One thing is key though, you must return with a decent core of prem level players. Currently, we have 3 imo. (Mads, fatawu and bilal). It’s easy to focus our anger on Ayew or Reid but in reality, even if we’d got 2 decent signings in, we’d still be heading down. So we need to essentially have 2 years of blinding recruitment or youth development. I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that Alves and Nelson use next season to propel them to a premier league level.

If he’s a decent bloke which I suspect he is, he’s staying to help out. If that’s the reason he said no, then fair play to him. If it’s simply an excuse that’s a different story. Either way, you can’t force someone to be there outside of working hours. if he’s not being late he can do as he pleases.

It all depends on the finances, if it costs more to get rid then theres really no point as whoever takes over likely wont get the gig in the summer. I dont think anyone else should get this blackmark on their cv whether thats as a caretaker or not.

Mindset comes from the top. If the club believe, the players believe. bringing in cooper, failing to bring in top talent and looming ffp sucked any hope and momentum out of us. It’s hard to build up that belief when everything around you is crumbling. might be an unpopular opinion but the players mentality is not the problem, it’s all about the club and we are letting them off easily by shifting the blame to our players. I’m so sick of seeing witch-hunts for vestergaard, kristiansen, soumare or winks or insert name , when it’s obviously the elephant in the room, that the way the club has been run into the ground is the issue. But I suppose for some fans it’s easier to believe the players aren’t trying hard enough than just to accept that they never had a hope to begin with

Charlie savage could be interesting with his dad’s connection to us. I know many don’t like savage but his son seems to pick up decent numbers for a defensive midfielder. That indicates that he can play as well as tidying bits up. At 21 I’d at least be keeping an eye on his development

Genuinely always wondered why we never seemed to let hamza play the role he was always best at. Brendan tried to make him an 8. Enzo made him a rb. Just let the lad win the ball for you and give it to someone else. when he played for the England 21s he was so very good and then had that one horror moment… it was a sliding doors moment because he was never fancied to play that defensive role again and it’s always felt like we were using him as a square peg after that. This might be controversial but we are arguably going to go down with a better squad than last time. with who would possibly be available to us still. we already have fatawu and mavi who were 2 of the most important signings. we almost certainly lose mads but Jakob is ready now imo. bilal leaves, probably okoli and we won’t have vardy. but our emerging youth is more promising. Nelson and alves are ready. Evan’s and braybrooke won’t be far away. Woyo will be good at this level. Ricardo will still be here. Vesty has proved he’s very capable at this level . (I’d prefer to get soutter in but suspect Sheffield wills sign him) (making assumptions faes, winks, soumare, wilf, vk and possibly daka leave) So really we’re building from this: js Ricardo. Nelson. Vesty. Woyo Skipp braybrooke fatawu. Alves. Mavi Evans For a starting point that’s pretty good and some of the expected departures might not happen which would potentially strengthen the options. I don’t think the summer will be busy for incomings, only outgoings.

Daka is an interesting one, I don’t think many would want him but the fact he only has 1 year left, would mean that he knows he won’t return to his prem wages. So rather than sitting tight, he might be motivated to leave if we can find a club. hopefully the relegation wage drop is significant.
