But he clearly does have an intention of playing him. He's played a lot of minutes as the base of the 3 in midfield with Braybrooke playing ahead of him. Again, I am only suggesting we keep him if we don't receive an offer that covers his entire wage. Our current midfield options for players that could play a more defensive role are: Skipp, Braybrooke, Choudhury, Neale, Golding. That is Skipp, three academy lads that have barely played any first team football at League 1 level and Choudhury who last played in midfield in about 2021. The options are awful. We shouldn't be paying money to reduce our options.

I don't think anyone is particularly praising him only pointing out the reality that he's our only senior midfielder and will likely be one of the best in the division. If we're getting rid of him (which we should look to do) then we should outright sell him or loan him with that club paying his full wage. We should not be paying for Skipp unless he's playing for us.

Everyone surrounding this deal should be sacked. "Gross incompetence and negligence" doesn't even begin to cover it. Yet Aiyawatt is giving these people promotions and more power. It is crazy. No other club is run like this one.

Hence why he's playing for League One Leicester City. People judge him as a Premier League player because we paid a Premier League wedge for him while we were in that league. We're not there now and he'll be fine at this level. There is no circumstance where we should be paying for another club to have him.

If we signed him last summer for £1m we'd all want him to stay. He's mostly being attacked because we drastically overspent on him and that's not his fault. Yes he is an absolutely boring player but he works hard and plays a role that fits in this team perfectly. As much as I'm loathed to say it, he should be more than fine in this league.

We need a senior striker. 27/28 or ears old who can play 50 games if needed. Doesn't have to be someone who will be first choice if we go up. Just someone for now who can put the ball in the net.

Now we just need to find League 1's Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Players like Albrighton and Okazaki can be accepted as team players if you've got players in the team that their work rate is for. In 2016 their work rate provided the base for the Vardy and Mahrez to dominate the league. This season we'll have Cullen running around like a blue arsed fly to make up for the bone idle Stephy Mavididi who will end the season on 7 goals and 3 assists. We need to get some genuine quality in the squad to make up for players like Cullen otherwise we become League 1 mid table plodders. Players who work their arse off are two a penny in this league. To get out of it we need players who can make the difference.

Russell Martin came here under a very big cloud (for good reason to be fair) but you've got to give him credit in that he does appear to realise that a big problem at Leicester for the last few years has been the complete divide between fans and the club. The club has got rid of a lot of genuine problem characters this summer (Winks, Vestergaard and Ayew the main offenders) and he appears to have recognised the talent in the academy which fans have been crying out for. I'm hoping for a positive season. I just hope that fans realise that we don't have to win the league with 138 points for it to have been a success.
