I’ve seen a lot of their fans question his ability tbf. People claiming he only performs when on sky… which is probably why so many of our fans expect him to be great. Sounds like he isn’t that consistent and thats in the championship. I don’t think he’d be a bad signing but it’s not likely one that would keep us in the league. I’m on the fence on this one

with wilf, I and many others on here just thought that his legs had gone. For me, last year showed that this was wrong. No reason he can’t do what he used to do but with the added bonus that he seems to have improved in possession.

it is more likely the structure than the fee that will be holding us off from the release clause. I don’t think we could activate a release clause and then dictate when the payments arrive etc. Which is likely why we are trying to strike a deal outside of it.

these deals always get released with the better deal sounding for the selling club, then details come out a little later that favour the other side. It’s a PR trick at both ends. Once the selling clubs fans have accepted it, they are less bothered by the details

for anyone with good knowledge of psr. If he’s in our academy for a few years and we sell him. does that count as homegrown again in the accounts?

i’m delighted we’ve been a bit more smart in choosing a player, letting chelsea palm off some flop would have been a disaster. Especially as the big names weren’t that bothered about joining. My only issue, is that we’ve gone for a player that on the surface is very similar to braybrooke. one of the 2 likely now gets a career blocked and weirdly i’d preferred this to be a right back or something. I know they could play different roles but the chances of both getting opportunities are probably doubtful. Either way, get them both out on loan!

there’s a balance. I remember the last time watford were in the prem they signed lots of players in that range, I hadn’t heard of any of them before and can’t remember them now… so sometimes you get what you pay for.

there’s absolutely nothing about this guy i’d get excited about. We wouldn’t go for him if kdh wasn’t in the conversation and that’s exactly why we shouldn’t accept him as part of the deal.

surely it all depends on the length of deal. 5 years and and 25m is just 5 in the books. Not quite as simple for us as wages are more our issue but we surely have to roll the dice somewhere if we want a chance of surviving.

Something feels so broken about the game, we are being forced to sell him, when he doesn’t even really want to leave, purely for artificial reasons. i could stomach it if the rules were working fairly but chelsea can do what they want and sell hotels and use loop holes and nobody blinks, while we are picked apart as a club …. all because we had the audacity to fly too close to the sun. screw it all Im pretty sure people switched from calling it financial fair play to psr because there’s nothing fair about it

I personally don’t think anyone should write off casadei as a permanent signing. It didn’t work out in his spell but felt like when we had harry kane. I think one day he’ll click and be a very good player.

personally i’d be having a deal with a lot of clauses attached. Increased wage based on appearances etc. That way if they end up not being good enough they won’t activate first team player level deals. But I think both will definitely make it. not a doubt in my mind
