£2m is effectively all of our budget for a player that doesn't improve our first 11 and stunts the growth of arguably the only player we own with any sort of real value. All whilst we don't have a striker. We just do not operate to a professional standard.

Only Leicester could spend £100m on a training ground and then spend the next 5 years filling it with muck because they can't actually be arsed to scout for players. You simply can't say that this is value for money. Every bit of success we've had is from building a scouting network that searches for players that fit our ethos, fit our style of play, fill holes in the team and all for a reasonable price. Why can't we go back to that?

Not sure who can really stand up to FIFA unless it's player and fan led. I can't see this getting a response akin to the outcry re. the European Super League. I don't think UEFA will get the same backing. Frankly, a large part of non-European football fans would probably welcome a move like this. One thing I think people really do need to come to terms with is that anyone we get through the door (and there's a big 'if' attributed to that) they will have issues attached to them. We will not be signing 22 year old ready to go goal machines who are likely to make the step up to the Championship should we get promoted. We are way do the food chain now and those players cost £3/4 million. The sort of money we simply do not have. We either have to make do with signing players like Ings/Adabayo where they have proven their worth at a higher level but come with huge question marks over fitness or players who might have failed to make the step up to the Championship like Keillor-Dunn/Chaplin or they'll be untried youth players on loan. We simply will not be signing players who are as close to a guarantee as you can get at this level. Anyone we sign will have question marks.

He's 36 this year and has scores at a rate of once every 4.3 games. I think he's a genuinely good rotation option for someone like Brentford, not for Chelsea.

There was another weird bit right at the end during the fight after Odysseus completes Penelope's challenge and he's shooting his bow like a real novice would. Barely drawing it back without any sort of aim. I actually thought one of the best pieces of acting in the whole film was Sinon's anger during the scene where Odysseus talks to him in the underworld. For all the whinging and crying about Elliot Page being given that sort of role, I thought he delivered. It's more of a great film than a great movie, if that makes sense. It's a proper marvel in terms of filmmaking. It's insane to think that the Laestrygonians were just tall men and that the pig transformation with Cerce wasn't CGI.

No. Both Braybrooke and Alves come with big concerns over fitness and ability at higher levels. They're both uner contract and the club will hope for big things from them. I can't see another club paying what we would want to receive for them, especially if they take to 1st team football with ease in League 1.

Watched The Odyssey on IMAX over the weekend. An absolutley incredible experience. The scale of a film like that was awesome. The Polyphemus scene was incredible... the screams when they stabbed him in the eye were like nothing i've heard before. I can't see myself rewatching it like I rewatch Interstellar or Inception. More in the same bracket as Oppenheimer I think. It felt like some scenes were incredibly rushed and others seemed to take too long. I don't think he got the pacing right. So yeah I think if anyone gets the chance to watch that on IMAX they should take it.

I think Nelson will but not Souttar. I think the backup to that team would be something like (this is entirely off the top of my head, probably forgetting someone): McCarthy Joseph Faes Gray Ali Choudhury Neale Evans Page BDCR Opoku This would suggest we probably need a back up (or indeed starting) left back and someone else who can sit in midfield (maybe with a bit more experience). If we can go into the season with this as our squad then I think we'll be fine (starters in bold). Goalkeeper - Stolarcyzk, McCarthy, Vietes Right Back - Aluko, Joseph Centre Half - Souttar, Nelson, Faes, Okoli, Gray, Wilson-Brown Left Back - Thomas, Ali Midfielder - Skipp, Braybrooke, Choudhury, Neale, Golding Attacking Midfielder - Chaplin, Page Wingers - Mavididi, NEW RW, Alves, Evans, BDCR Strikers - NEW ST, Otchere, Opoku I make that 16 academy lads (17 if you class Golding). Chaplin was a good addition but we need two more that are more of the finished article IMO. Someone to help this young team along with the right attitude.

I think we're in an okay position apart from in forward areas. We clearly need a genuine number 9 and a couple of wingers (preferably with pace) but other than that I think the team is in a decent shape. I would imagine that the likes of Hamza and Faes may worm their way into this team but this is how i'd line up the team tomorrow. Klopp is obviously a genius but, like Pep, I just don't think that a national team is right for him. His teams are finely tuned and it took him a while to pick up results at Liverpool while he got there. I do think that none of the truly elite coaches are best for national football and I think it's a shame that the Premier League has lost them all.

Is that accurate? I can't really believe we offered him a below-average Premier League wage when we were flashing money left and right on no-marks. Surely he was on 20-30k a week at Stoke? Why would he leave that for a Premier League team if there was a very certain chance that he would have ended up on the same wage 6 months later? His stock was high, we were chucking money away and we signed him for a very good price. Doesn't make sense that we would offer him (and that he would accept) a low wage.

Really? I bet we offered him a ridiculous wage to come to a relegation threatened team in January.

Before this summer it would have represented a 20% increase on the largest fee ever received by a League 1 team. The most any League 1 team has ever spent in one summer (other than Birmingham in 24/25) is £5m spent by Huddersfield. We're not in the big leagues any more. £12m for Souttar is League 1's equivalent of the Harry Maguire sale.
