  1. I think you can train and be as fit as you like, but match sharpness comes with playing. He also hasn't had the benefit of a pre-season with his new team mates, playing in a different country where the physicality required is greater along with just settling in to a new way of working and living could mean the transition takes longer. It's a bit like a boxer being ring rusty. You can put the hours in the gym and sparring, but actually boxing an opponent can be different.
  2. Not sure what people were expecting from a 4th choice attacker from the Dutch League. However, as others have said, he's hardly up to speed as yet and perhaps he may contribute with a few important goals as the season progresses.
  3. I'm not disagreeing with you about him flying in, but the fact is the ref got it wrong. It was a perfectly good tackle and should have been a goal kick and yes ref's make mistakes, but had we drawn 1-1, I think this would have been a much bigger talking point.
  4. Other than Faes clearly played the ball onto the Swansea player. Not even a corner, let alone a penalty
  5. Isn't fully match fit yet, hence why Marti said he took him off
  6. This is the dice he has to roll, though. Stick or twist. There's no guarantee either way, we may get promoted playing the Senior pros, we may not. Similarly, blooding youngsters could pay dividends, but also has huge risk factors. It's a tricky dilemma and I understand why Marti has used seasoned professionals to get us off to a steady, if somewhat uninspiring start. I'm hoping to see more integration of our talented youth players as the season progresses.
  7. Didn't think he had much chance with the goal last night IMO. The flip side is that he gained us 3 points at Charlton.
  8. I would actually give Daka a run of games. Even if he's unlikely score loads of goals (if any), we've looked more of an attacking threat when he's had minutes as he seems to be able to create space for the midfield with his pressing and running into space.
  9. I didn't say you shouldn't follow the club, I was suggesting that if you were sick of the club, you don't have to follow them. I too think the club is poorly run, but not playing Nelson is the manager's decision and he sees the players on a daily basis. At the moment, I'll trust his judgement.
  10. Be nice to support a new manager though, rather than being critical of every decision. We're half a dozen games into a new season, with a new manager who is having to pick up the pieces from last year. It just makes me laugh that some people who watch the game from the stands, at best, have a better insight on what our starting XI should be rather than the coaches and manager who works with them all week. We've all got Leicester in our blood, but I'm never sick of them.
  11. It's not enforceable that you have to follow them.
  12. If we are top of the table come January and Winks and Faes had been an integral part of getting us there, would you still sell for a small fee or keep in the hope they would help get us promoted, but leave on a free transfer?
  13. Cup tied I think - played for us v Huddersfield
  14. Think Marti is doing really well. Inherited a squad that was low on confidence and morale, players who didn't want to be here and very little money to spend on a rebuild. Added to this, he's trying to adopt a style of play that is different from the two clowns that led us last year. Give it a dozen games and I think we'll see a team going from strength to strength.
  15. Slightly odd ball, but I'm going Stol Ricardo Vestergaard Faes Kristiansen Winks James Fatawu Ayew Mavadidi Carrenza Would have Ramsey, rather than Ayew at 10 if available
  16. The poster you agreed with was referring to our first 5 league games I believe, of which you replied 4 of the 5 struggling teams we've played, so I assumed you meant in the league - Huddersfield was a second string team in the cup.
  17. Can't remember his debut, but did Ryan McGiven have any good games for us?
  18. Which three league games have we conceded 2 goals?
  19. A Coventry team that has also drawn with Oxford with eleven men, as well as drawing with Norwich (with a very very late equaliser) and Hull. Yep they had an amazing first 2 games when everyone is bedding in. Put the right team out and we are better than these.
  20. He's easing Ricardo back in - we don't want him crocked again because he's not fully ready yet. With Skipp and Soumare, these were the only real options whilst Winks was sulking. I fully expect to see, Winks, Ricardo and James play far more over the coming months.
  21. There are some impatient fvckers on here. Rome wasn't built in a day. So as mentioned, both Nelson and Page weren't selected as a precaution. Making too many changes to the team , after a great win against Birmingham, would have been strange. New arrivals haven't really had much time together working with their team mates. Monga is 16, been away on international duty and for me it was sensible not bringing him on. I've every confidence that Marti will start to select our strongest XI, which will include Ricardo, Winks and James.
  22. If and when he's selected again, I hope he's shows the desire to perform to the best of his ability, then I think as supporters, we should show encouragement towards him. It's likely to be a difficult period in our history financially, so if we can all stick together and have a mentality that is strong on the pitch and in the stands, hopefully this will help the club and team move forward.
  23. Surprised no one has opted for Lineker, ability wise he was excellent, although his best years were at other clubs I suppose.
  24. How does this work? If we've submitted our 25 man squad, getting in more free agents won't help will it or am I missing something?
  25. Don't think you remembered that well - Lineker's main assets were his pace to get ahead of his marker and then his finishing.
