  1. So I just learned this today, but it seems the stadium acoustics are designed for people who sit smack bang on the halfway pitch line. Sit at either end and you will be convinced the other end is silent.
  2. Really strange player. I can't remember a player like him. He's technically decent when he has the ball, which is rarely. I wonder if he suffers from stage fright? I assume the coaching team thought he did well in training to warrant the sub!?
  3. First time I've sat right behind the dugout so bit of a novelty. It was fascinating to see the workings during a game. One observation: I really do not think any of the players can hear instructions from the bench and quite often seemed to confuse the players. Ange barely said much. Our management team were straight out of Mike Bassett England manager. And the assistant has the loudest finger whistling technique. It was a joy to behold, the notes pitch perfect whenever called upon. The pre-match montage, the poetry, Shakey's goodbye applause, the rain, the tension. My goodness I missed this. The first half the body language of the players was pitiful. I felt sorry for them. They were nervous, unsure. When the kickoff whistle blew footballing basics left them. We should have been buried in the first 20 minutes. The KP was practically silent besides the partying Spurs fans. Words were said at half time with the team arriving back on the pitch late. I don't know if the players have ever seen the montage played on the stadium screens before kick off. They were enlivening. You can feel the weight and pride of what was achieved just months ago. The adrenaline rushes. The second half - well clearly Cooper had given the players permission to not be afraid. Be present, be wanting, play for your own pride. And the noise. Wow. Normally when sat in the Kop end it can sound empty even when you can tell the away fans are singing their hearts out. From the dugout area at times the noise from our fans was deafening. Cooper gave us permission to continue. At first a slight wrist wave. Then full arm movements. The players fed off it. So did the manager. The first half was embarrassing. The second half was pride in blue.
  4. Even Mickey Adams was more exciting than this.
  5. At the game. Sat behind cooper. This is embarrassing
  6. Son / Madison masterclass incoming. Real question is which minute will we get our first shot on target and by whom?
  7. Having this guy anywhere near the club is toxic. He thinks he's better than his colleagues when we've seen nothing to suggest that is true. He has never wanted to be here. On top of a difficult season having this tantrum throwing adult around is just guaranteed to destroy any chance of survival. Club should have sold him last season when all this was so obvious (yet another example of indecision costing us millions). Soumare is a bit of a nob, but this is completely Rudkin's fault.
  8. Given man city, arsenal, Liverpool's or Chelsea's squad, cooper will never manage to get 50 points.
  9. You don't cancel planning permission, it just expires usually 3 years unless there is visible work started in that period of time. Before work commences any pre-construction conditions would need to be discharged too otherwise work cannot start. Canceling catering contracts doesn't make sense unless you want your catering contractors to cut even more corners and practically give up.
  10. The starting 11 from last season were better than any of the 3 relegated teams. This season we have lost 1 of the starting 11 and seem to have turned into bottom-half Championship/League 1 material.
  11. I think he's our next target to help us get back out of the championship 2025/26 season.
  12. Gosh you've triggered a lot of us because I think you're right, this is shaping up to be even more tragic with potentially disastrous financial consequences.
  13. This is now the 3rd manager who seems to be publically saying he doesn't know what's going on with signings. Judging by that Rudkin puff piece it seems he is super silent not just outside the club but inside too. Just who is the manager supposed to talk to about the current situation if not his direct boss, the DoF? Surely the 2 should be singing off the same hymn sheet in the honeymoon phase of their relationship? Somebody make it make sense. And now I would question whether Enzo left because he just could not take any more of Rudkin's wall of silence during what will be a difficult season.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cooper gone before the end of September tbh. I think there will be player unrest. Quite clearly good players are unwilling to come here not just because of money. That Italian agent gave the blunt truth about a lack of project. A relegated club has a huge penalty on price so even if Top wants out he needs a premier league team to get maximum payback.
  15. The board will not trust this guy with big signings. It's just not going to happen.
  16. The motivation issue is huge imo. When he came the players were unsure. But their body language now suggests they don't trust him or his staff. Coaches who like 'working with young players' typically do that because they don't have the skills, gravitas, etc to motivate more experienced players. So they surround themselves with inexperienced teenagers who haven't yet seen enough to be critical. Southgate is unfortunately in that category, as is Cooper imo.
  17. I have no idea where this idea has come from that Enzo barely had to do anything because the squad was so good it would have PTL all by itself. It's clearly not true is it. Largely the same first 11 under Cooper look like they are just learning to play professional football. Imagine if KDH was injured last season then what would the setup and tactics under Enzo have been? That's the situation Cooper has got to deal with. But he's got no idea. It seems more and more likely that the hit and hope squad building at Forest wasn't just the ideas of a mad owner, but that of a fairly limited coach too.
  18. But how do you counter? That suggests giving the ball to the oppositon and playing a low congestion block for 80 mins out of 90. Half the Premier league teams are very good at eventually unlocking that type of setup. The rest not as good. Quite a gamble.
  19. Spoiled because Maresca tried to give the team a clear identity which other teams did fear. Some fans seem to have forgotten it was Maresca's first full season in the job. He was learning just as much as the players. No manager comes ready-made. I'm sure at Chelsea with the squad they have and his learning experience with us, he will have a plan B. It's inevitable and an obvious evolution. Back to Cooper. He has inherited a weaker, smaller squad that really need guidance. His players will of course be judging him against their old boss. Consider how many players were making enthusiastic noises last year about training and learning. On the pitch we might be seeing the outcome of that lack of buy-in. It is only preseason so I'm trying not to get carried away in criticism. But the shape of play, the ability to game-manage is nowhere near the levels we saw early on last year. Have a look at Arnie Slot's Liverpool to see how quickly new tactical plays can be set in which only help boost morale and buy-in within the squad.
  20. Totally taken aback by that line. He comes across a bit laid-back in interviews and after the intensity of Maresca I'm not convinced the players are warming to this guy at all. With trite statements like that how can they? If the first 3-5 games go horribly wrong several senior team members will mentally check out at which point relegation is inevitable. Watching the game today it felt like an old-fashioned championship match with no clear positional play and tremendous amounts of energy expenditure. I can't remember the last time I felt this pessimistic. Even last season once Maresca was onboarded and we had glimpses of what could be during pre-season the mood lofted significantly. This time around with the pending points deduction and the tactical salad we've now seen I'm not sure just how bad it will be. We got spoiled by Maresca.
  21. Hamza is having a shocker. Palermo goal started with Hamza snoozing. Just running around like he's back on the playground. He needs Maresca's strict framework.
  22. Daka is so frustrating. It's quite clear he has spent his entire career relying on his pace. I'm sure he's tried to get better at composure/instinct but whenever he fails in that he falls back to pace. Except the Premier League and the Championship are well known for being super-fast. I have no idea if Cooper will have the patience to persevere with Daka because his own longevity is tied closely to Daka's performance assuming he remains our only viable starting striker.
  23. This is how dictatorships arise. First they promise to make trains arrive on time. Then they promise an atmosphere. Slippery slope.
  24. Can't keep players around out of sentimentality and hope. The club's dire financial situation should be sharpening minds very quickly if they aren't already. We have to clear the decks ASAP and take the hit on capital to rein that salary spend well below where it was 12 months ago. Next season we will definitely get a points penalty meaning the team will need to be able to perform like a top 8 team just to remain safe. It's a tall ask and one that Nacho just won't be able to play his part in.
  25. Some right misery guts on here. Probably best if some of you stay behind the keyboard while the rest of us carnival in town 😬. Was there for a bit beautiful weather. Yes it's all a bit amateur but so what. Just be glad you're alive to see it. Who knows then the next parade will come. Also I had a flake 99 for the first time in 12 months and that just wrapped up a great weekend with the celebration in the King Power and day out in town. Lovely to see so many people of all backgrounds too. In the absence of the Church the footy team and Vardy is the closest thing we have to a universally celebrated saint. Special time.
