Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official
cityfanlee23 replied to moore_94's topic in Leicester City Forum
He has a literal League 1 team. Not joking, It's a league 1 team. He's spent 5m and signed 5 free agents, and took them from guaranteed relegation last season to 3 points off the top 6 today. -

Danny Röhl (born 28 April 1989) is a German football coach and former player who is manager of EFL Championship club Sheffield Wednesday. In October 2023, he was appointed manager of English club Sheffield Wednesday, becoming the youngest manager in the English Football League.[7][8][9] He said he was looking forward to the challenge of his first managerial position,[10] while player Josh Windass said he was excited to learn from Röhl.[11] Röhl's first game was a 1–0 defeat away at Watford.[12][13] His assistant coach Chris Powell urged the club's fans to be patient with Röhl.[14] His first win was a 2–0 victory over Rotherham United in his first home game.[15] Following four wins in seven matches in December 2023, he was nominated for the EFL Championship Manager of the Month.[16] Following 11 points from 6 games in April 2024, he took Sheffield Wednesday out of the relegation zone and was nominated for the Manager of the Month award.[17] Röhl secured Championship survival for Wednesday on the final day of the season following a 2–0 victory over Sunderland.[18] Following the conclusion of his debut season, Röhl signed a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday until 2027.[19][20]

I really want this to make us all look like idiots, but after a week of gaslighting myself to back Ruud. Ruud out. I don't even know if I want to watch anymore.
-
Jesus christ. I spent all of Friday evening talking to one of my Bournemouth mates and I convinced myself that Ruud has potential to take us back up if we go down, and how I support him calling out the poor standards and trying to show some leadership. This is just grim, absolutely grim.

Buonanotte is one of our most creative outlets but his standards have dropped. Ruud clearly doesn’t fancy him and when he came on last match he was lazy and lost the ball multiple times within minutes of being introduced. He looked a superstar in those early games but his form is poor recently. If Ruud doesn’t fancy him send him back and bring in another attacking mid or maybe a proper box to box midfielder that can defend. -
Strahinja Pavlovic - AC Milan Centre Back.

Very annoying that we are constantly missing out on these players. I pointed out Pavlovic over a year ago for salzburg, It's so obvious that him, Gloukh and Dedic are going to be playing in one of the big leagues for solid teams. Not because I'm some scouting master, but because it's obvious to anyone with eyes that they are going to go on to become very solid players. I look back at so many signings that we could have picked up cheaply who went on to be so much bigger than us. Lookman for 15m, Cherki is now attracting giant clubs and will be sold for about 18-20m most likely, both of those players could have been on our books for less than 40m the pair. Instead a couple of years later we have spent the same amount on Skipp, Ayew and BDCR when you factor in fees and wages. Joke of a club. -

Loan deal with obligation/option if we survive would be the best deal for us right now. -
Nasser Djiga - Centre-Back from Red Star

Usually arguing over who's turn it is to pick the ball out of the net -
Just to add to the stats: Daka - 1,095 minutes played, 7 goals, 5 assists. Goal/Assist every 91 minutes Cannon - 3,962 minutes played, 19 goals, 3 assists. Goal/Assist every 180 minutes

Agreed, although, sadly I think we need to be looking to move on past Vardy. He can't play in a 2, and for years we haven't replaced him because the numbers he has put up justified keeping him in the squad and not bringing through a long term replacement, we tried Daka but that clearly hasn't worked. We just keep on ending up in the same dilemma of Vardy leading the line and I just feel like he can't do it anymore, if he's going to demand 50-70k a week in the Championship, we need to find a replacement, the Championship if we go down is the perfect time to do that. -

It's a frustrating situation because he's clearly showing some leadership if he's saying this sort of thing, and rocketing players for standards. He just needs to improve his in game management and show us he can either get us fighting, or at least show he can build something and i'd happily back him in the championship. -

Yep, Vardy is a club legend, but having been in pretty much every single player leadership group over the last 10 years, it's a common theme that our players down tools and get managers sacked. The rumours are the players defied Pearson to stay up, downed tools for Ranieri, downed tools for Puel and helped sack him (Vardy being one of the players least happy with Puel), downed tools under Brendan Rodgers leading to our relegation, openly celebrated when cooper got sacked, and now multiple players allegedly having a bust-up with Ruud, and Ruud calling out poor standards. For the legend Vardy obviously is, he and other "leaders" in our club over the past seemingly have a habit of downing tools, or at least not driving the dressing room standards we needed. Kasper was another who couldn't do anything wrong in the eyes of the fans whilst as a squad leader we continually downed tools season after season. Look, this is a correlation, it doesn't mean it's causation, but it's a running theme over the last decade that we do okay for a season or so then standards drop off and never recover until the manager is sacked. Happened with Ranieri, with Puel, with Shakespeare, Rodgers, you could argue we had a hell of a blip under Maresca where player standards just fell to the floor, but i'd be tempted to just call that form? And now with RVN. It's a hell of a coincidence IMO. -

I don’t think the majority are behind him. Sure we all agree that these players are pathetic and have zero leadership, but the fans have lost patience with Ruuds decisions after 7 straight defeats. I don’t think many are going to be singing his name after last week singing “you don’t know what you’re doing” and booing him. He’s allegedly had a bust ups with Buonanotte, one of the only creative outlets we have, whilst Ayew is getting preferential treatment under Ruud and producing basically nothing. -

We have a manager having bust ups with players (most of these players need a rocket so can’t disagree with Ruud on that) we have a board who have made 1 signing where we now have what 25m to spend for PSR? An ownership with zero communication to the fans, we are free-falling toward relegation, the tactics aren’t working but they are not being changed, we are making just as many mistakes on the pitch as off of it. It feels like the club is lost at sea and absolutely nobody from any department seems to know what to do. Games are coming and going and nothing is changing anywhere. -

Yep that was something I really couldn't understand, we were rumoured by the media to not want to pay for a manager because of budget restrictions, yet we spent 50m+ on players, it made zero sense -

Well we allegedly have £14m to spend in January, and if Cannon goes that adds 10m to the budget. Minus whatever compensation Ruud would get if he managed to negotiate a deal to part ways rather than just quit. If there was only £5m left I'd spend the lot on Rohl. Don't get me wrong, the best case scenario is it clicks tomorrow and we go on to survive and we've uncovered Ruud as a managerial gem, but the likelihood is we go down, so my judgement is based on what it is that he's doing that could give me confidence he can get us promoted with no budget and likely a points deduction, I can't see it with Ruud. Rohl is showing he can get a League 1 squad comfortable with no budget, and his system is aggressive. -

To be fair it isn't pretty now points on the board will be far prettier than what we are offering right now! -

From Ruuds perspective, it would also shift any blame away from him because he can say it was so bad he had to walk, and fans across football would likely think "If Ruud has walked away from millions it has to be bad" The board get massive pressure that is needed, and Ruud clears his name. -

It's sad to say, as one of my favourite all time players, I don't really care if he leaves. He was handed a horrible card, but some of his decisions were absolutely horrendous. DANNY. ROHL. IN. -

Imagine getting rug pulled by the President of the United States and First Lady For anyone unaware, a few days ago trump launched a "meme coin" (crypto) where 80% of the supply is held by him and his inner circle and 20% are distributed to the public, the 80% is split into different groups and those coins are "locked" for a period of time between 3-12 months, hundreds of millions have been lost in mere days, and in 3 months when the first round of his inner circles holdings are unlocked we are going to see people losing even more. It's a blatant rug pull, and 2 days ago Melania launched her coin too. Wild.
