH). I have 40+ years of driving experience including blue light and class 1 HGV but I know my current skill level. It does alarm me that some elderly drivers I encountered when I was working and many of those I encounter now, are really quite poor in terms of anticipation, general awareness, not to mention hazard awareness, and their own abilities as a driver.

Tragic and sad. Maybe shame due family culture had something to do with it. I don't really agree that she deserves to be in this topic TBH. This however: Two killed in late-night crash near crossroads - Leicestershire Live I know certain facts about this incident which IMO makes it applicable to this topic.

It is a slow process unless you're looking for clearance for a "proper job". What are you volunteering for? It's always a good thing and gives a sense of purpose and fulfilment. Good luck.

Given the info that the police MUST HAVE HAD, they had to presume a threat and that he was armed. He's already shot a man twice and had history of armed violence. This wasn't a random shooting of a criminal but an intelligence led operation.

It does. But the background to this incident and Kaba's involvement with violent gangs suggests they had little or no influence on his life although they must've known, but could do nothing. It's a tragedy for them, regardless. However, the defence of their son, whilst understandable, is misguided, is blinkered by their own prejudice and is wrong. He's a violent criminal, involved in violent gang crimes.

BBC Four - Storyville, Navalny It's not that current but a very interesting watch, especially the Russian scientist exposing the whole plot and the subsequent embarrassment of the FSB and the Kremlin.

The police in general have been accused of "institutionalised racism". As a result they seem to be trying hard to prove that is not the case by suitably charging police officers like the one in this case. Which they hope (IMO) shows a level of impartiality, even a "bias" in order to appease those of colour. We've seen riots and very heated protests in the past following trials where the outcome wasn't what certain groups wanted, even though those verdicts were correct in law following a trial by jury. I believe this Kaba case will rumble on with appeals and protests against a perceived injustice because, if I may use football fans as an analogy, even if a decision is correctly given against you, you and the crowd of followers will vehemently protest because that is not what you want. There's bound to cries of "injustice because he is a person of colour". These people ignore the right of a just decision based in law because it doesn't fit their narrative. Given the fact that Kaba has had previous prison sentences for violence and gang related crimes, his family and supporters need to accept the consequences. But they won't. Because it da police innit?

City of Leicester & Leicestershire - The Good and Historical Stuff

I prefer that view to the monstrosity that is the Holiday Inn. -
How did @Izzy see it thorough steamed up glasses? Unless he's Michael Oliver.

I've eaten one or two. Smelled too much like fish for my liking. Incidentally and sort of linked, how does a vegan "eat beaver" if you know what I mean? Does a vegan never "go south"?

Like Vardy, a talisman player dedicated to the club.

He should've got his body down and smothered the ball for the disallowed goal but got a fortunate touch with his foot.

VAR doing it's job correctly today.

You're obsessed, man. Anyway, just beauty without make-up. Some women just naturally have it.

It took nearly 45 mins to drive through the centre of King's Lynn at 3pm and that was more enjoyable than listening to the first half. Then I got on the A47 and everything was easy breezy from then on.

OK, "no one" is not the case. "Some/many/most" might be more accurate.

I don't think I said it was. I was trying to point out that these people have rules to follow which are target driven. How that is then interpreted by front facing staff and the way they deal with it, is what often comes across as a lack of compassion and a featureless response from those that are being browbeaten by their supervisors. The assessors are the least paid and the least trained within this system. I don't blame them for being a bit offhand but I have had personal experience of sitting in an PIP assessment with my daughter who was already in receipt of it. The attitude of the assessor was awful. As if anyone claiming an entitlement to a benefit was some kind of lying scumbag. And THAT is what claimants experience. Being brushed off, treated a some sort of sub-class. She was turned down on assessment but accepted on appeal where the chairman said he was astounded that her claim had been rejected which goes back to my point that the process is target driven and the front facing staff aren't allowed to be compassionate which in turn makes them "appear" heartless and lacking in compassion. I honestly believe many are, though. Granted, it's just my experience in this example but I have spoken to people I have been sent out to when I was working that tell of similar experiences and have described similar to my paraphrased example. The barriers to claiming what someone is justified in claiming is one way of putting people off, particularly those that struggle with completing paperwork or accessing the internet. In other words, those that are elderly or already challenged intellectually, physically and mentally It's an abomination, a fact, not a "fallacious belief"

I'm sorry mate, this is laughable. They're target driven not compassion or care driven. If they can show a target has been reached they have done their job. "Next Please. Ah, I see you haven't been assessed in the last x months. Book an appointment for an assessment, in the meantime, your benefits will be reduced to the minimum until you can provide proof of your entitlement. Oh yes, in the meantime you can access foodbanks if your struggling. You will need to have access to the internet in order to complete the necessary forms. What?. You don't have a PC or an internet compatible phone? Well, you'll need to go to a library or other place where you can get online. Sorry, no we don't do actual paper forms anymore. Do you have anyone who can get online for you? Great, in that case they will have to register their details before they can get your permission to act on your behalf.. Sorry, that's the regulations, " "Caring" doesn't come into it.
