I don't think any ref is going to get 100% of decisions correct, particularly when some are borderline, and the antics of players doesn't help their cause. I think you can train and be as fit as you like, but match sharpness comes with playing. He also hasn't had the benefit of a pre-season with his new team mates, playing in a different country where the physicality required is greater along with just settling in to a new way of working and living could mean the transition takes longer. It's a bit like a boxer being ring rusty. You can put the hours in the gym and sparring, but actually boxing an opponent can be different.

Not sure what people were expecting from a 4th choice attacker from the Dutch League. However, as others have said, he's hardly up to speed as yet and perhaps he may contribute with a few important goals as the season progresses.

I'm not disagreeing with you about him flying in, but the fact is the ref got it wrong. It was a perfectly good tackle and should have been a goal kick and yes ref's make mistakes, but had we drawn 1-1, I think this would have been a much bigger talking point.
