Bobby De Cordova-Reid joins permanently - Official

He’s not good enough for the Premier League. If he was he’d still be at Fulham. He might be a useful squad player for one of the teams fighting relegation but that, by definition, means that he’s not really good enough for the Premier League -

To be fair he was signed for the Premier League and was a pretty poor recruit and a player with low future potential or resale value. The club have now dropped down to closer to his level. Not his fault and all he can do is prove his worth as Vestergaard did last time we were relegated. It’s good that he’s found a role that hopefully he can excel him. Let’s see if he can keep it up. I don’t think we need to revise our assessment from last season. He could become a valuable player for us this season, however, and he should only be measured against our short term aims. Not being good enough for the PL is something that can be levelled against the majority of players in the Championship -
To be fair he looked a very good player in a winning team when we signed him. Many were wondering why he was with us in the Championship and not in the Premier League. Now we most definitely know

I must admit I was wrong about Winks. I thought he was one of the players we’d really rely on at this level. I still think he has qualities, but it’s clear he thinks he’s bigger than the club. Two managers have now dropped him from the squad so he’s obviously a toxic presence. I didn’t think I’d be championing James, Skipp and BDCR as the starting midfield 3 at the start of the season but, absolutely, there shouldn’t now be a route for Winks back into the side. Get rid of him if we can but, the problem is, I can’t see the clubs Winks wants coming in for him unless a really desperate PL club takes a punt. With the right attitude he could have put himself in the shop window. Now I think he’ll just stink the place out until the end of the season

Excuse me. Would you happen to have tonight’s lottery numbers?
-
We’re talking marginal gains here. So far the hierarchy is (from bottom to top): Carranza, Ayew, a can of baked beans, Daka, return of David Speedie, Antonio
-
The other options are Ayew, Carranza and Daka. There will also be limited options for a club bouncing around in mid-table with little prospect of going up. If we could get him on reasonable wages until the end of the season then it might be worth a punt. If it’s a 3 year deal on £75k per week then we’d obviously be mad to go anywhere near it. At his peak he was a good player at PL level. So already a better bet than Ayew who was never any better than bang average even at his absolute peak
-
He’s already better than Ayew and he hasn’t even played for us yet
-
It is a loss! Just for the fact that the other two options are no better than a can of baked beans and a chocolate sponge cake
-
Why the optimism?
-
I’m not sure he’ll be successful in any role despite the fact that we’ve somehow contrived to be in a position where he’s our best striker. We’re hardly going to build a team around such a limited player. The real solution is buying someone better who, by definition, would also be better than Ayew and Carranza. Until we do we need to get behind him as he’s the best we’ve got.

That’s not fair I’ve never picked any dog sh1t up! Don’t tar me with the same brush (Incidentally I’ve never had a dog. Does that make a difference )

Everything has already been said in this thread that I would have added - but my eyes keep getting drawn back to it. The words “Club Statement” are just so rare. The article headline wouldn’t be any more compelling if it read: “ Unequivocal evidence of rocking horse sh1t found on the moon” Here lies the problem. They don’t like offensive and personal chanting. I don’t either and the vast majority of the fanbase wouldn’t. But these things exist in a vacuum. The absence of any proactive communication creates this and that’s why this latest intervention is just completely tone deaf to the concerns of the fans
-
It just needs to be something coordinated that gets as many people involved as possible. Something like a plane, for example, is difficult to organise, doesn’t unite lots of individuals around it and probably has limited impact. Maybe pick a colour. Pick a chant (simple and repetitive, but not personally offensive). Pick some visuals (again repetitive, but not offensive). Output might be something like everyone standing up, waving a white flag, singing for the removal of the board and holding up the same visual (eg like the “Liar” signs for Brian Little). Do this on the 35th minute (other times are available) of every game for 5 minutes until something changes. Hopefully more people would join in once they get the idea. Hmmm… this all might be a bit too ambitious for our fan base, but the main takeaways are: simple, repetitive, unambiguous, inoffensive, unified messaging etc. ….

That’s not exactly a glowing reference when a can of baked beans would only offer marginally less than Ayew -

I’d rather not see him in the squad again. Just phase him out unless there is an injury crisis. Look to the future and promote one of the youngsters to the bench. -

It’s not that good!
-
Is it worth resurrecting this thread again?
-
Well it’s taken 11 games before this thread appears. Is that a record for us?
-
He’s very inconsistent and his distribution is largely terrible - so no it’s not harsh Still young though. Likeable and a good prospect. It’s just that we shouldn’t be relying on just him for creativity

Potentially not even football…
