Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
cityfanlee23 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
Is it time to Röhl the dice? -
I’m really concerned this will be a typical Leicester performance, nice spells of play, no goal, then concede 4
-
Ayew is one of our better players. For his lack of ability at times he’s a hard worker most of the time and knows how to play the professional game and dark arts
-
Ruud is actually managing from the sidelines today, barking orders out which is good to see, shame about the selection again 🤣
-
All I’m excited for is the potential to see Monga get some minutes, other than that I don’t care about the cup this season at all.
-
I’m not at home 🤣 although I genuinely didn’t realise it was, I knew I’d said something stupid when I immediately got 4 notifications 🤣
-
Anyone got a decent link?
-
Not sure, Ideally I'd have liked us to throw him into the squad given how poor some of our players have been, however this is Maresca, Cooper and now Ruud who have all overlooked him whilst complimenting his ability, so maybe they just feel the loan would be better for him. With Monga my guess is this is purely to get him involved with the hope he sticks around, Alves has a contract with us and doesn't have the best clubs in the world circling him, whereas Monga is at an age where turning his head toward the glitz and glamour of spain or top prem clubs would be easier, so we have to show him he has a route to premier league football with us. We do need a good balance of play time but also shielding him from the limelight. For the sake of the club we need him to play enough games to keep him here (or get a good compensation fee) but not play him so much he proves the hype and we end up losing him before he can even sign a pro contract.
-
That would be something that could easily swing me toward him again, a manager having a clear direction for the future and wanting to build us back into a club that invests young and sells to big clubs for huge profits is absolutely essential to a club the size of ours. He just NEEDS to fix these silly match day decisions and I will come back on board.
-
We are in a really great position (potentially) to have a proper blend of Academy youth and experienced players, and I think the experienced players we will likely have are at the top end of the Championship in terms of ability, so it could work out to be a bit of a silver lining should we go down. It could be our "reset", then again, I thought 23/24 could have been that and we struggled to offload the deadwood.
-
Credit to Ruud here, he obviously saw instantly that this lad is a serious prospect, immediately brought him into the first team training sessions, publicly praised his ability, and is now giving him a direct route to the first team, which if he plays some minutes will massively help us if Monga decides to leave and we negotiate compensation. Can't fault his approach on Monga so far.

Ex players who used to be linked with us

As did Jordan Veretout, I seem to remember him saying in an interview he chose Villa over Leicester because he wanted to join a club with bigger ambitions and potential, they finished bottom 15/16…. -
So just to clarify, Coady asked the club to leave a week or so after telling the fans on a podcast that there's real unity at the club and everyone is happy? And he decided to do this... on deadline day? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, if this is how he leads, I'd rather see us put him in the reserves for 6 months then sell him to league 1 when no prem clubs want him anymore. I really hope I'm wrong at least.
-
I couldn't blame him leaving, he left for Chelsea and won the champions league, got a massive wage boost and took an opportunity to go to a massive club that had a more realistic chance of winning big things. I don't even care that he celebrated against us, I find it rather pathetic when fans scream abuse at ex players if they celebrate, if someone scoring a goal and celebrating is causing you to completely lose control of reality and scream abuse at someone you don't know, you probably need to reflect. Some of the ways football fans act around "loyalty" need to be studied, 99.999999% of Leicester fans would absolutely jump at the chance to join Chelsea from Leicester if they were a player. Tribalism in football is rather embarrassing and I've never understood it, hating another fan or player because they play/support a rival for example. Very sad.

The point was more that we couldn't bed a striker in because Vardy was undroppable, more than suggesting we should play with 2, we had plenty of occasions where we could/should have played 2 strikers but rarely did because Vardy would often have a poor game, so we ended up with a 4-4-1-1 in most cases, which often made it pointless to have players like Slimani who were goal poachers because every time we played him or other strikers they had to drop deep. Vardy justified being the sole striker, but often in 22/23 his legs were questioned and we still have those questions today.
-
Vardy is one of the main reasons we have a striker crisis and has been this way for many years. His inability to play in a proper 2 striker formation had held the club back from ever being able to actually replace him, often because the numbers he has put up has meant he justified his place as our only striker on the pitch for most of his time here, and whenever we did manage to shoehorn another striker in, they pretty much exclusively had to drop deep to supply Vardy. He should have retired/left 22/23.
-
Slimani was a very capable striker that was ruined by LCFC, alongside Kapustka.
-
Can he play CB?

Ralf Rangnick would be my top choice for DOF. Oversaw the rise of Red Bull's global network, and despite it not going well on the pitch at United, he very clearly grasped the issues and pointed them out. If we were serious about becoming a long term success, Ralf would be top of the list if he fancies the role alongside managing Austria.
-
Also another person I think could make a fantastic DOF. Foundation builder.
-
I always thought Puel would make a very good DOF, the roles include overseeing all aspects of the clubs footballing operations including player transfers, scouting and youth development, Puel has a fantastic record of youth development and has a track record of having a great eye for a player, the role also includes being in charge of the clubs philosophy and long term strategy, and finding coaches and staff that blend in with that long term goal. Again, I think Puel is clearly someone who had a long term strategy with us, it didn't work out on the pitch, but if KP are determined to play a specific style of possession based football, Puel could be the perfect man to oversee us signing the right players, staff and managers to build that long term. I guess the only real concern I would have, is whether he would have a good grasp of the budget management side of the role (not sure he can get any worse than JR though).

For all of Amarteys faults, he was a professional and worked hard on the pitch, he was very likeable

Strahinja Pavlovic - AC Milan Centre Back.

It was so obvious this lad would become a top top player, alongside him at Salzburg you also have Oscar Gloukh and the most sickening of all, Dedic just signed for Marseille for 1.5m I called all 3 of these players out 18 months ago, not because i'm some sort of scouting mastermind, i'm an idiot, but because you could see they were going to become top players in 5 minutes. Dedic for 1.5m is one of the best bits of business i've seen in years and I'm telling you now this lad will be in the Prem, La liga or Serie A in 3 years. Salzburg/Red Bull have one of the best scouting networks in world football, Leicester could sort themselves out for years to come by just poaching players from their network, but even something as easy as that is too hard for this stupid club. -
I hope we are right and not much happens, I genuinely still believe that should we go down, a competent coach could have us back in the top 6 with the squad we will have leftover. I'd expect key players like Ndidi, Ricardo Mads and Bilal will be off, but I still think we have plenty of talent in the squad to make a promotion push with Jakub, Fatawu, Justin, Mavididi, Winks, Skipp (Can't believe i'm saying that) Coady, Vestergaard, Okoli, Daka? with some younger players like Nelson and Alves hopefully ready after their loan spells, we have a solid foundation, it won't be easy, but I think we could be capable of mounting a challenge with a couple of cheap, key additions. Maybe I'm just trying to cope with the situation, but we could be in a position potentially in 2026 we are on somewhat of a stable financial footing.
