  1. Well he definitely has a son born in 2019. So on that criteria he’s definitely in https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57556421
  2. We’d have no chance if Stafford Rangers entered the equation
  3. It was. Here’s the original image …
  4. With this squad of sh1te I can’t imagine that any of our successful former managers would want to come back and tarnish their legacy. It’s not much of a sell at the moment. Dispirited, disjointed, squad with vital recruitment (i.e. striker)required to turn fortunes around and no money to spend. A strong motivator and character should be able to do more with the squad than Marti did, but they’re still operating with their hands tied behind their backs
  5. I should have got some Intellectual Property Protection on this
  6. To be honest the fact that Jordan Ayew is the starting no. 9, Patson Daka is the only alternative and that the club isn’t extremely active in the transfer market to rectify the situation - is proof, if anyone needed it, that this club is dead!
  7. https://www.tickcounter.com/countdown/9231907/jordan-ayew-contract-expires
  8. I really don’t think there was too much lost in giving a free agent a trial. This signing was always about the contract and what terms he was or wasn’t given. Without that information people were getting excited about nothing. It also seems that people still don’t grasp the desperate nature of our position. It’s clear we’re not signing anyone for a fee. We’re probably looking only at short term loan deals and free agents. If this deal looked like we were scraping the bottom of the barrel it’s probably because that’s precisely the market we’re operating within. Meanwhile we continue with Ayew and Daka. A position I can’t remember being worse in 40 years supporting club. Personally I will be clinging onto whatever the next desperate option is that’s thrown into the ring
  9. Well the people who had concerns about his fitness must be very pleased that LCFC have done their due diligence rather than sign a player who isn’t fit. Unless you’re being negative
  10. How long a contract did we give him?
  11. There is an argument to say you’re right but part of me dies inside when I think that Ayew might be one of our best options in a starting eleven
  12. 2.5 weeks is a long time in football
  13. That’s quite a low bar but, yes, it’s still very pleasing
  14. That’s the problem with this thread. We don’t yet know what his wages will be or what sort of contract we’ll be offering him. That really is key to whether this is good deal or not. Until we know that we’re just speculating and getting excited (or not) over nothing.
  15. “Diamond in the rough” is probably what we were hoping to get from Carranza. I’m not sure you do many of those kind of deals in January as clubs would be very reluctant to let players go. Not sure the value would be there, but you might get lucky. Interestingly Kone’s output this season (games/goals/assists) is identical to that of Jordan Ayew, although Ayew has scored 2 of his 4 goals in penalties, which might suggest Kone is more effective in open play. FWIW I’d rather have Kone than our other current options, but I’m not sure he’s the great hope he’s sometimes made out to be for the money paid
  16. We’ve got two really sh1t strikers and a 17 year old rookie. Two of which have never scored a goal for the first team. We have spent zero £££ in transfer fees with no indication that will change. We need to find somebody for no transfer fee, wages we can afford and who doesn’t have better offers than a mid-table Championship club in decline. It might be precisely because fans are acutely aware of our circumstances that they’re not dismissing a potential recruit that, in different circumstances, might make no sense at all
  17. Normally I wouldn’t give these sort of suggestions the time of day but, given that our current options are so hideous, it’s worthy of further consideration. He probably couldn’t do much worse than the alternatives. He has, however, finally found a position whereby he can contribute to the team. Marti has only just got a midfield that seems to have balance. We can’t state we’ve turned a corner yet as it’s only based on a few games and is very fragile to any tweaking. I wouldn’t want to disrupt the midfield at the moment with putting Ayew in at no. 10 or playing James higher. I’d rather build on what we have. For me that’s adding an actual striker in January. With Winks not playing we could also do with a decent backup CM and possibly a LB. Hopefully with careful additions and new found confidence we might be able to continue with an upwards trajectory. So I’d change as little as possible right now
  18. Maybe so. But our other forward options when BH was here were Fryatt and Howard GTF’s time overlapped with Vardy, Wood, Nugent and Kramaric Right now we’ve got Ayew, Carranza and Jake Evans. The first one isn’t a striker and the second two have never scored for us. Michail Antonio might not be a great choice but the bar is historically low at this current time
  19. Well ok. Piroe is one name. Is he available? Would he come here? How much would he cost (loan fee, wages? etc.)? Would he have better options? There are loads of better players out there, but are they deliverable? If so, then bring them in as they might well be a better option than Antonio. We’ve not exactly indicated that we’re going to flex our muscles in the transfer market. If our hands are tied then Michail Antonio might be the only deliverable option. As stated, that might be better than nobody and simply relying on Ayew, Carranza and a 17 year old academy product
  20. I’d actually quite like to “peddle” Motsi
  21. Hmmm… I think everyone should calm down a bit. Michail Antonio is not the player I’d be looking to bring in under normal circumstances but: 1. We’ll only have Ayew and Carranza available. One isn’t a forward and the other hasn’t demonstrated that he can contribute anything in this league 2. The other option is a 17 year old who has never scored for us and has no track record at this level 3. We don’t know the terms of any deal and how much we’ll actually be paying MA 4. We don’t know whether the club has any funds to buy anyone else given we spent the precise sum of £0.00 in the summer 5. Who else is available that would actually be prepared to come? Given the circumstances MA might be the only deal we can do and here to provide cover. Even if we prioritise Jake Evans’s development we’d still need cover. We’re literally one injury away from Jake and Carranza being the only options available. We need someone through the door even if the options are sub-optimal
  22. Well that tells you all you need to know really. A two year deal screams “squad player we’re looking to move on in a year”
