  1. Marti needs time but if our transfer budget was £10m, I’d rather spend £7m and keep £3m aside… you know… just incase.
  2. Fans video came in showing the players walking over to the fans to clap them, Winks appears to have completely ignored the fans and walked straight down the tunnel (on the other side of the ground) on his own. Not sure if he was near the away end and maybe went over first before the video starts, but if he's just walked straight down the tunnel alone we probably need Marti to be having a proper discussion with the player, doesn't look good at all.
  3. That's not the same as being better now though. If he plays how he did today for the rest of the season then I'd say he's better, right now he's raw and needs to develop.
  4. No excuses for taking so long to get into the game, and no excuses for not doing the basics. Marti should get time obviously, but we've been awful for 50+ minutes of all 3 games so far.
  5. He's showing massive promise but he's also VERY green. He tends to try to dribble round 5 players rather than run into the massive space to the other side, case in point when he lost the ball by running into a pocket of defenders instead of running to the touchline. We then got hit on the counter and conceded (multiple players faults) Monga is not better than Fatawu yet.
  6. Absolutely no excuses today. Not good enough and that includes Marti. No excuse for being so poor for so long, no excuses for not doing the basics.
  7. He's not bigger than the club yet. He needs to run into space instead of trying to take 5 players on. He's electric but he needs to work on decision making.
  8. There is a name on the free transfer list that is a proven leader in Josh Brownhill At 29 he's not the ideal signing and doesn't have any sell-on value, but he is a proven leader as Burnley captain. Edit: Initially I also said Victor Lindelof as he was captain of both United and Sweden, I knew he had a few injuries last season, but I didn't realise it was 21 games missed through 3 seperate injuries, I thought he was just overlooked. 22 games missed in 23/24 too. Probably a miss.
  9. I agree regarding having a clean slate completely, I don't care about what happened before, as it stands I believe we need him if we are going to have a chance of going up.
  10. Given how Soumare and Skipp have started the season, i'd be tempted to play Ricardo as a CM alongside winks and not as an inverted full back.
  11. Completely disagree with the abuse comments, but it wasn't just "one of our games" it was relegation day and he had been left out of the squad, I did read at the time though that the "protocol" at Leicester is that players are expected to attend the game even when left out of the squad, whether that's true or not i'm not sure. But in a relegation match you'd assume he would be there to support. The abuse he got was way too far though, but let's not pretend that he didn't know exactly what he was doing.
  12. Right now you're completely right, if he left today and we ended up with Skipp and Soumare as the 2 I don't think we will go up, with Winks in the squad I think we can. 90k a week is a lot of money though.
  13. Sounds like he can't win. I hope he doesnt sign for Celtic then, poor guy won't even need to switch the engine off. Going forward though, I would like to see the club mandate that players live locally, it just makes sense.
  14. Right but this isn't a discussion about what Harry Winks wife wants, it's a discussion about whether he didn't want to stay overnight because he wanted to be with his newborn and wife, of which the numbers never added up, because he's probably spending the same time travelling as he would be if he was overnight at the club. If he lived 1 hour away then I'd fully understand, but he doesn't it's a 4 hour round trip allegedly, 5 days a week. Again I'm not arguing that Ruud was right to treat him the way he did I thought both handled the situation poorly, I'm just saying this argument that he refused to stay because of time away just doesn't make any sense. I feel sorry for Winks if your theory is true, massively limits the amount of clubs he can sign for.
  15. He wants to be at home, but chooses to drive 4 hours per day.... I also don't like the hate and bitterness at all especially when it's in the form of personal abuse, I just think it's best for the club that if we had say £7m to replace him we should.
  16. This never made any sense though. If time away from the family was the reason he refused to stay overnight at the club, why was he purposely choosing to spend so many hours driving? If spending time with the family was priority, you'd buy a house 10 minutes from Seagrave. But saying 'I refuse to spend an extra 12-14 hours at Seagrave I have a young child' whilst simultaneously choosing to spend somewhere around that amount of time driving every week, the maths were not mathing and it came across as an easy excuse. Move to Leicestershire, live 10 minutes away, problem solved.
  17. Should I open the Society doors again?
  18. It's very early days, but our complete lack of synergy is concerning; having a new manager and a new system is not an excuse for failing to do the basics. We need names out of the door and fresh faces in. Lethargic performance all round. Very concerned by Marti picking Soumare and Winks as a pair again.
  19. Wow, so many nostalgic memories. Rest in peace.
  20. I thought the reaction was completely warranted, we can all hate Faes as a footballer, and you can question his attitude, but booing him as he came on doesn't help the atmosphere, doesn't help the team, doesn't help the player. So his reaction to scoring was fair game in my opinion. Fans need to be able to take it when giving it, Faes gave us 3 points yesterday. However, for the rest of the season it was a really stupid reaction, I would imagine that Marti might second guess bringing him on if it's going to make the place that toxic. I can only hope now that Faes looks at that reaction from the fans and forces his way out.
  21. I wish someone would sneak into Top's office and place a live counter on his desk that shows him second by second the amount of money we are paying players like BCDR who aren't anywhere to be seen. I want him to sweat every second of the day watching that counter tick up and up seeing how much money he is wasting by allowing the club to deviate from the blueprint that delivered us a decade of growth and success.
  22. Also special shoutout to "the_vinyl_frontier" - We couldn't have done it without you
  23. Really proud of both sets of fans today. Wednesday have been my "2nd club" for about 15 years since meeting my owls mate and their fans have always been top class. I was also really proud to be a Leicester fan today, I was really hoping our fans would get behind them and it surprised my how much solidarity our fans gave. I saw Wednesday fans outside the ground waiting and Leicester fans were applauding them as they walked past, and the ovation when they entered the ground was heart-warming to see. This great club is being decimated by a scumbag owner and the fate of the club rests in the coming weeks. Had a look on Owlstalk that I've been lurking on for a long time, and it was really nice to see so many of their fans acknowledging the solidarity we showed, ultimately we all love our clubs and love this sport and match day rivalries sometimes need to be put aside. Vestergaard was also calling multiple players to do the walk around the pitch clapping the fans and they made the point to also stop at the Wednesday end, clap their fans and shake hands with the Wednesday players at the away end which was really classy from the players involved and seemingly Vestergaard who was the one who looked to be "organising" it? Link here to pages 25+ which was the moment where the fans entered the stands to an ovation. 24. He posted it during the match if I remember rightly, AFAIK he was told he wouldn’t be included in the match day squad so decided to go for a beer garden day rather than be at the ground with his teammates regardless of whether he was playing, it’s club protocol to be at the game. edit: photo was posted before the game.
