I'll raise you, Ayew, a 9 and a 10
-
There's an obvious reason why - look at our situation. So, yes your point is well made.
-
And still be in the Premier League - job done and well worth it
-
I look at it from a different angle - look at all the big signings that got everyone excited, but turned our to be poor. Off the top of my head, Musa, Slimani, Silva, Daka, Soumare et al. Sometimes it's the low key signings that do ok. I'm not saying Ayew will be a hit, but he maybe seen as a piece that fits the jigsaw that helps to keep us up.
-
Agree, but I thought that about signing Tony Cottee and then had egg on my face.
-
Pity we aren't in the running.
-
Have you got The Knack of doing this?
-
That will probably equate to over £1 billion in wages - How do they get away with it?
-
If he can't make Villa's match day squad, perhaps there's a reason for that? Be interesting to see if he makes Villa's 25 man squad if he's still around, not that we could do any business then, though.
-
Wouldn't that mean the deal would just be an option to buy - similar to what most Italian clubs choose, then don't bother pursuing it or try to knock down the transfer fee?
-
Think it may depend on the opposition. Not all teams will be as good as Spurs, so I'm hoping that we may have greater possession against some teams where he can play it out from the back. However, I do accept, it won't be like last season for most games.
-
Even if we had the money and could afford his wages, I can't see him wanting to come here, this season. He'll have much better offers I would assume.
-
Not sure you've asked all 100 000 of them!
-
My point is how this affects Cannon - he must think he should be given a chance as he was bought as a striker and to see someone play ahead of him who played all of last season as a winger, must be disheartening.
-
I'm not suggesting it's controversial, more that Cannon is an out and out striker, Mavadidi best position for me is a winger. The lad must feel somewhat disheartened that he is the only out and out striker at the club, yet a makeshift striker is preferred ahead of him.
-
Yes, he's our only fit striker, but if Cooper has no intention playing, what's the point him hanging around doing nothing. His confidence is likely to be low, being the only recognised striker fit, yet Cooper potentially feels Mavadidi is a better option. I suppose it all depends what happens in the next couple of weeks as to whether or not he'll be allowed to go out on loan.
-
Perhaps we can play 4 goallies at once - still no sure we'd keep a clean sheet.
-
But by plying his trade in this country, that how he's earning his wages. It's a difficult one and I understand your argument. I'm not saying I'm correct, but there must be some reason why it's not as straightforward as you suggest.
-
That's because they were purchased for silly fees and put on ridiculous contracts that most European teams can't match. €20m is about twice as much as we we can realistic hope to retrieve for Soumare. If Roma offered €10m, I'd snap their hands off.
-
It's a lot to ask a 20 year old to come on when we are 3 - 0 down at half time and make an impact.
-
I think if you are earning a living in the UK, you are liable to pay UK taxes
-
Possibly, but with no time to adjust to our system, he may well not even be considered.
-
And another day bites the dust ....
-
On a serious note, won't it be that whenever he returns to the UK, whether it be this year with us or many years down the line?
-
It was just a throw away comment - I didn't intend it to be taken seriously (not easy to do this just using text)
